Chapter 116Â
“Aurelia. I’m sorry. I was wrong before, and I want to apologize. Can you be nice and not hold a grudge? Don’t stoop to my level,” Jasper said.Â
It looked like Jasper’s conscience finally kicked in, and for the first time, he was actually apologizing to Aurelia.Â
And he apologized sincerely to Aurelia from the bottom of his heart.Â
But when Aurelia heard his apology, her reaction was kind of odd.Â
She reminded him, “Why don’t you read it first before you say anything?”Â
Only then did Jasper look down at the papers Aurelia had handed him..Â
The bold words at the top made Jasper freeze, completely caught off guard.Â
‘Legal notice? Why the hell is this a legal notice?‘ Jasper thought, his mind going blank.Â
Aurelia said, “Since you’re already here, I might as well handle this now. Saves us both the hassle.”Â
Jasper was at a total loss for words.Â
‘Is she even speaking my language right now? I’m here to talk business, not get slapped with a lawsuit,‘ he thought.Â
“I’ve got a meeting to attend, so I won’t see you out,” Aurelia said, picking up her laptop and heading straight for the conference room.Â
Jasper was left feeling utterly defeated and pissed off.Â
No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t figure out why Aurelia had to be so damn ruthless.Â
Still feeling totally frustrated, Jasper headed straight over to Honoria Capital to vent to Cassian.Â
“Cassian, seriously, how can Aurelia be so cold? We’ve known each other for ages, and you two dated for seven years! How could she be so ruthless and slap me with a legal notice?” Jasper complained, sounding genuinely aggrieved.Â
“Isn’t she a bit much? Aren’t you going to step in or say something?” he added.Â
Cassian, who rarely sighs, actually let out a long breath and pushed a thick stack of documents across the desk. “She doesn’t play favorites. I got a legal notice, too.”Â
Jasper was at a total loss for words.Â
While he was still reeling, Tessa walked in. “Cassian, you wanted to see me?”Â
Cassian nodded. “Here, this is for you.”Â
He pulled a document out of the stack he’d just given to Gideon and handed it to Tessa.Â
Tessa picked it up, frowning. “A legal notice?”Â
“You got one, too?” Jasper blurted out.Â
“Wait, did Aurelia send you one as well? Is she sending these out wholesale now?” he added, his disbelief growing.Â
Tessa never expected Aurelia to actually hit her with a legal notice.Â

Chapter 116Â
She skimmed through it and realized AeroMind got slapped with accusations of stealing Inquire Mind’s trade secrets and snatching their tech, so that was why Aurelia sent the legal notice.Â
Jasper was dragged into it, too, since he was one of AeroMind’s investors.Â
Stealing trade secrets is no joke. Admit to that, and one’s basically done for in the business world.Â
So Tessa immediately shot back, “She’s framing me!”Â
Cassian said, “I had someone look into it. She’s got airtight evidence.”Â
After a pause, Cassian glanced at Tessa. “Didn’t you headhunt a bunch of engineers from InquireMind for AeroMind?”Â
“Yeah, I did…” Tessa admitted.Â
“InquireMind did a technical review and found AeroMind infringed on more than forty tech points. Over ninety percent of confidential stuff is basically the same or super similar, which is a serious violation. That’s why they sent the legal notice, asking for full payback on R&D and three times the project’s profits as damages,” Cassian explained.Â
Jasper, looking nervous, asked, “So, how much are we talking about?”Â
Cassian let out another sigh. “With InquireMind’s current market value, triple damages would be at least 300 million dollars, and that’s just for now. That number’s only going to get higher as time goes on.”Â
After he finished, the whole office went dead silent.Â
‘Am I about to get disowned tonight?‘ Jasper thought, feeling a cold sweat break out.Â
”Â
“And Ascend Group got slapped with a legal notice, too. Back when we signed the deal, all the terms were in Regal Investment’s favor. Since we broke the contract first, we’re on the hook for whatever the contract says,” Cassian added.Â
“How much is that going to cost us?” Jasper asked, his voice shaky.Â
“At least 300 million dollars,” Cassian replied.Â
Jasper slumped back into his chair, feeling completely defeated.Â
‘600 million dollars, just from lawsuits? Damn, Aurelia’s really cashing in with all this… Jasper thought, his head spinning.Â
Tessa’s face went pale. “So, what do we do now?”Â
Cassian thought for a moment. “I’ll handle Ascend Group myself and talk to Aurelia. Since it hasn’t gone public yet, there’s still plenty of room to negotiate.”Â
He paused, his brow furrowing. “As for AeroMind, let’s see if we can settle this out of court. If this case goes to trial, a lot of people could end up behind bars.”Â

