Yesterday was one of those special days. People couldn’t help but let their imaginations run wild. 

Murel could only give an awkward smile. “Ms. Corin has been waiting for you for quite a while.”

Tessa finally shot Aurelia a reluctant glance, but didn’t bother with an apology. She fired up her laptop. “Let’s get started.” 

Murel said, “Let me introduce you…” 

“No need, we already know each other,” Tessa cut him off. “Aurelia used to be with Honoria Capital, so we’re pretty familiar.” 

With Tessa putting it like that, Murel didn’t dare say anything more. 

But then Tessa switched gears. “I looked into Ascend Group’s partnership requirements last night. A small company like Regal Investment has never worked with us before and doesn’t even qualify. So, Ms. Corin, what kind of magic did you pull to get Mr. Locke to agree to partner with Evergreen?” 

Murel sucked in a sharp breath. 

He thought, ‘Is this really happening? It feels like the main wife is grilling the side chick. 

‘If I’d known it was going to be this much of a catfight, I would’ve faked sickness and stayed home!’ 

Aurelia came in ready to keep it strictly business. She was all about keeping work and personal stuff separate. 

But since Tessa wasn’t playing by the rules, Aurelia didn’t see any reason to go easy on her. 

So Aurelia snapped her laptop shut and turned to Murel, who was sweating bullets. “Could you tell Mr. Locke for me? He’s the one who suggested this partnership, and he’s the one who signed the contract with me. If you guys have a problem now, Mr. Locke should stick to the contract and pay whatever compensation is due.” 

Aurelia’s reaction totally caught Tessa off guard. 

In Tessa’s eyes, Regal Investment was the one begging Ascend Group for a partnership. 

They were never on equal footing. 

Tessa figured she could say whatever she wanted, toss out some snarky comments, and Aurelia would have to put up with it. 

But she never expected Aurelia to push back this hard. 

Still, Tessa refused to back down. “You ought to think twice, Ms. Corin. Ascend Group has the top computing chips in the country. If InquireMind wants to go anywhere, you need our chips. In business, acting on impulse is the last thing you should do. Surely you understand that much, right?” 

That wasn’t just snark anymore. Tessa was straight–up threatening her now. 

Aurelia shot back with a smirk, “Honestly, it seems like you’re the one getting all worked up here. What are you so anxious about? What’s got you so worried?” 

With that, Aurelia flipped the script, leaving Tessa, who was already feeling guilty, completely speechless. 

“Mr. Abbott, make sure you tell Mr. Locke exactly what I said, word for word. Thanks,” Aurelia said, her tone leaving no room for argument. 

With that, she strode out without missing a beat, not even bothering to look back.

Chapter 115 

Tessa was totally blindsided. 

In her mind. Aurelia should’ve been the one groveling, coming to her for help. 

Murel gave Tessa an uneasy look. 

Tessa shut her laptop and said, “Just pass on her exact words.” 

She was pretty sure Cassian wouldn’t hold it against her. 

Cassian didn’t say a word of blame. 

“Cassian, you handed this over to me, so trust me to take care of it,” Tessa declared confidently. 

“Alright,” Cassian agreed. 

With his support, a confident smile played on Tessa’s lips. 

Karlie asked her how she planned to handle the situation. 

Tessa smirked, totally unfazed. “Just wait and see. Aurelia will come begging me.” 

Tessa thought, ‘When that day comes, I’ll make sure to put her in her place hard. She’ll finally see where she really stands and learn not to get ahead of herself. 

Just because she pulled off InquireMind, she thinks she can walk all over me now? 

“Thinks she’s all that now?‘ 

Karlie grinned, full of herself. “Exactly! Who does she think she is? She can’t hold a candle to you. Just look at Cassian. He’s always on your side.” 

That definitely made Tessa feel good. 

Even if Aurelia made a name for herself with InquireMind, Cassian still wouldn’t give her the time of day. 

“Just wait and see. Within three days, she’ll come begging,” Tessa said, certain of herself. 

Karlie grinned. “No way I’m missing the drama!” 

“By the way, I’ve got dinner plans with Liam tonight. Freshen up. You’re coming with us,” Tessa said, clearly in high spirits. 

Karlie’s eyes lit up. “Sounds good!” 

“Dress up and look sharp. Don’t make me look bad,” Tessa added. 

“Will do!” Karlie chirped. 

Tessa had picked Lunar Table for dinner. It was the restaurant Jasper co–owned. 

