Chapter 76

Let’s order in. Eating out is kind of pricey, Aurelia said.

Tyson was pretty persistent. It’s not pricey at all. We should eat at a restaurant.”

Sure, Aurelia shrugged, figuring it was a simple meal and not giving it any more thought.

Besides, she had other important things to deal with right now.

Tyson was busy getting ready for the main presentation.

Aurelia went over to chat with Jannik Brody, the staffer she’d just worked with, and lent a hand while they talked.

You guys have been working nonstop today,Aurelia said, handing out bottles of water she’d bought for everyone.

Thanks, Ms. Corin,” Jannik replied.

The rest of the crew gratefully accepted the water and expressed their thanks.

Don’t mention it. You all have been at it for hours. Take a breather. I’ll help you move these display boards,Aurelia offered.

These are heavy, Ms. Corin. Why don’t you let us handle them?Jannik said.

It’s no big deal! I got this. You guys just relax and drink your water, Aurelia shot back.

Aurelia never hesitated to jump in. She scooped up a hefty stack of display boards and marched straight toward the exhibition arca.

Wearing her heels, she struggled with boards taller than herself, tilting her head and weaving awkwardly through the crowd.

Her posture was far from graceful, and she kept muttering apologies every time she bumped into someone along the way.

Jasper was out for a walk with Tessa when he saw Aurelia struggling. He scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain. She was born to be a doormat.”

Tessa glanced Aurelia’s way, then immediately lost interest, barely sparing Aurelia a thought.

Ever since Tessa found out Cassian had zero feelings for Aurelia, she stopped caring about Aurelia entirely.

Let alone ever truly seeing her as competition.

Jasper was still salty about getting put in his place earlier, muttering under his breath, She’s always been this way, clinging to Cassian like some pathetic stray. Everyone around Cassian said she was a mutt he could never get rid of. They all looked down on her and never recognized her as one of their own.”

Realizing he wasn’t wording things right, Jasper quickly corrected himself, saying, I mean, Cassian never actually acknowledged her, never gave her any status. Cassian’s only got feelings for you.”

If Jasper wasn’t afraid Cassian would chew him out for running his mouth, he’d have told Tessa that Cassian was even willing to be the side guy for her.

Tessa absolutely loved hearing it. Her grin kept getting wider. Cassian’s here.”

Cassian had only been gone for a few minutes, but Tessa felt it was like ages. She hurried over to meet him, practically glowing with happiness.

Cassian, she called out.

Cassian was in the middle of a conversation, but when he heard her voice, he turned and asked, Did you find your booth?”

Yes, I did. It’s actually a good spot,Tessa replied.

Terrific.Cassian said.

Come on, I’ll show you,Tessa said, grabbing his hand.

Alright.”

Tessa’s booth was already set up, and her team was working away in perfect sync, handling everything with ease.

Meanwhile, the other booths were chaos, everyone running around like their hair was on fire.

That was all thanks to Cassian. He’d hooked her up with enough summit invitations for her to bring her whole team along.

With so many hands on deck and everything wellprepared, they were way ahead of the game.

Mr. Locke, is this location to your liking?”

One of the organizers made his way over and nodded to Cassian.

Tessa caught the hint right away, a playful look in her eyes as she said, Cassian, you arranged this booth for me, didn’t you?”

Cassian hesitated, a soft smile flickering. So you figured me out, huh?”

Tessa’s grin grew even wider. Thank you, Cassian.”

Jasper, off to the side and feeling a bit salty, grumbled. Seriously, are you two showing off your affection in public like this? Is there anyone who can help a single guy like me out here?”

Tessa’s booth was right at the heart of the venue, catching everyone’s attention.

With Tessa and Cassian, both totally stunning, standing together, they were even more of a magnet for the crowd.

They were like walking advertisements, drawing a steady stream of curious visitors eager to check out their products.

Tessa wasted no time, enthusiastically introducing the products, handing out flyers, inviting folks to try things out, and encouraging everyone to leave reviews and suggestions.

She even gave out freebies to everyone who came by to try the products.

However, each freebie was actually worth over thirty dollars.

Tessa went all out and had a thousand of them ready, just flexing at everyone.

With Cassian backing her, the budget was never an issue. He’d never told her to hold back, not once.

Cassian watched from the sidelines as Tessa hustled back and forth. When she finally stopped for a break, he twisted open a bottle of water and passed it to her.

One of the girls filling out the suggestion card blurted out, Wow, your boyfriend is amazing!”

