Tessa was no quitter. So what if that woman was with him for seven years? 

When it came to men, she could overtake Aurelia. When it came to career, she could overtake Aurelia too!

Aurelia knew that Tessa was doing this deliberately, but she never thought she would go this far. 

Throwing a celebration party on the same day as her press con was bad enough, but that woman went further by booking the same hotel as well. 

Aurelia didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when Miranda told her about it. 

“Aurelia, perhaps we should avoid a direct confrontation?” Miranda asked worriedly. 

Based on Miranda’s analysis, Tessa was at the peak of her game right now. If Aurelia’s team clashed head–to–head with her, InquireMind might not stand a chance. 

It made sense to keep their heads down and move the press conference to another venue. 

In the past, Aurelia might have accepted Miranda’s suggestion and changed the press conference venue. 

After all, she wasn’t the reckless type. She would always put the project’s interests and prospects first. 

But now, she had full confidence in herself, so she would rise to the challenge. 

Miranda couldn’t understand why Aurelia decided to fight back, but she knew Aurelia had her own considerations. 

Therefore, she didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, she followed all of Aurelia’s instructions dutifully. 

On Tyson’s side, he, too, had complete faith in Aurelia and her decisions. 

Three days later, the press conference went ahead as planned. 

When Tessa heard the news, she gave an almost imperceptible smirk. 

She used to think Aurelia was smart. But now, it seemed she had overestimated her. 

At any rate, at least Aurelia would finally realize her own pathetic true worth. 

Other than a pretty face, she had nothing else to offer. 

‘How can she hold a candle to me? I have far more than just outstanding good looks!‘ Tessa gloated inwardly. 

When Cassian went to see Aurelia after getting drunk, it did bother Tessa a little. 

But after mulling over it, she didn’t think there was anything wrong for a guy to feel a bit possessive about an ex. 

After all, she herself was always keeping tabs on Gideon. 

However, she was only keeping an eye on him, nothing more. There could never be anything else, and nothing could ever happen between them. 

They were all adults, and weighing the pros and cons was just what grown–ups did. 

Besides, if Cassian really wanted to go further with Aurelia, he would have made a move in the past seven years.

Tessa was smart enough not to bring up this matter. 

And Cassian didn’t talk about it either. 

But their relationship wasn’t affected in any way. 

Cassian was more attentive to her now than in the past. In fact, he was the one who came up with the idea of a celebration 

party. 

He didn’t set any limits on the scale or budget. He would give her whatever she wanted. 

Thus, Tessa did not hold back and planned a very grand celebration party for AeroMind. 

This was Tessa’s first big celebration party since returning from overseas, and it meant a great deal to her. 

She invited all her relatives and friends to let them witness her proudest moment. 

After this event, she would finally break into the world of big money. 

With Cassian backing her up, she was sure it wouldn’t be long before she carved out a spot for herself among Ashmont’s elite. 

Hence, for today’s event, Tessa was dressed to the nines. 

Her gown and jewelry were the best designer pieces that money could buy. A single piece of jewelry was easily worth 

millions. 

Karlie was practically green with envy. “Cassian certainly pampers you a lot! I’m so jealous!” 

Tessa was practically beaming with happiness. “Come on, Curlison treats you pretty well too, doesn’t he?” 

Karlie rolled her eyes. “Please, he’s totally broke! After all these years, the total cost of everything he’s ever given me doesn’t even come close to the price of just one of those designer bags Cassian gave you!” 

“That can’t be helped. That’s all he’s capable of,” Tessa consoled her. 

It was not known whether it was due to often seeing Cassian showering Tessa with expensive gifts, but Karlie’s mindset underwent drastic changes over time. 

She began to look down on Curlison Dunne, and they had been fighting more and more often. 

Just last week, they had a massive argument. In the end, she yelled that she wanted to break up with him and blocked him on every app she could think of. 

As a result, she was very moody and absent–minded at work these past couple of days. When she saw how Tessa was living it up, it only made her hate her own life even more. 

“Tessa, Curlison and I are over. I’m single now. Can you hook me up with someone?” Karlie pleaded. 

Not surprisingly, Tessa knew what Karlie was after. “Who has caught your eye? I’ll help you inquire.” 

Karlie’s cheeks turned pink as she became bashful. “The guy Liajn Porter, from Nietzki Corp.” 

“Not bad. I’ll arrange something and create opportunities for you,” Tessa said with a knowing smile. 

At least she wasn’t interested in Jasper Marrick, that spoiled rich kid. 

“Thanks, Tessa! I hope both you and Cassian will lead a life full of happiness!” Karlie gushed.

Tessa checked herself out in the mirror and was very pleased with her looks. Brimming with self–confidence, she replied, “We will.”

Miranda was taken aback when she saw Aurelia. “Aurelia, are you sure you want to wear that?” 

“What’s wrong?” Aurelia glanced at her clothes, which seemed very normal to her. These were what she usually wore. 

“But you are going to the press conference today. Don’t you want to dress up for the occasion?” Miranda was quite puzzled. 

“The real stars at the press conference are Tyson and his team. They’re the brains behind InquireMind. I’m just the investor. It is not right for me to steal the limelight,” Aurelia explained matter–of–factly. 

The logic of Aurelia’s words hit Miranda like a bolt, and she suddenly saw things in a whole new light. 

Indeed, she could learn so many gems of wisdom from Aurelia! 

Although the press conference was scheduled for nine in the morning, Aurelia was already at the hotel by 7:30 a.m. 

It was a habit drilled into her by Cassian’s relentless pursuit of perfection over the years. 

This was to allow time to double–check every detail and make sure nothing could go wrong. 

And even if something did go wrong, she would still have time to rectify things or put up alternative solutions. 

After checking everything, Aurelia had a quick word with Tyson. 

Everything was in place and ready. 

However, there was no one in sight in the lobby. Not a single media representative showed up. 

Tyson looked very worried and kept wiping the sweat off his forehead. 

Miranda was equally worried. She kept darting outside multiple times to check. 

There were actually many guests outside, but they were all making a beeline for AeroMind’s celebration party. 

No one was heading to the hall hosting InquireMind’s press conference. 

The lobby for AeroMind’s party venue was practically overflowing with guests, whereas the lobby at InquireMind’s press conference was empty. 

The contrast was glaring. 

The atmosphere at InquireMind’s venue became very gloomy, but everyone still kept working in silence. 

Aurelia was the only one who remained unfazed. Once she finished helping with the final equipment checks, everything was finally ready. 

When she saw the glum faces, she rallied the team and encouraged everyone to keep their spirits up. 

Miranda was very impressed with how undeterred Aurelia was and asked how she could stay so unflappable. 

Aurelia thought for a while before answering, “Probably picked it up from Cassian.” 

Granted, Cassian had his share of flaws when it came to romantic relationships, but when it came to doing business, his business acumen was unmatched. He was a natural–born in this field.

After years of working alongside him, Aurelia had learned a lot from him. 

When international sanctions hit the chip industry years ago, Cassian still threw everything he had into building high- performance computing chips. 

No one believed in him. Everyone thought he would fail miserably. 

Cassian was constantly jetting between countries, headhunting top talent, building his team from scratch, knocking on investors‘ doors, and trying ways and means to secure deals… 

But there were stumbling blocks at every step along the way. 

The lowest point in his career was when a foreign investor shut him out completely, while folks back home mocked him for overreaching himself. 

Back then, Aurelia was also a bundle of nerves, just like Miranda was now.

He told Aurelia that they should never give up until every option was exhausted.
