Chapter 71 

Things were moving faster than Aurelia had expected, but she was fine with it. 

However, it indirectly showed that Cassian never considered developing a normal relationship with Aurelia over the last seven years. 

Aurelia pulled her headphones from her purse and slipped them on, determined to block out every bit of noise and drama from the world around her. 

The people in the front row kept on talking. 

The guy was practically asking Karlie Pelosi, his girlfriend, and trying to dig up every juicy detail about Cassian so he could get on his good side later. 

“So your cousin landed herself quite the catch, huh? I mean, we’re talking about Cassian. The whole Locke Group is backing him!” the guy blurted out. 

Karlie couldn’t help but beam with pride. ” My cousin definitely married up, but Cassian, her boyfriend, is head over heels for her! I even heard he had waited for my cousin for seven years! What a devoted lover he is! Love can bridge any gap.” 

“Your cousin’s family is going to soar from here on out,” the guy remarked. The jealousy in his tone was impossible to miss. 

“I’ve been super close to my aunt ever since I was little. If my cousin turns things around, it’s as good as me striking it rich! Just wait till I become the chief secretary at Honoria Capital. Whatever connections or perks you need, say the word, and I’ll make it happen!” Karlie bragged. 

Karlie’s boyfriend swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. 

Honestly, Karlie wasn’t qualified to work at Honoria Capital with her academic background and capabilities. 

All it took was Tessa mentioning Karlie to Cassian. Just like that, Karlie landed a spot at Honoria Capital without even going through the interview process. 

It could tell how deeply Cassian felt for Tessa. He went the extra mile for her, even welcoming her friends and family with open arms because they’re important to her. 

Tyson Morris’s brows furrowed deeply as he listened in. 

He glanced at Aurelia with concern, mentally weighing whether he should speak up and ask the people in front to keep their voices down. 

However, he found that Aurelia was not affected by those two people. She slipped on her headphones and promptly drifted into a peaceful sleep, tuning out the chatter completely. 

‘Aurelia didn’t even blink–totally unfazed, like none of the drama could touch her,‘ Tyson thought. 

Still, Tyson nudged the back of the seat in front, giving the two a subtle hint to lower their voices so everyone else could get some shut–eye. 

Chapter 71 

Karlie shot a disgruntled look, but she clamped her lips and let it go. After all, it was a public setting, and she 

was wrong. 

The plane finally touched down in Vireston after nightfall. 

It looked like Aurelia’d hit the nighttime rush. People were packed at the exit, all lining up for cabs. 

Aurelia booked a budget hotel to cut down on expenses, so the hotel didn’t offer an airport pickup service, so she had to follow the crowd and head out with everyone else. 

A cold front had swept down south those past few days, and Vireston was a few degrees chillier than Ashmont. 

Tyson, worried she’d get cold, pulled off his jacket and insisted on putting it on Aurelia’s shoulders. 

Aurelia couldn’t say no to his kindness, so she just smiled and let him do it. 

Meanwhile, the five–star hotel where Cassian was staying had sent a luxury van to pick him up at the airport. 

Since they took the VIP lane, they walked straight out and hopped right into the van. 

However, with all the traffic, it took forever to inch forward. 

Tessa couldn’t help craning her neck to look around, and sure enough, she spotted Aurelia and Tyson waiting in the crowd. 

“Huh, that’s Aurelia,” Tessa said, a bit surprised herself. 

Cassian had been glued to his phone, but at Tessa’s comment, he looked up and gave a glance in their direction. 

“With Mr. Morris again, huh? It looks like the relationship between the two is developing fast. They’re even traveling together,” Tessa remarked, sounding almost amused. 

Cassian seemed uninterested in Aurelia’s affairs. He barely gave them a passing glance before going right back to whatever he was doing on his phone. 

Tessa watched Cassian’s reaction closely. 

Cassian remained completely unmoved when he saw Aurelia standing so close to another well–off guy in an intimate manner. 

His reaction was completely flat. 

A smug little smile curled at the corners of Tessa’s mouth. 

