“If I want something, he’ll back me up all the way” 

As long as she wanted, Cassian was her ace in the hole. 

She really did have bragging rights. 

That was why she had the guts to try and poach Tyson. 

Knowing it in her head was one thing, but seeing it with her own eyes was something else entirely. 

Aurelia wasn’t sure what she felt. 

It didn’t really hurt, nor did it itch. Just nothing in particular. 

It just left her feeling uneasy. 

In the end, Aurelia agreed to the partnership. Cassian was offering way too much to turn down. 

When money was practically falling into her lap, there was no way she’d say no! 

Cassian didn’t hold back at all when it came to backing Tessa up. 

He was even willing to share Honoria Capital’s core technology with others. 

Once the deal was sealed, Breon was thrilled and kept pouring drinks for the two of them. 

Just as Aurelia picked up her glass, Cassian jumped in, “She can’t really handle alcohol. I’ll drink for her.” 

Breon looked surprised. “Wait, do you two know each other?” 

‘Otherwise, how would he know if she could drink or not?‘ he wondered. 

“Yeah, we know each other,” Cassian said. 

“Nope, we don’t,” Aurelia replied. 

They both answered at the same time, but gave completely different answers. 

Breon was left scratching his head. “So, do you guys know each other or not?” 

“If she says we don’t, then we don’t,” Cassian said, sounding kind of resigned. 

‘I have no idea why he’s acting so resigned,‘ Aurelia thought. 

In the end, she didn’t drink at all. 

Cassian ended up drinking a lot with Breon. 

Aurelia paid attention to it. 

She could tell Cassian’s allergy training had really paid off. He drank all that booze without any hint of an allergic reaction. 

‘He must’ve spent plenty of time covering for Tessa lately, and that’s how he built up his tolerance, Aurelia thought. 

She sipped her coffee, but found it strangely astringent. 

Chapter 94 

But the waiter had said this coffee cost over three thousand dollars per pound 

When the dinner wrapped up and they stepped outside, a light drizzie was falling 

Aurelia texted Miranda to let her know she was done and to come pick her up. 

Since it was a business dinner, there was bound to be some drinking. 

So Aurelia didn’t drive herself. She handed her car keys to Miranda instead. 

Cassian’s silver Maybach was parked right outside. 

Wesley had been waiting there for quite a while. 

When he saw her, he greeted her with a nod. 

Wesley helped Cassian get into the car. 

Just as Wesley was about to close the door, Cassian called out, “Wait a second.” 

Both of them looked over at Aurelia at the same time. 

Aurelia caught on to what Cassian was implying. 

But she just turned away and walked to the other side, insisting on waiting for Miranda to pick her up. 

Wesley gave Cassian a cautious look. 

Cassian went back to his usual cold and nonchalant self, and said in a flat tone, “Let’s go.” 

Miranda showed up a bit late. 

Aurelia just stood by the curb, letting the cold wind clear her mind. 

Cassian had been putting himself through desensitization training, all so he could cover for Tessa at those drinking parties. 

‘But really, wasn’t she doing the same?‘ Aurelia thought to herself. 

All this time, she’d been working on emotionally desensitizing herself. 

So now, even when Cassian was standing right in front of her, she could keep her composure as if he were just anyone else.

The day before New Year’s, Aurelia had the contract ready and went to Honoria Capital herself to get Cassian’s signature. 

This was her first time back at Honoria Capital since she’d left. 

Standing in front of that familiar entrance, it felt like ages had passed. almost surreal. 

The receptionist spotted Aurelia and lit up, “Ms. Corin! I can’t believe it’s you!” 

Aurelia smiled and corrected her, “I don’t work here anymore. Just call me Aurelia, or Ms. Corin.” 

She handed over her business card. “I’ve got an appointment with Mr. Locke.” 

“Oh, right! Mr. Locke told me you’d be coming! Please, this way!” The receptionist said, leading her in. 

Aurelia said, “You can get back to work, I’ll find my way.” 

Chapter 94. 

Aurelia knew this was the busiest time for the front desk. 

Since Aurelia knew her way around Honoria Capital, the receptionist didn’t mind letting her go up alone. 

