Chapter 111Â
Jasper wasn’t about to give up. He whipped out his phone and texted Aurelia.Â
But the moment that exclamation mark popped up in the chat window, he was totally stunned.Â
Jasper had no clue when she’d blocked him.Â
Left with no other option, Jasper called Cassian for help. “Cassian, buddy, can you help me out?”Â
Cassian asked, “What’s up?”Â
Jasper said, “Can you reach out to Aurelia for me? I needed to talk business with her, but she blocked me. Can you ask her toÂ
take me off her blacklist?”Â
Cassian replied with a helpless sigh, “No can do, man. She blocked me, too.”Â
Jasper couldn’t believe his ears.Â
He blurted out, “She blocked you, too?”Â
Jasper thought, ‘Seriously? Aurelia was always Cassian’s ride–or–die. She’d do anything for him.Â
‘Even if the universe exploded, Aurelia would never block Cassian.Â
‘Seven years!Â
‘She’s been fawning over Cassian for seven years. Even if one tried to break them apart, they’d still be tied together somehow. How could she cut him off, like that?‘Â
Even when Aurelia quit her job, everyone figured she was just having a spat with Cassian.Â
Once she cooled off, they were sure she’d go right back to Cassian’s side, just like the good old days.Â
‘She’d be his most loyal dog again,‘ Jasper thought, still in disbelief.Â
Sure, Aurelia went off and started her own company, took on some projects…Â
Jasper figured Aurelia just wanted to show Cassian she could pull it off on her own, prove she was worth something.Â
Honestly, it was all just to get Cassian to notice her.Â
But now Cassian was saying he’d been blocked, too?Â
“She doesn’t even give a damn about you now?” Jasper blurted out.Â
Cassian’s voice was flat, giving nothing away. “Yeah.”Â
Jasper tried to cheer him up. “Hey, it’s fine. You’ve got Tessa, that’s all you need!”Â
Cassian just hung up on him.Â
Jasper stared at his phone, totally bewildered.Â
He wondered, ‘Was my attempt at cheering him up just lame? Why did Cassian sound so down?‘Â
But honestly, he had enough of his own mess to deal with. No way he had time to worry about Cassian’s feelings.Â
His biggest headache now was figuring out how to get Aurelia to talk to him again.Â
The next day, Jasper showed up at Regal Investment again.Â
No surprise. He got shut out at the door, just like before.Â
Third day in a row, same deal.Â
Before Jasper knew it, a whole week had slipped by. Jasper was about to crack. He dialed up another call.Â
This time, he hit up Liam.Â
Liam said, “It’s not that bad, man. Just keep at it. Eventually, she’ll come around. That’s what worked for me.”Â
“Man, I’ve tried so many times already! How long did it take you?” Jasper asked.Â
“About a week,” Liam replied.Â
“I’ve been trying for more than a week now, and she’s still totally ignoring me,” Jasper complained.Â
Liam thought for a second, then shrugged, “Well, good luck, man. You’re on your own.”Â
Jasper was helpless. His father had laid down the law, so all he could do was suck it up and get on with it.Â
So the next day, he showed up at Regal Investment again.Â
The receptionist barely batted an eye at him anymore. Before Jasper could even open his mouth, she cut him off. “Ms. Corin isn’t here.”Â
Jasper bit back what he was about to say and tried a different approach. “Any idea when she’ll be back?”Â
“No clue,” the receptionist said.Â
“Alright then,” Jasper replied.Â
‘Guess I’m striking out again,‘ Jasper thought, a little exasperated.Â
Just as he was heading out, he ran into Liam, who was also there to see Aurelia.Â
When Jasper realized Liam was here for Aurelia, he said casually, “Aurelia’s not here. Looks like you wasted your trip.”Â
Liam blinked, confused. “She asked me to come over.”Â
The receptionist spotted Liam and immediately came out to greet him. “Mr. Porter, Ms. Corin is waiting for you in her office. You can go right in.”Â
Jasper was just like, ‘Huh?”Â
‘Wait a sec, didn’t she just say Aurelia wasn’t here?‘ Jasper thought, totally thrown off.Â

With the year winding down, Aurelia was buried in work. She didn’t even have time to hang out with Ella.Â
While waiting for her flight during a business trip, Aurelia called Ella, reminding her to get her hospital follow–up done.Â