The other girls tossed jealous glances Tessa’s way.

Tessa couldn’t stop smiling.

Meanwhile, Aurelia’s sweat was as stubborn as Tessa’s smile…

Though hers was from all the work she was putting in.

After finally getting a breather, Aurelia sat down, took a swig of water, and started rubbing the back of her heels where her shoes had rubbed them raw. She was wiped out.

That was when she found herself watching yet another sappy couple moment unfold right before her eyes.

Honestly, it was pretty heartwarming.

Even Aurelia was almost swept away by that sweetness. She was that close to getting all emotional herself!

Jannik really appreciated Aurelia’s help. Ms. Corin, I managed to snag a pretty prime spot for your display.”

That’s awesome. Thank you so much!Aurelia replied.

No problem at all. You’ve helped us out a ton,Jannik said.

Jannik liked working with someone as gorgeous and sharp as Aurelia, who had high emotional intelligence and knew how to connect with people.

Aurelia always jumped in to help out, never waited for instructions, and didn’t ask for a thing in return.

That was why Jannik was happy to give her a hand whenever he could.

Aurelia shared the good news with Tyson, and they wasted no time getting their stuff ready for the booth.

Just then, Jannik’s supervisor walked over, looking all serious. Wasn’t this spot supposed to go to SkyLine?”

Jannik explained quickly that SkyLine had chosen a different spot instead.

Even if SkyLine doesn’t want it, that doesn’t mean you can give it away to someone else! Take everything down, the supervisor snapped.

But, sirJannik started, trying to explain.

I said take it down!the supervisor barked, shutting down any arguments before they could even start.

Jannik could only do as he was told, reluctantly dismantling the booth.

Jannik apologized to Aurelia, but she quickly waved it off, telling him it was no big deal.

However, there were basically no good spots left to grab after that whole mess.

Tyson, worried Aurelia might get discouraged, tried to cheer her up. Even if we get stuck with a booth on the sidelines, what counts is our product and core tech.”

However, Aurelia bounced back way quicker than Tyson expected. You go and get the booth ready. I’ll take care of the flyers, she said, sounding upbeat and relaxed.

Without hesitation at all, Aurelia grabbed a fat stack of flyers from her bag and dove right into the crowd, moving through

the crowd.

She kept smiling the whole time, handing out flyers to everyone with a friendly little bow.

If someone turned her down, she wouldn’t let it bother her. She just moved on and kept going, passing out flyers like a

machine.

Watching Aurelia hustling like that lit a fire under Tyson, too. He rolled up his sleeves and got serious about setting up their

booth.

However, the moment he finished setting everything up, chaos broke loose. A careless passerby knocked over a stack of stuff in front of their booth, and the laptop went tumbling straight to the floor.

Before Tyson could even blink, a foot in redsoled pointed leather shoes stepped on the laptop.

A loud crack split the air as the foot hit home.

The screen split open on impact, shattering into a spiderweb of broken glass.

It all went down in a blink. Tyson was so stunned he couldn’t even react.

Aurelia heard the racket and hurried over to check out the situation.

Oops, didn’t notice. Whatever I broke, tell me how much, the person said, sounding totally casual.

The words were normal enough, but the tone was off, and it sounded terrible.

More like some crazy mutt snapping at people.

Aurelia squinted. Yep, it was Jasper, the infamous jerk.

When Aurelia turned back, Jasper shot her a lookfullon challenge, daring her to say something.

Yeah, no doubt he did that on purpose. Aurelia thought, feeling her temper flare,

Is the laptop still working?Aurelia asked Tyson, anxious.

That laptop was everything to them right now. They couldn’t afford to lose it.

Just cracked the screen. The rest works fine. We can still use screen mirroring to hook it up,Tyson said, trying to sound chill.

Aurelia finally breathed a sigh of relief, then turned to face Jasper, the actual troublemaker.

Her gaze was razorsharp and downright intimidating. Jasper had never seen Aurelia exude such intense authority before. For a moment, he even felt like he was getting instantly crushed under her stare.

Cassian and Tessa arrived on the scene right before Aurelia could unleash her temper.

What’s going on here?Cassian demanded, casting a sweeping glance over the mess and locking his eyes on Jasper.

I just knocked their stuff over by accident, and Aurelia is glaring at me like she’s ready to tear me apart,” Jasper said, making it sound like he was the one getting bullied.

Cassian seemed to believe Jasper’s words. His tone was as indifferent as ever when he said, Whatever you lost, I’ll pay it back at the going rate.”
