Chapter 62Â
Honoria Capital group was involved in many tech industries, and among them, the chip company was developing the fastest.Â
It was through the chip project that Cassian expanded Honoria Capital and turned it into a powerhouse.Â
Compared to Aurelia’s tiny company, which couldn’t even get through the door, a tech giant like Honoria Capital was always treated like a guest of honor at these elite industry summits..Â
For them, getting invited was just business as usual.Â
Aurelia had thought about it.Â
It was just that, deep down, she resisted having any more contact or involvement with Cassian, which was why she hadn’t taken any action.Â
Jessica was the one to give her the push.Â
Jessica said, “Work is work, personal stuff is personal. No need to get the two all tangled up.”Â
“When you’re at the table, just keep it about business.”Â
“Our circle’s tiny anyway. You’re gonna run into him sooner or later, like it or not.”Â
“If you keep struggling to let it go, people will just think you’re still hung up on him.”Â
So after her talk with Jessica, Aurelia picked up the phone and called Cassian.Â
For once, Cassian picked up almost instantly.Â
But Aurelia guessed he was probably just scrolling through his phone and had answered without thinking.Â
“Mr. Locke, do you have a good time to talk?” Aurelia sounded all business.Â
“What exactly do you mean by a good time,” Cassian said back, a hint of teasing in his voice.Â
His voice, thinned and distorted by the phone’s signal, sounded almost unreal.Â
Maybe it had just been too long since she’d heard his voice, because suddenly it sounded strange to her.Â
“For example, I wouldn’t want to interrupt whatever good thing you’ve got going on.”Â
Cassian let out a soft chuckle. “And what if you are?”Â
“Then I’ll just wait till you’re done,” Aurelia replied smoothly.Â
Cassian chuckled again.Â
But this time, he almost sounded pissed off. Then she spoke through suppressed anger. “I’m not busy. WhatÂ

do you want?”Â
Aurelia got straight to the point, without any beating around the bush.Â
“I’ve got the invitation, but you know me, Aurelia–I don’t give out favors for nothing,” Cassian said.Â
‘How could I have forgotten that smug capitalist face of his?‘ Aurelia thought.Â
She forced down her annoyance and asked, “Then what are your terms, Mr. Locke?”Â
Cassian sounded totally nonchalant. “Aurelia, I’ve suddenly got a taste for some cake.”Â
Aurelia’s brows furrowed.Â
Probably it was Tessa who was behind this.Â
‘Isn’t she afraid of gaining weight eating cake this late at night?‘ Aurelia thought.Â
Grumbling to herself, Aurelia still went with Cassian’s deal.Â
‘One cake for two invitations? What a deal!‘ she thought.Â
As for the cake, there were plenty of bakeries around. Just buy one and be done with it.Â
After all, those two were in the kind of lovey–dovey phase where love alone could fill them up–they probably wouldn’t even notice if there was something off with the cake.Â
Cassian sent her the address–it was at a hotel.Â
As expected of a couple in love–they sure knew how to keep things “interesting“.Â
When Aurelia arrived, she gave her name at the front desk, and the staff personally escorted her up to the top–floor presidential suite.Â
Back when Aurelia was renovating his place, Cassian had been living in this very presidential suite for nearly six months.Â
The best part was, Aurelia herself was the one who picked out this hotel for him.Â
He always insisted on top–tier everything, with endless requirements.Â
Aurelia had searched all over Ashmont before she finally found a place that just barely lived up to Cassian’s expectations.Â
Without even realizing it, she’d ended up playing stepping stone for someone else again.Â
After all, it was not the first time that Aurelia was used to it.Â
She snickered to herself, wondering if those two ever felt weird having sex in a place she’d picked for him.Â
The hotel staff knocked on the door.Â