As the elevator reached the tenth floor, someone stepped in. 

It was Nadia from Strategic Division Two. 

When she saw Aurelia, she froze for a second, then let out a dismissive snort. 

Another colleague from Strategic Division Two came in with her. 

She gave Aurelia a small nod as a greeting. 

As soon as the elevator doors slid shut, Nadia let out a cold snort. “Shouldn’t we strengthen security around here? How come just anyone can walk in now?” 

Her colleague didn’t dare say a word. 

When the elevator reached the twelfth floor, Yvonne from the secretary department stepped in. As soon as she saw Aurelia, she immediately greeted her with respect, “Ms. Corin, the front desk told me you were here. I was just about to come down and get you, but I see you made it up on your own.” 

“No need to be so formal. I know my way around, so I just came up myself,” Aurelia replied. 

Aurelia paused for a moment and glanced at Nadia. 

“But next time, I’ll just wait for you downstairs. Wouldn’t anyone think I’m just some random person hanging around,” she added. 

Yvonne quickly said, “Ms. Corin, you’re one of our partners at Honoria Capital. How could anyone think you’re just some random person? Did someone say something out of line? Just let me know, and I’ll make sure Mr. Locke hears about it!” 

Cassian was super strict about this kind of thing. He absolutely wouldn’t tolerate any office gossip. 

If anyone got caught, they’d be fired on the spot and never allowed to work at Honoria Capital again. 

Nadia felt a chill run down her spine. 

She shot Aurelia a nervous look, clearly hoping Aurelia would show her some mercy and keep quiet. 

But Aurelia wasn’t exactly a saint. She wasn’t about to hand out charity just because Nadia wanted her to. 

“Well, you can ask Ms. Robbins yourself and see what she has to say,” Aurelia replied. 

Nadia’s face went ghostly pale. 

Aurelia didn’t bother dwelling on Nadia’s pale face. By then, the elevator had already arrived at Cassian’s office. 

Yvonne led Aurelia into the conference room, where Breon was already there, chatting with Cassian. 

When Aurelia walked in, Breon grinned and waved her over. “Ms. Corin, you’re here! Have a seat.” 

Out of habit, Breon pointed to the spot right next to Cassian. 

But Aurelia headed for the other side of the table, making it clear she wanted some space from Cassian. “I’ll just sit here.” 

Breon didn’t think twice about it. “It’s all good. We’re basically done. just waiting on you.”

The terms had already been settled, so now it was just about hashing out the details. Aurelia knew Cassian was willing to take a hit on Honoria Capital’s side just to save Lace So she went all out. She pushed for the best deal possible for both Regal Investment am She’d been worried Cassian might shoot her down. 

If this were before, he would’ve shut it down for sure. 

But this time, he didn’t say a word, just signed the contract without a second thought. 

I never thought Cassian had it in him to be such a simp, Aurelia thought to herself. 

He’d really sacrifice anything just to boost Tessa’s career.

Just as they were wrapping up their conversation, the conference room door suddenly swung open. 

Aurelia raised an eyebrow, knowing who was coming without looking. 

Honoria Capital had some seriously strict rules. 

But there was only one person who could get away with breaking them. 

It was Tessa. 

Tessa came bouncing in, all smiles. “Cassian!” 

Only then did she notice there were other people in the room. 

“Oh, sorry! I had no idea anyone else was here. I thought it was just Cassian, so I just walked right in. Hope I didn’t interrupt anything,” she said. 

‘It seems that Cassian has given Tessa the VIP pass to skip knocking, too.‘ Aurelia sneered. 

Considering the nature of their relationship, she wasn’t surprised at all. 

Even Breon didn’t mind. He just joked, “No worries, we’re pretty much done here anyway. Looks like it’s time to let you have Cassian back.” 

Tessa laughed. “Mr. Youngkin, stop teasing me! It’s lunchtime. How about joining us for a meal?” 

There were other people in the room besides Breon, but Tessa was obviously going out of her way to ignore Aurelia. 

Aurelia picked up her bag, making it clear she had no intention of sticking around. 

Cassian called out to her just as she was about to leave. “Aurelia, why don’t you stay and have lunch with us?”
