After Cassian left, Miranda couldn’t help but gossip with Aurelia. “I’ve never seen Mr. Locke get shut down like that before. Man, that was epic!” 

Back in the day, Cassian used to give Miranda a hard time all the time. 

Seeing Aurelia turn the tables on him now made Miranda feel totally refreshed. 

After basking in the moment, Miranda couldn’t help but ask Aurelia, “Do you think Mr. Locke will actually behave himself and wait a whole week before coming back?” 

“No way,” Aurelia replied, not even looking up from her paperwork. 

“Seriously? How do you know?” Miranda asked. 

“I’ve known him for seven years now. I know exactly how he ticks,” Aurelia said. 

Miranda nodded. “Fair enough.” 

Just like Aurelia predicted, Cassian showed up that very afternoon. 

Aurelia had an afternoon appointment with Breon Youngkin from NaviTech. 

When Breon suddenly changed the meeting location, Aurelia immediately sensed something was off. 

When she arrived at the private room Breon had chosen, she wasn’t surprised to see Cassian already there. 

Breon grinned, “Mr. Locke and I had some things to go over, and since you two already know each other, I thought we could all meet up. You don’t mind, do you, Ms. Corin?” 

Even if Aurelia did have a problem with it, she’d just have to suck it up and say she was cool with it. 

Cassian really knew what he was doing picking Breon as his go–between. 

Breon was a real talker. He broke it all down for Aurelia in just a few sentences. 

Honestly, Aurelia wasn’t looking to get into it with Honoria Capital. 

After all, Ascend Group was a real powerhouse in the industry. 

If she couldn’t work with Ascend Group, she’d have to go find another chip supplier for support. 

Running in circles like that would just waste her time. 

In the business world, sometimes one gotta lay low and level up quietly. 

That was one of the golden rules Cassian had taught her, and Aurelia had never forgotten it. 

So, she went along with Breon’s pitch, but she made her own demands. 

First, the person in charge at AeroMind had to make a public apology. 

Second, they needed to compensate InquireMind for the development losses. 

And third, AeroMind had to be delisted. 

With every demand Aurelia made, Breon sucked in a sharp breath.

But Cassian, the one directly involved, remained perfectly calm. 

He waited patiently until Aurelia finished stating her demands, then asked, “Anything else?” 

Aurelia replied, “That’s all I can think of for now, but I reserve the right to add more later.” 

Cassian couldn’t help but laugh at that. 

No one could tell if he was genuinely amused or just laughing out of sheer frustration. 

But in the end, he simply said he’d talk it over and get back to her. 

Before the meal was even over, Cassian’s phone started ringing. 

It was sitting right there on the table, and both Aurelia and Breon instinctively glanced over. 

It was Tessa calling.

Breon couldn’t help but tease, “Looks like you two are still crazy in love, huh? Back when my wife and I were newly in love, she’d call me every time I went out for drinks, nagging me to come home. Now? I could stay out all night, and she wouldn’t even bother to check in.” 

Breon sounded a little envious as he added, “Man, being crazy in love is the best, so much passion and romance.” 

Cassian just smiled it off, not bothered by Breon’s teasing. 

Cassian turned away to take the call, shielding his mouth with his hand, and his voice was noticeably gentler than before. 

He said, “I’m almost done here. 

“Is it raining? No worries, Wesley will come and pick me up. 

“Really? I’ll hurry then.” 

After ending the call, Cassian turned to Breon. “She’s waiting for me outside. We’ve pretty much talked everything through, so let’s wrap it up for today?” 

“Yeah, it’s not right to make a lady wait too long,” Breon said, sounding all gentlemanly. “What do you think, Ms. Corin?” 

Aurelia smiled lightly. “As long as Mr. Locke’s fine with it, I’m good.” 

Cassian curled his lips, but his eyes held a depth that was hard to read. 

Breon, clueless about the undercurrents between them, kept joking around. “Mr. Locke’s got it bad. He can’t stand making his sweetheart wait. Isn’t that obvious?” 

