Benjamin, who usually steered clear of drama, suddenly spoke up, “She’s not my son’s girlfriend.” 

The atmosphere turned awkward. 

“Uh… Mr. Locke’s girlfriend is over there,” the guy quickly said, pointing off in another direction. 

Aurelia followed the direction and saw Tessa in the middle of a crowd. 

Funny enough, Tessa was wearing the same color dress as Aurelia, which was black. 

But their figures were a bit different, and they wore different jewelry. 

Tessa had her hair in loose curls, and her makeup was bright and eye–catching. 

She was decked out in a full set of diamond jewelry that sparkled under the lights. 

It was obvious those diamonds were worth a fortune. 

Aurelia had her hair pulled back in a slicked–back, face–revealing style, a look that only works for people with killer features. 

But with her flawless bone structure, that bold style made her look even more stunning. 

And with that set of top–tier Kashmir sapphire jewelry, her aura was off the charts–she instantly commanded the room and became the center of attention. 

Before Aurelia showed up, all eyes had been on Tessa. 

Once people found out she was Cassian’s girlfriend, they all came over to butter her up, giving her a serious ego boost. 

She’d gone all out for this party. 

She picked out the priciest dress from Vanvelle Studio, wore the most luxurious jewelry, and went all out with her glam. 

But all that effort was completely overshadowed the moment Aurelia walked in. 

All that bling was nothing next to the single gem on Aurelia’s necklace. 

If she didn’t have to keep up appearances, she would’ve ripped it off right then and there. 

The crowd that had been showering Tessa with compliments was now all focused on Aurelia. 

“Damn, that girl is gorgeous. Who is she?” someone whispered. 

“Did you see her jewelry? Those sapphires are insanely rare; just one is worth a fortune, and she’s wearing a whole set! That’s definitely collector’s level! I need to see it up close,” another person said.

“Me too, me too!” someone else chimed in. 

In no time, half the crowd had drifted away, and Tessa’s face turned icy cold. 

Karlie was even more pissed. “Why does Aurelia keep popping up everywhere like a bad penny? Tessa, didn’t you say this party was strictly invite–only? No invitation, no way in. So how did Aurelia manage to get inside?” 

Tessa wasn’t lying. 

If it weren’t for Cassian, she wouldn’t have been able to get into a party like this. 

And as for Aurelia, if it weren’t for Benjamin, she wouldn’t have been able to get in either. 

That was the thing Tessa just couldn’t get over. The part that made her the most jealous. 

‘Why is Benjamin so nice to Aurelia?‘ Tessa wondered, jealousy gnawing at her. 

Karlie had no idea who Benjamin was. Seeing Aurelia holding onto his arm, she spat out, “She must be cozying up to that old man! Seriously, has she no shame? And he’s even got a limp! She really has no standards, does she? She’ll go for anyone!” 

“Don’t say that,” Tessa cut her off, her gaze turning cold. “That’s Cassian’s dad.” 

Karlie was stunned into silence. 

She continued to complain, “Didn’t Cassian say his dad doesn’t like meeting outsiders, not even you? So how come Aurelia gets a pass? He even brought her to this party…” 

With every word Karlie said, Tessa’s expression grew icier. 

“That’s enough! Stop talking about her, I don’t want to hear it,” Tessa cut her off, turning and stalking away. 

Karlie hurried after her. 

Meanwhile, Aurelia kept Benjamin company while he mingled for a bit. 

But after a while, Benjamin told her to go around, make friends, and get something to eat. There was no need to stay glued to his side, it seems. 

“Alright, just let me know if you need anything,” Aurelia said. 

She’d been running around nonstop since she landed. First, she got her hair and makeup done, then she picked Benjamin up. She hadn’t even had time to eat dinner. 

Now that she was finally free, her stomach was growling, so she grabbed a plate of food and found a quiet spot 

to eat. 

While she was mingling with Benjamin, she took notice of someone and went out of her way to get his contact info. 

It was Gilbert Kim from Delcon Group.

If she managed to win the bid for the port renovation project, she might end up working with Delcon Group 

in the future. 

That’s why she got Gilbert’s contact info ahead of time–just to be prepared. 

At a party this fancy, even the snacks here taste better than anywhere else. 

Aurelia filled up on a few treats, and just as she was about to head back to find Benjamin, someone showed up 

next to her. 

If she hadn’t heard her name, she probably would’ve just walked away. 

But of course, she ended up overhearing them talking trash about her. 

Tessa had planned to network and make some new connections, but with everyone gossiping about Aurelia, she totally lost interest and just wanted to get away and chill for a bit. 

At least Karlie was there to keep her company. 

Karlie tried to cheer her up. “Tessa, don’t let that bitch Aurelia mess with your vibe. Like you said, she won’t be riding high for long. She’s not even worth stressing over!” 

She continued, “And hey, you’ve got Cassian! He treats you like royalty. Dresses, jewelry, you get to pick whatever you want, and that unlimited black card? You can go wild with it! I’ve never spent that much money in my life, you know. It was honestly the best feeling ever!” 

Maybe Karlie’s pep talk actually worked, because Tessa’s mood did seem to lift a bit. She even said, “I bought a ton of jewelry today. If you see anything you like, feel free to pick whatever you want.” 

“Then I won’t be shy! Cassian will just spoil you with more anyway!” Karlie was grinning from ear to ear. “Seriously, cheer up! You look drop–dead gorgeous tonight. When Cassian comes to pick you up, he won’t be able to take his eyes off you!” 

Just hearing Cassian’s name put Tessa in a great mood. She couldn’t help but smile. “Cassian should be landing soon.” 

She’d barely finished speaking when her phone started ringing. 

Karlie glanced at the caller ID and joked, “Wow, speak of the devil! Cassian really can’t go a minute without checking in on you, huh? Should I leave you two lovebirds alone?” 

“Ugh, you’re so annoying,” Tessa laughed. 

Karlie was smart enough to take the hint and actually left them alone. 

But she hadn’t even taken two steps before she suddenly tripped over something and went down hard, face- first. 

The commotion was enough to make people turn and stare. 

Trying to maintain her image, she quickly got up and pretended nothing had happened.

That was when Aurelia sauntered out from behind the greenery, looking cool as a cucumber. 

Her expression instantly shifted the moment she spotted Aurelia. 

Suddenly, as if she put two and two together, she yelled, “Aurelia! Was that you just now?” 

Not a trace of guilt, just pure swagger as Aurelia arched an eyebrow. “Yeah, it’s me. So what?” 

“That’s it, Aurelia! You asked for it!” Karlie was blazing with rage, storming toward Aurelia, ready to throw down. 

But Tessa quickly grabbed her, stopping her in her tracks. 

“Karlie, chill out!” Tessa hissed, trying to keep things from getting out of hand. 

Karlie’s wipeout had already drawn a crowd. Now, all eyes were glued to them. 

Everyone knew Karlie was Tessa’s plus–one. If she started throwing punches, Tessa’s reputation would take a nosedive. 

Everyone at this party was someone important. They were all big names and part of a higher society. 

If Tessa made a scene, people would talk, and it wouldn’t just mess up her own reputation or her future in these circles–Cassian’s name would get dragged through the mud too. 

So all she could do was try to calm Karlie down. 

On the other hand, Aurelia knew exactly how much Tessa cared about her image, which was why she didn’t hold back at all.