Aurelia waited off to the side.Â
Soon, Cassian opened up–fresh from a shower, dressed in just a bathrobe.Â
The robe was cut deep at the chest, and she could see the faint outline of his abs.Â
His hair was still damp, strands falling down to soften the hard, cold lines of his face.Â
Noticing the hotel staff at the door, Cassian wrapped his bathrobe a bit tighter and glanced over at Aurelia. “Come in.”Â
As the hotel staff left, he gave Aurelia one last, curious glance.Â
His look was openly curious, clearly wondering what was up.Â
Once inside, Aurelia set the cake down on the table and directly asked him for the invitation.Â
Cassian took his sweet time unwrapping the cake, then scooped up a bit with his finger and tasted it.Â
He let out a dry laugh. “You picked this up at whatever bakery was nearby, didn’t you? Aurelia, is this how you try to fool me?”Â
Aurelia shot back instantly, not missing a beat. “No way! I bought it from the same shop as before!”Â
After all, he had never really paid attention to the cakes she made before–he probably wouldn’t remember the taste.Â
Perhaps because she sounded so certain, Cassian didn’t seem to notice anything and didn’t ask about the cake again.Â
True to their deal, he handed over the invitations.Â
Aurelia’s face lit up as she opened it, but her smile froze in place. “Wait, there’s only one?”Â
Cassian leaned against the kitchen island, shaking his wet hair back with a lazy, careless gesture.Â
His bathrobe hung open at the collar, loose and casual.Â
Aurelia couldn’t help sneaking a couple more glances.Â
It was free, after all. It would be a waste not to take a look.Â
Cassian’s voice remained cold, but there was a hint of mockery in it. “The cake you brought is only worth one invitation. Do you understand?”Â
Aurelia was stunned.Â
She wanted to argue back, but before she could, Cassian’s phone rang on the table.Â
It was Tessa calling.Â
Cassian answered almost instantly. His tone was noticeably warmer than when he spoke to her, and a faint smile appeared on his face.Â
“I just took a shower and bought a cake. Do you want some? I can bring it over to you.”Â
Aurelia bit back her feelings and quietly left while the two shared their sweet moment.Â
As she stepped out, she bumped into the same hotel staff who’d escorted her earlier.Â
When the staff saw her clearly, a look of surprise appeared on his face.Â
Aurelia gave her a quick grin. “Pretty fast, huh?”Â
The staff just stared, momentarily speechless.Â
‘Yeah… that was kinda quick,‘ the staff thought to himself.Â
The next morning, as Cassian headed out for work, the hotel staff were just switching shifts.Â
The staff from last night gave him a strange look as he greeted him.Â
There was a mix of sympathy and pity in his eyes.Â
He even shook his head behind Cassian back.Â
He’s a perfectly good guy–so how did it happen so fast?‘ He thought to himself.Â
*****Â
Miranda didn’t show up until Monday afternoon, saying Honoria Capital had kept her busy.Â
She was about to quit, and they were still dumping work on her like crazy.Â
‘It’s peak exploitation!‘ Miranda grumbled, feeling completely wrung out.Â
She had been holding back a whole lot of frustration, and the moment she saw Aurelia, she let it all out.Â
“You have no idea how unreasonable Mr. Locke is! I already told him I was quitting today, but he still made me work all morning–booking flights, reserving hotels… it was so annoying that I could scream.” Miranda grumbled.Â
“That took the whole morning?” Aurelia asked, just making casual conversation.Â
Miranda couldn’t hold it in anymore. “It’s not just Mr. Locke! There’s Tessa, her cousin, and even her cousin’s boyfriend–I had to book flights for all of them! Can you believe how ridiculous that is?”Â
“That’s seriously out of line,” Aurelia said, not holding back.Â
Cassian honestly spoiled Tessa so much that Aurelia had truly lost count.Â
“Mr. Locke’s going to the AI Technology Leaders Summit and AGI Innovation & Global Expansion Summit,Â

not on vacation! I mean, I honestly have no clue what all those people are tagging along for!” Miranda grumbled.Â
Aurelia froze for a moment when she caught that key phrase, her mind racing.Â
She blinked and asked, “Seriously? You mean every single one of them is going to the Al summit?”Â
“Yep, the whole crew! Tessa’s team alone has like five or six people headed over–and that’s not even counting her cousin and that guy she’s dating.”Â
‘Ridiculous. Aurelia thought.Â
When it came to her, he’d be stingy over just one thing, acting like he was doing her a favor.Â
But with Tessa, he seemed ready to give her everything–his heart, soul, and even more.Â
It was unbelievable.Â
