That night, Cassian seemed tireless and a bit wild. He left several bites and hickeys on Aurelia’s waist. 

In response, Aurelia made sure Cassian’s neck carried her marks. 

Cassian was consumed by desire. Aurelia had to clutch her bedsheet, and her fingertips wrinkled it. 

In the end, all her strength was drained out. With her eyes closed, she let Cassian do whatever he wanted. 

To pick up Ella from the hospital, Aurelia woke up early on Saturday morning. 

After an unrestrained night, Aurelia felt that her legs were shaky when she got out of bed. 

She was brushing her teeth when Cassian walked into the bathroom and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. “Sleep in with me.” 

Aurelia said nothing. She finished rinsing her mouth, looked at Cassian in the mirror, and said word by word, “Last night was a gift for our separation. Why are you so clingy?” 

Instantly, the sleepy Cassian sobered up. He slightly narrowed his eyes, studied Aurelia for several seconds, and asked, “Aren’t we good yet?” 

‘To make peace with me, he worked hard last night, but in the wrong way,‘ Aurelia thought. 

She slowly distanced herself from Cassian, slipped out of his arms, and peacefully said, “What good? We got what we wanted, respectively.” 

A dangerous light showed in Cassian’s eyes. “Is that so?” 

“Yes.” Aurelia turned around and confronted Cassian face–to–face. “You are a grown–up, Mr. Locke. You know the rules, don’t you?” 

Cassian’s face darkened completely. Cassian stormed away after he locked eyes with Aurelia for half a minute. 

When he banged the door behind him, she breathed a sigh of relief. 

‘See? No expectations, no disappointment,‘ Aurelia thought. 

The weather was great, and so was Aurelia’s mood. 

Evan Ella sensed that Aurelia was in a good mood, so she asked, “Are you happy about something?” 

“Your recovery is the happiest thing in my life,” Aurelia responded. 

Moved, Ella softly stroked Aurelia’s hair as she had. “You have suffered a lot all these years, my dear girl.” 

Outside the hospital, Aurelia intended to hail a taxi. Right then, she spotted the familiar figure ahead, quickly stopped in her tracks, and said to Ella, “Mom, I need to use the restroom.”

“I’ll wait for you here,” Ella replied. 

“No, come with me.” Aurelia pulled Ella away. 

Amused, Ella asked, “Are you afraid to go by yourself, my big girl?” 

“Yeah, come,” Aurelia responded. 

Ella had to wait for Aurelia outside the restroom.

Aurelia lingered in the restroom for quite a while. She didn’t reunite with her mother till she thought that those two nuisances had been away. 

“Is your tummy aching?” Ella was worried about Aurelia. 

“A little bit. I must’ve eaten something bad last night.” Aurelia made up an excuse. 

“We are still in the hospital, so let’s go see a doctor.” 

“I’m fine, really. Come, the cab’s here.” 

Ella didn’t leave with Aurelia till the latter gave her reassurances. 

“By the way, I think I saw Cassian,” Ella said casually. Aurelia’s heart skipped a beat. 

Ella added, “But I’m not sure. Maybe I mistook someone for him.” 

Aurelia finally relaxed. “You must’ve been seeing things. He’s on a business trip. He is not in Ashmont.” 

“Good to know that.” Ella felt relieved because she had seen a young woman following behind that figure who looked like Cassian. 

‘Those two people seem intimate, so I must have made a mistake,’ she thought. 

On Monday morning, Aurelia bumped into Jasper the moment she arrived at Honoria Capital. 

‘How idle and bored he is! What a pity that he will be disappointed this time!‘ she thought. 

“Aurelia, bet you didn’t see me coming, huh?” Jasper habitually jabbed at Aurelia. 

Aurelia just ignored Jasper and walked straight to her seat. 

Jasper followed Aurelia and asked, “You spent the whole weekend thinking about how to keep your job here, didn’t you?” He then got a cold look from Aurelia. 

With confidence, he added, “I struck a nerve, so you are now angry and ashamed, aren’t you? You know what, Aurelia, you will have to leave today, even if you don’t want to. I will keep my eyes on you.” 

Speaking, Jasper pointed two fingers at his own eyes and then at Aurelia. “I won’t take my eyes off you, not for

The very first thing Aurelia did after turning on her computer was print her resignation letter.

She had handed in more than one resignation letter, but she was unsure whether Cassian kept any of them. Just in case, she printed another one. 

“Jasper, what brings you here?” Tessa asked. She walked into the company together with Cassian. 

Instantly, Jasper’s eyes went wide with surprise. “Early in the morning, you two went to work together. Is it what I think it is?” 

After the question, Jasper deliberately looked at Aurelia to capture her reaction. 

To his disappointment, Aurelia remained calm. 

‘Since Cassian has lived with Tessa, why did he behave last night as if he were horny? So impatient and horny,’ Aurelia wondered. 

Two days had passed, but she still felt that her waist was sore and that her legs were shaky. 

Aurelia walked to the printer after she pressed the print button on her computer. 

Jasper snorted with disdain. “Keep pretending, Aurelia.” He didn’t raise his voice, but it was loud enough to let the people in the room hear him. “You will shed tears in a while.” 

He firmly believed that Aurelia was pretending to be calm while panicking inside. 

“Jasper, why do you like to pick on Ms. Corin?” It seemed Tessa was speaking up for Aurelia, but her sincerity was unconvincing at all. 

‘At least, Tessa bothers to fake it. Cassian just ignores my predicament, Aurelia thought. 

Jasper made plenty of snide remarks about Aurelia, and Cassian never spoke up for her. 

Cassian heard Jasper, but he did nothing for Aurelia as always. 

‘It is clear that he doesn’t give a damn about me,‘ Aurelia thought. 

The resignation letter was out when Aurelia was lost in thought. 

Aurelia took the letter and checked every line on it for fear that her resignation would be delayed again. 

Honestly, she was anxious to leave though she had once planned to spend her whole life in Honoria Capital. 

After the resignation letter was confirmed to be perfect, Aurelia walked up to Cassian. 

“What are you doing?” By instinct, Jasper tried to block Aurelia’s way. 

“Mr. Locke, this is my resignation letter. Please sign off,” Aurelia said as she handed the letter to Cassian.

With doubt, Jasper snatched the resignation letter from Aurelia’s hand and scrutinized it. ‘It’s an act!‘ he thought. 

Tessa glanced at the letter and found it the same as those inside Cassian’s drawer. 

“That’s it. Cassian, sigh off now!” Jasper seemed much more anxious than Aurelia. He dreaded that she would regret her impulse the next second. 

Cassian said in a voice colder than his expression, “The HR manager knows how to deal with it.” 

Then, he brushed past Aurelia and walked into his office. His reaction and apathy shocked both Tessa and Jasper.
