Chapter 104

After calming everyone down, Aurelia finally had time to step outside and check on the situation.

It was 8:30 am. now, and the place was getting more crowded.

However, the people were flocking to AeroMind’s event.

As luck would have it, Aurelia bumped into Graham Vance the moment she stepped outside.

Graham felt very awkward. Earlier, when Aurelia sent him the invite, he had made up some excuse, saying that he was busy and would not be able to come.

Now that he was caught by Aurelia when he was here for AcroMind’s party, he didn’t know what to say to her.

Aurelia spoke first. “Are you here for AeroMind’s party, Graham? Just turn left after this entrance. Their venue is over there.”

With a strained expression, Graham scratched his head in embarrassment and mumbled, “Uh, Aurelia… I’ll try to drop by your press conference later to give you some support.”

Aurelia knew Graham was only being polite and didn’t take him seriously.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Graham bid farewell.

Just then, Cassian’s father, Benjamin, called her on her phone. Surprised, Aurelia quickly answered it.

Aurelia had not told Benjamin about InquireMind’s press conference.

Yet, somehow, he got wind of it and was calling to inquire about the progress.

Aurelia told him vaguely that everything was going smoothly on her end.

“That’s good to hear,” Benjamin replied.

Right after Aurelia ended the call from Benjamin, Jasper strolled in.

He could have proceeded to AeroMind’s party directly, but he deliberately made a detour to Aurelia’s lobby.

His intentions were obvious. He was here to mock Aurelia.

Jasper smirked, “Gosh, what kind of product launch is this? Where’s everyone? Are you guys doing this to entertain yourselves?”

Aurelia couldn’t be bothered with him.

Jasper had shown up with a whole entourage behind him. His guys were carrying a giant bouquet of sunflowers,

He had deliberately specified sunflowers.

Didn’t Gideon give Aurelia sunflowers at the summit? Now he was going to do the same thing!

And his bouquet would be ten times bigger than Gideon’s! He would show them!

Jasper’s intention was to make sure Aurelia knew she was not in the same league as Tessa.

“Coming through! Coming through!” The guys carrying the flowers yelled a few times before shoving Aurelia aside.

Aurelia lost her balance and collided with the glass door behind her.

Thump! Aurelia’s head hit the glass so hard that she saw stars.

Jasper feigned surprise before saying, “So sorry, I didn’t see you there. If you are hurt, just let me know. I’ll pay for your

medical fees.”

His offer rang very hollow since it was blatantly clear that such a minor contusion hardly warranted medical attention.

He was doing this to irk her.

Just as Aurelia was about to tick him off, she received another call.

This time it was from Russell Garfield.

Aurelia cast Jasper’s provocation aside and answered the call.

Russell informed her he would be bringing some students to the product launch as part of their learning experience, and asked if Aurelia was able to accommodate them.

“Absolutely! Professor Garfield, feel free to bring everyone here. Just let me know when you arrive and I’ll come out to meet you,” Aurelia replied.

“Great!” Russell was a professor and PhD advisor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at one of the country’s top universities.

He was also a member of the panel of experts for the national robotics R&D program.

On top of that, he was the vice president of the Artificial Intelligence Society.

His presence at the product launch would be a huge boost for InquireMind.

Therefore, there was no way InquireMind would be left out in the cold.

Aurelia was going back into the hall to share the good news with Tyson when Gideón showed up.

She straightaway assumed he was going to AeroMind’s party.

After all, Gideon did have a special relationship with Tessa.

Thus, she pointed him in the right direction. “AeroMind’s party is over there on the left.”

Gideon grinned. “I’m here for InquireMind’s launch.”

After a pause, he added half in jest, “Are you going to drive me away?”

“Oh, I thought you were going to the party?”

“Nope, I’m here just for the press con for InquireMind’s launch. Nothing else on my schedule today,” Gideon said in no uncertain terms.

He was trying to hint to her, hoping that she would understand his gesture.

However, Aurelia thought he was here because he was an investor and didn’t give it another thought.

“In that case, this way please, Mr. Marrick,” she said with a smile as she led the way for him.

Gideon watched her walk ahead and couldn’t help sighing inwardly.

To think that he still had no luck, just like it was back in their student days….

If it weren’t for the fact that she had just ended a seven–year relationship and was mentally drained…

If it weren’t for the fact that she needed a time–out and that she wasn’t ready for a new relationship….

If it weren’t for all these factors, he would have confessed his feelings to her long ago.

‘Ah, well, I’ve waited for seven years. What’s a few more days? At least she’s devoting all her energy to her career and not crying her eyes out for him,” Gideon thought forlornly.

Meanwhile, Jasper made a grand entrance at AeroMind’s party. His gigantic bouquet of sunflowers was making heads turn.

Tessa saw the sunflowers and instantly caught on to Jasper’s little stunt. She smiled and thanked him.

“Gosh, just seeing you here is enough. You shouldn’t have gone to such an expense,” she demurred.

‘You want to see magnanimity? You want to see flamboyance? Hah! Here it is!‘ Jasper thought as he marveled at Tessa’s display of aristocratic dignity.

“I’m here to show you my support, so I must pull out all the stops! Oh yes, this is for you!” he said as he handed over a gift box.

Inside was a diamond necklace that was worth a princely sum.

Although it might not be as pricey as the jewelry Tessa was decked out in right now, it was still a lavish gift.

“Thank you,” Tessa cooed.

“I passed by the hall where InquireMind’s event was being held. That place was totally empty! Aurelia’s event will become the laughingstock of the town!” Jasper could barely contain himself as he recounted what he saw with relish.

Tessa wasn’t surprised at all since she had been expecting this.

“She made such a scene at the summit and thought that she was going to make waves. But look at her now. All the hype has fizzled out,” Jasper continued breathlessly.

The grumpiness he felt earlier had vanished. He was eagerly looking forward to seeing the humiliation unfold.

Tessa gave a faint smile. “In the world of venture capital investment, failed projects are par for the course. Many people lack the technical expertise to bring their projects to fruition.”

“No doubt you’re the best, Tessa! I meant every word I said! If I could get into the Whitvale School of Management like you did, my dad would throw a month–long party in Ashmont to celebrate!” Jasper gushed shamelessly.

When it came to her own academic achievements, Tessa was practically glowing with pride. She proclaimed in a condescending tone, “Education starts everyone off on the same fundamentals, but the sky’s the limit where capability is concerned. Aurelia only obtained a local university degree. She’s still lacking when it comes to real ability.”