Jasper was there, too, and after they’d settled in and waited a bit, Liam still hadn’t shown up. 

“Jasper, give him a call and see what’s up,” Tessa urged. 

Jasper hung up and said, “He’s got some last–minute business to handle, so he can’t make it. He told us to go ahead and eat without him.” 

“Why does he always bail on us?” Karlie had been hyped for this all day. When she heard Liam wasn’t coming, her 

excitement crashed. 

Chapter 115 

Tessa tried to comfort her. “Don’t worry about it. We’ll catch him next time.”

Karlie thought to herself, they’d tried to get together so many times, and every single time, Liam flaked at the last minute. 

Who knew when they’d actually get to hang out? 

As they walked out after dinner, they caught sight of Aurelia and Liam having dinner together by the window. 

The two were laughing and chatting, looking just like a couple out on a date. 

Tessa stopped dead in her tracks. 

‘Seriously? This is his “last–minute business“? Did he really blow me off for Aurelia?‘ Tessa thought, her jaw clenching. 

Tessa’s face darkened instantly. 

Karlie looked pissed off, too. 

Liam was the guy Karlie’d been after, and now Aurelia was straight–up trying to snatch him away. 

Karlie tugged at Tessa’s sleeve, frustrated. “Tessa…” 

“Cut it out. Let’s go,” Tessa said, way calmer than Karlie. 

Tessa didn’t think much of Aurelia, but with Liam and Jasper there, she didn’t want them to think less of her, so she just took Karlie with her and left. 

She didn’t let Karlie make a fuss. 

Truth was, Liam had only come to meet Aurelia for some work stuff. 

InquireMind needed fresh data, so Liam swung by to hand it over in person. 

Since they still had business to go over, and it happened to be dinner time, they just ate and talked at the same time. 

Liam had actually booked the restaurant himself. He wanted to throw some support Jasper’s way, so he picked Lunar Table on purpose. 

After dinner, they went their separate ways. 

Meanwhile, Jasper went over to greet Liam. 

“Why does Aurelia act like she’s got two totally different attitudes toward you and me?” Jasper complained, frustrated that he still hadn’t gotten a chance to talk business with Aurelia. 

“Why don’t you put in a good word for me?” Jasper begged. 

‘If I can’t fix this, I’m really getting sent abroad, thought Jasper. 

Liam shut him down immediately. “If I help you, I’ll probably end up on her blacklist, too. You know your rep with her 

sucks.” 

Jasper thought, ‘The more I shot my mouth off back then, the more I regret it now.’ 

Tomorrow was his dad’s final ultimatum, and Jasper could only look up at the ceiling, feeling utterly hopeless. He could already imagine himself living a tragic expat life, broken, miserable, and down on his luck. 

The next day, Jasper still dragged himself over to Regal Investment.

Chapter 115 

This time, he didn’t even bother hoping for anything. 

He looked totally out of it, just slouching around. 

Jasper’d been coming by so often lately that the receptionist knew him well. Every time she saw him, it was the same old line: “Ms. Corin isn’t here.”

This time, as soon as she started to speak, Jasper beat her to it, copying her tone: “Ms. Corin isn’t here, right? Fine. I’m gone 

The receptionist looked surprised for a second. “Nope. Ms. Corin said that you can go in.” 

Jasper almost stumbled. “Wait, what?” 

Yeah, Ms. Corin said you can go in,” the receptionist repeated. 

Jasper was so hyped he could barely stand still. ‘Guess all that effort wasn’t for nothing. I’m finally getting to see Aurelia! he thought. 

Jasper hadn’t even made it to Aurelia’s office yet, but he was already blowing up his dad’s phone with a voice message, barely able to contain himself. “Dad! Cancel my ticket! I finally got to see Aurelia! I’m about to pitch her for a deal. Wish me luck!” 

He knocked on Aurelia’s office door, and only after she called out for him to come in did he finally step inside. 

For once, he was actually polite and a little nervous as he greeted her, “Ms. Corin 

It was like a student facing the principal, awkward and on his best behavior. 

Aurelia was buried in her computer, not even glancing up. She just pointed at the papers on her desk and said, “That’s for you.” 

‘What’s this for?‘ Jasper wondered, caught off guard. 

‘Is this… a contract?‘ His heart skipped a beat. 

‘Already prepared? I wasn’t ready for this at all!‘ He was stunned.