Ella told her she’d already gone for the check–up last week and was waiting for the results.Â
Aurelia blinked, a little caught off guard. “You went alone?”Â
“Nope. Cassian came with me,” Ella said.Â
Aurelia frowned, thinking, ‘What the hell is Cassian doing now?‘Â
She’d told him so many times already. Don’t go to bother her mom!Â
Aurelia figured she couldn’t keep hiding it from Ella anymore. She was going to tell her straight up that she and Cassian had split.Â
“Mom, actually, Cassian and I have already…” Aurelia began.Â
Just then, Tyson called out from beside her, “Aurelia, it’s time to board!”Â
‘Forget it, this isn’t something I can just sum up over the phone,‘ Aurelia thought.Â
Plus, she was about to board, and if she started but didn’t finish, it would only make Ella worry even more.Â
Anyway, with the holidays coming up soon, she’d wait and talk it all out with Ella then.Â
“It’s nothing, Mom. I’m about to board, so I gotta go. Take care of yourself,” Aurelia said quickly.Â
Aurelia quickly hung up.Â
This time, Aurelia and Tyson were in Northvale on a business trip to seal a deal with Eastview.Â
The signing went off without a hitch.Â
Nolan was all compliments for Aurelia. “Back when I first met you at Honoria Capital’s victory bash, I could tell you weren’t like the rest.”Â
When he mentioned it, Aurelia finally remembered.Â
She really had Cassian to thank for even getting on Nolan’s radar.Â
It was Cassian who made her stand out to Nolan.Â
Otherwise, back then, with no credentials, no connections, and just a three–million–dollar–level project under her belt, there’s no way she’d have gotten a seat at the table with Eastview.Â
On the way back, Tyson asked Aurelia what her plans were for the holidays.Â
“Just heading home to be with my mom,” Aurelia replied.Â
That was literally all she had planned for the holidays.Â
“Mila said she wants to hang out with you,” Tyson said.Â
“Sure, you guys are always welcome at my place!” Aurelia replied.Â
Tyson was barely containing his excitement, though on the outside he managed to look pretty chill.Â
Honestly, Mila hadn’t actually said she wanted to hang out.Â
He was the one who really wanted to see Aurelia.Â
The New Year was hands down the biggest deal of the year for anyone from around here.Â
Aurelia was up at the crack of dawn, all fired up to help Ella out in the kitchen.Â
But the more she tried, the more chaos she caused. Ella finally had enough and booted her out.Â
Honestly, cooking was just not her thing. She was totally useless when it came to anything culinary.Â
Back when Aurelia was a kid, Ella used to shake her head and sigh. “How are you ever gonna get married if you can’t even make a meal?”Â
Aurelia just shrugged it off. “Easy, I’ll marry a guy who can cook.”Â
But somewhere along the line, she totally forgot about her standards for a future husband.Â
Those days, she figured she didn’t need a man at all.Â
Men? All they did was mess with her hustle to make money.Â
“Mom, there’s something I want to talk to you about,” Aurelia said, munching on an apple as she leaned against the kitchen doorway, calling out to Ella, who was busy in the kitchen.Â
Ella didn’t even look up from her soup. “Just say it.”Â
Aurelia began, “It’s about me and Cassian…Â
But before she could get the words out, someone started knocking at the door.Â
Aurelia sighed and went to get the door.Â
“Aurelia! Happy New Year!” Mila called out, bursting in with a big smile and her arms loaded with New Year’s goodies.Â
She bounced in cheerfully, carrying a bunch of festive treats.Â
Tyson came in right after her, his hands also full of gifts.Â
“Happy New Year!” Tyson chimed in.Â
“Come on in, please!” Aurelia ushered them inside. Wow, you guys are here so early. Did you already have your New Year’s Eve dinner?”Â
Mila said. “It’s all Tyson’s fault. He kept pushing for an early dinner, so our family ended up eating way carlier than usual this year!”Â
Aurelia looked confused. “Why did he want to cat so early?”Â

Just as Mila was about to say something, Tyson quickly covered her mouth. “Don’t listen to her. We always have dinner atÂ
that time.”Â
Mila shot Tyson a glare, annoyed that her brother was putting a girl before his sister.Â