On Monday, Aurelia headed over to Tyson’s studio for a work chat and unexpectedly bumped into Tessa at the entrance.Â
Tessa saw her, too, her face going blank before she quickly turned away.Â
Miranda leaned in and whispered to Aurelia, “What’s she doing here?”Â
“Maybe she’s here to see Tyson,” Aurelia guessed.Â
It turned out that she was right.Â

Tyson said Tessa had tried every trick in the book to get in touch with him, wanting to hash out the whole AeroMind lawsuit.Â
But Tyson shut her down and told her to take it up with Aurelia directly.Â
Tessa was too proud to reach out to Aurelia herself.Â
So Aurelia never heard a word from her.Â
Tyson asked Aurelia how she wanted to handle the situation.Â
“Going to court is always the last resort. After all, it takes time and effort. If we can talk it out, that’s the way to go. But honestly, she’s not even on my level to talk business with me,” Aurelia replied.Â
“So you want Cassian to be the one to talk to you?” Tyson asked. “Do you really think he’ll step in?”Â
Aurelia’s expression stayed cool. “It’s all about how much Tessa matters to him.”Â
Aurelia thought, ‘Cassian cares so much about Tessa. Putting his pride aside for her is only natural.Â
‘Honestly, I should probably thank Tessa for that.Â
‘If Cassian hadn’t paved the way for Tessa, she never would’ve qualified to partner with Honoria Capital.’Â
And when they signed the contract, every single term was stacked in Regal Investment and InquireMind’s favor.Â
That was exactly why Aurelia was confident enough to slap Cassian with a legal notice.Â
“Just do whatever you think is best. I’m not good at this kind of thing,” Tyson said, as usual, totally backing Aurelia up.Â
Aurelia and Tyson chatted for over an hour. When they finally headed downstairs, Tessa was still there.Â
‘She’s got some patience, Aurelia thought.Â
While Miranda was off getting the car, Cassian pulled up to pick up Tessa.Â
He personally got out and opened the door for Tessa, being all sweet and considerate.Â
Aurelia watched it all go down, thinking to herself, ‘Bet Cassian’s gonna come find me real soon.’Â
Cassian reached out even sooner than Aurelia had expected.Â
That evening, just as she walked through the door, her phone lit up with a call from Cassian.Â
Aurelia didn’t even bother to pick up.Â
She had zero intention of answering.Â
She was off the clock.Â
‘Who even answers work calls after hours? Not like I’m that idiot I used to be, Aurelia thought.Â
She tossed her phone onto the couch and headed straight for the bathroom.Â
When she finally got out of the shower, her phone was blowing up, six missed calls and three messages.Â
She didn’t bother replying to any of them. She switched her phone off and crashed for the night, totally at peace.Â
Aurelia barely stepped into Regal Investment the next morning before she saw Cassian already there.Â

She thought she was the early bird, but Cassian was already waiting for her.Â
He wasn’t driving the car he’d used to pick up Tessa yesterday. He was back in that old silver–roofed Maybach he used to drive.Â
Aurelia didn’t spare Cassian a glance. She just walked right in without missing a beat.Â

Cassian hustled after her, trailing her all the way to Regal Investment. Seeing Aurelia still completely ignoring him, he had no choice but to speak up. “Let’s talk.”Â
“Sure,” Aurelia said, cool as ever.Â
Before Cassian could say anything, Aurelia reminded him coolly, “Make sure you schedule it through my secretary.”Â
“Right away,” Cassian agreed without missing a beat.Â
“Can you check my schedule, Miranda?” Aurelia asked.Â
Miranda glanced at the calendar. “You’re fully booked for the next week.”Â
Aurelia said calmly to Cassian, “Then, please come back in a week, Mr. Locke.”Â