Cassian smiled. “Yeah, I just hate making her wait too long.” 

For a moment, Aurelia’s thoughts stalled, caught off guard by his words. 

Once the meal was over, they headed out together, exchanging farewells as they went. 

Aurelia barely said a word, keeping her head down as she texted Miranda to tell her dinner was over, and to pull up the car. 

Outside, the cold wind was raging. 

With that early spring cold snap, the rain felt even chillier than a winter storm. 

Tessa was waiting outside the car for Cassian.

She could’ve easily waited inside, but instead she stood in the most obvious spot, making sure Aurelia saw her, sending a clear message. 

Or maybe she was just staking her claim. 

Tessa wanted Aurelia to see that, even if things went south, Cassian would still stand by her side, backing her up without 

hesitation. 

So Tessa shot Aurelia a cold, arrogant glance, then turned to Cassian with a triumphant, possessive smile, calling out to him in that familiar way, “Cassian.” 

Cassian asked, “Why didn’t you wait in the car?” 

“I just wanted to see you as soon as possible,” Tessa replied, her voice laced with playful affection. 

She shamelessly flaunted her affection for him right in front of everyone. 

“Alright. I won’t disturb you two having your private time together. My ride’s here. See you later, Mr. Locke, Ms. Corin, Ms. Rowe,” Breon said, tossing in one last teasing remark before hopping into his car. 

Once Breon was gone, Cassian got into Tessa’s car. “See you, Ms. Corin.” 

Aurelia gave the slightest nod, barely acknowledging him. 

If she could, she wouldn’t even bother with that much. 

The two cars pulled away one after another, leaving the entrance deserted. 

Only Aurelia remained, standing there as a cold night breeze swept past, biting deep into her bones. 

She pulled her cashmere coat tighter around herself, but the chill still seeped right through. 

‘He can’t stand making her wait,‘ Aurelia thought, those words looping in her head, 

If she hadn’t seen it and heard it for herself, she’d never believe Cassian could actually say something like that. 

Back when she was his secretary, waiting was basically her whole job. 

Whenever Cassian had a roundtable meeting, she’d be outside, just waiting. 

If he were at a dinner or some business event, she’d be stuck at the door, waiting for him. 

Situations like that? Way too many to count. 

How many times had she waited for him, how long, how endless those waits felt… 

She honestly lost track. 

What Aurelia remembered most was back when she was just learning to walk in heels. She’d be stuck standing for hours at a time. 

Every time she finally got home, her legs felt like they were about to snap off. 

But Aurelia never once let Cassian see how much she was hurting. 

Maybe it’s true. If one doesn’t make a fuss, one never gets what one wants. 

At least now, Aurelia was done waiting for anyone. That part of her life was finally over.

Aurelia had no clue how Cassian managed to handle Tessa last night. 

But bright and early the next morning, he got back to her, saying he was good with all three of her conditions. 

‘He must’ve really worked some magic on her last night, Aurelia thought, a little amused. 

Either way, everything wrapped up perfectly. Everyone was celebrating. 

Regal Investment ended up getting the biggest slice of the pie out of this whole mess. 

Aurelia was more than satisfied. 

The news that AeroMind was getting delisted spread like wildfire through the AI community. People were buzzing, and the rumor mill was in overdrive. 

The once–mighty AeroMind was going out with a whimper. 

It was just like that victory party Tessa threw for AeroMind back in the day. Now, seeing it all end like that, one couldn’t help but sigh at the irony. 

Even Miranda couldn’t help but sigh. “Tessa’s first big project after taking over just crashed and burned like that. How’s she supposed to show her face in the business world now? Aurelia, do you think she’ll quit the game?” 

Aurelia shook her head. “With Cassian around, she’s not going anywhere. Cassian’ll make sure she stays in the game, no matter what.” 

“But how’s Mr. Locke supposed to keep her standing after this?” Miranda asked, genuinely curious.