The summit wasn’t until the third day, but Aurelia and Tyson had rolled in a day ahead for their plans. 

Tyson’s professor happened to be a VIP guest at the AI summit. He’d tested out InquireMind recently and found it fascinating, so he called Tyson up and asked him to get to Vireston early. 

Chapter 1 

He said he wanted to meet Tyson to talk about InquireMind. 

They’d originally planned to meet somewhere close to the hotel they checked into, but the location was switched at the last minute. 

Aurelia did a bit of digging into Tyson’s professor beforehand. 

The professor was a legend in the tech scene, having guided loads of students over the years. However, he was picky. Very few of them have met his standards.. 

Tyson was one of them. 

Tyson said his professor was reserved and strict, the type who rarely showed any warmth. 

Back at school, the professor was famous for setting impossibly high standards. 

If his student’s work didn’t impress him, he wouldn’t even bother sparing it a second look. 

Every graduation season, the most common line the professor wrote in his evaluations was: “Don’t go around telling people I’m your professor after you graduate.” 

“So, graduating is basically like getting kicked out by your professor?” Aurelia said with a wry smile. “Honestly, it reminds me a lot of mine.” 

Tyson thought it was rare for Aurelia to open up about herself. Feeling curious, he asked, “What did your professor teach?” 

“Finance. But I got the boot, too,” Aurelia replied with a little laugh. 

Tyson didn’t ask any more. Instead, he said, “Most dedicated professors are strict. Take mine–even though he’s a VIP at this summit, he still wouldn’t pull any strings to get his students an invitation. 

“Like he always says, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. If one wants anything, one has to earn it oneself. That’s why I never even mentioned the invitation to him.” 

Tyson couldn’t help but feel guilty about that. 

He knew Aurelia must’ve jumped through a lot of hoops to get the two invitations. 

Aurelia was way more upbeat than he was, always seeing things from a different angle. 

“See? Your professor called you specifically to ask you to come in advance. He must think our Inquire Mind project has done a great job and up to his high bar,” Aurelia said confidently. 

Tyson nodded. ‘Yeah, she’s probably right,‘ he thought, feeling his nerves settle a bit. 

Aurelia’s spirits soared. “I have a great feeling about this. The summit’s gonna be a huge win for us!” 

Half an hour later, they pulled up to the place where they were meeting up with Tyson’s professor. 

It was a high–end restaurant. 

Chapter /1 

Tyson was pretty taken aback because his professor was known for being super thrifty. 

‘How could he come to such a high–end restaurant for a meal? Did we get the place wrong?‘ Tyson wondered. 

After a moment’s hesitation, Tyson decided to call his professor to make sure. 

While Aurelia waited patiently, a sleek luxury van pulled up smoothly right in front of her. 

‘Must be a guest at the restaurant,‘ Aurelia thought. 

Aurelia made sure to step aside, worried she might be in their way. 

However, she wasn’t expecting Cassian to step out of the van. 

Cassian did glance at Aurelia when he got out, but his gaze barely lingered. He turned and helped Tessa out of the car. 

Aurelia just calmly looked away. 

Karlie followed Tessa out of the car. 

Karlie started chattering the moment her feet hit the ground. “I looked it up online. This is the fanciest restaurant in Vireston! And it really lives up to the hype–so upscale and classy! 

“Cassian! Thanks for making my wish come true!” 

It was obvious Karlie was talking to Cassian. 

Cassian didn’t bat an eye when he heard Karlie’s words. 

Obviously, it wasn’t the first time Karlie had called him that. 

Cassian shrugged, saying, “As long as you’re happy.” 

Tessa noticed Aurelia a moment later and looked a little surprised. 

Meanwhile, Tyson finished his call to confirm the address. 

He turned to Aurelia and said, “This is it. Looks like we’re in the right place. Let’s head inside.” 

“Alright,” Aurelia replied. 

Aurelia didn’t even spare Cassian, Tessa, or the others a glance. She walked right into the restaurant with Tyson like nothing had happened.
