“You seriously don’t like Chloe?” Harry asked.

“Hell no.” Shawn replied instantly. His eyes flashed with pure disgust, as if even being associated with Chloe would make him look like a total cheapskate.
Harry slapped his knee, grinning. “For real? Then I’m gonna make my move on her.”
Mandy rushed over and grabbed Harry’s arm, her voice full of anxiety. “What? You want to date that stuck–up princess? Cut it out.”
Among her friends, Harry was the best catch: secretly loaded, super loyal, and easygoing. She’d had her eye on him as a boyfriend for ages.
Harry shot Mandy a look of disdain. “Don’t go around acting like you’re my girlfriend. I don’t want Chloe getting the wrong idea.”
Then he turned to the rest of the group, staking his claim. “From now on, nobody messes with Chloe. If you do, you’re crossing me.”
With that, he got up and walked out, leaving everyone else staring in shock.
“Has Harry lost his mind?” someone muttered.
Another chimed in, “Yeah, he used to mess with Chloe more than anyone else.”
Harry’s trust fund status was basically an open secret. To everyone, he was worlds apart from Chloe, who was just an orphan with no connections.
Nobody noticed how Daisy and Mandy’s faces had turned deadly, their eyes burning with jealousy.

Chloe dragged herself home super late, totally exhausted. Just as she was about to crash, her phone buzzed. Kyler was calling. She instantly hung up and blocked him.
After a quick shower, she checked out her day’s haul in her spiritual space. Satisfied, she killed her phone and fell asleep.

The school break flew by in a flash. Chloe stood at the gate, spacing out as she stared at the campus lined with towering buildings.
Students poured in with their bags, filling the place with vibrant energy.
Chloe wasn’t there for class. She needed to grab something from her dorm.
Following her memory, she headed to the dorm. Her roommates were already there, busy tidying up their

“Well, well, our little princess is back. This place is a total dump. Cuess it’s not fancy enough for you,” Mandy sneered
Diana and Anna sized Chloe up and down, their eyes dripping with disdain. But they couldn’t resist gossip
“Chloe, did you really steal Mandy’s boyfriend?” Diana asked.
Chloe paused halfway onto her bed, genuinely confused. “Who’s her boyfriend?”
Fuming, Mandy hurled her basin to the floor, and it shattered with a loud crack.
“Cut the innocent act, Chloe, You seduced Harry that day, didn’t you? Why else would he dump me and tell everyone he was into you?” Mandy spat,
I used to think Chloe was just dumb. Turns out she’s this calculating,‘ she thought, her eyes red with anger.
“This drama’s blowing up online, Chloe,” Diana chimed in. “We’re supposed to be friends. How could you do this?”
Just then, she spotted her boyfriend at the doorway. She hurried off her bed and dragged him away, like
Chloe was some boyfriend–stealing threat.
Mandy left with Anna, planning to freeze Chloe out.
Once they were all gone, Chloe muttered, genuinely puzzled, “Who’s Harry?”
‘Whatever. I’ll grab my stuff and bounce,‘ she thought.
She opened her closet, and her clothes tumbled out. They were all top brands, some still tagged.
Back in her previous life, she would’ve given these to her roommates. But after taking her stuff, they’d still complain she was looking down on them.
Chloe dumped everything into her spiritual space, uncovering a black gold credit card with a 3–million–dollar limit and an emerald pendant.
After grabbing everything, she took her empty suitcase and walked out. Next time she returned, this lively campus would be a total nightmare.
A week after the apocalypse hit, a red mutant flower would sprout on the playground. It could block the zombie virus.
Zombie bites were instant infection. Almost nobody made it through. If one couldn’t fight it, they’d become one of the walking dead.
But if one ate that red mutant flower, a zombie bite would become just another wound.
‘I’ve gotta get that flower, no matter what,‘ Chloe thought.

Just then, Shawn came striding toward her. She kept her rage in check and tried to brush past him.
Shawn frowned, his voice arrogant, “Hey, stop. You didn’t see me?”
Chloe kept walking but was blocked by a shadow. She looked up into Shawn’s furious face.
“Why’d you bail yesterday?” he demanded. The memory of the server’s humiliation and his classmates‘ sneering stares on his birthday had him seeing red.
“What are we to each other? Why would I go?” Chloe snorted, turning to leave. If she stayed any longer, she might lose it and kill him.
“Date me,” Shawn blurted out. He noticed Chloe had changed lately and worried that if he kept playing games, someone else would steal her away.
Chloe almost cracked up in anger. “You’re crazy,” she shot back, turning to walk away.
Shawn grabbed her arm from behind, his voice dripping with fury. “Don’t tell me you’re into Harry. Rich guys like him just play games. They never take girls like you seriously.”
Chloe was done listening to his crap. The second he grabbed her, she flipped him over her shoulder, slammed him down, and unleashed a brutal beatdown.
‘I’ve put up with this jerk long enough. If I can’t take him out now, he’s definitely gonna suffer today,‘ she thought.
‘Are you freaking crazy?‘ Shawn shouted, panic and rage cracking his voice.
Before he could even finish, Chloe’s foot smashed into his face, sending blood gushing from his nose.
Slightly satisfied, Chloe grabbed her suitcase and headed toward the gates, only to run into her three roommates lounging on the playground.
The three girls exchanged looks and snickered, seemingly talking trash about her.
Chloe couldn’t care less. ‘Go ahead and laugh. We’ll see if you could keep it when the apocalypse hits,‘ she thought, shooting them an icy smirk before walking away.
Anna tugged Mandy’s sleeve. “See Chloe’s suitcase. She isn’t gonna hook up with Harry, is she?”
Mandy shot to her feet, her face contorted with jealousy. “No freaking way.”
Diana snickered, “Why not? Harry’s got an apartment in Greengrove Estates near campus. Classes don’t start till tomorrow. Maybe we should crash and see if they’re hooking up.”
A flash of pure malice crossed Mandy’s eyes, but she played innocent. “Isn’t that going too far?”
“What’s wrong with that? She stole your boyfriend. You gonna let her get away with that? Let’s round up the girls and bust them,” Anna pushed.
Accidentally, Chloe owned a property in that upscale neighborhood.

To be first in line for the mutant flower on the school playground, she’d kept the property and used it as collateral for a 1.5 million dollar bank loan.
