Aurelia and Cassian waited downstairs for a bit until Tyson showed up, then the three of them headed inside together. It was the peak hour for clocking in, and the elevator lobby was packed. 

They figured they’d have to wait in line. But they had plenty of time, so the three of them just joined the queue like everyone else. 

After about five minutes in line, the people behind them suddenly stepped aside, clearing a path. The woman in front of Aurelia tugged her to the side. “Move over, don’t block the way. The boss’s wife is coming!” 

Tyson couldn’t help but think, ‘Damn, talk about making an entrance. The entire building belonged to Honoria Capital. Hence, they were all employees of Honoria Capital.

Just as he was about to put it together, Tyson saw Tessa coming over. She walked through with her secretary and assistant, the crowd stepping aside to let them pass. 

She walked straight to the executive elevator, scanned her fingerprint, and only then glanced over at Aurelia and Tyson waiting by the regular elevator, a faint smile playing on her lips. “If you two don’t mind, you can come up with me in the executive elevator,” Tessa said. 

But it didn’t sound like an invitation, more like she was showing off. Tyson was about to refuse, but Aurelia jumped in first. “Thanks, Ms. Rowe.”

Aurelia stepped into the elevator without a second thought, and Tyson quickly followed her in. Meanwhile, Miranda looked unimpressed and claimed she’d left something in her car, saying she’d catch up later on her

Aurelia finally looked up from her phone, her eyes landing on the gold–embossed invite Tessa was offering.

Tyson couldn’t help but think, ‘She didn’t just accept an invitation. She just picked up a challenge!” 

“Oh, and you too, Mr. Morris. The more, the merrier,” Tessa said, pulling out another invitation and handing it to Tyson. As she did, a small, fancy square package slipped out with the invitation and, of all places, landed right in front of Aurelia. 

It was a condom. Tessa didn’t even blink. She just bent down, picked it up, and put it back in her bag like it was nothing. Everything looked totally legit on the surface, but one could tell she was a little too deliberate about it. 

Aurelia couldn’t help but wonder if Tessa’s bag was packed full of invites. She’d probably hand them out to random strangers if she got the chance. She was clearly dying to let everyone know she and Cassian were about to get engaged. 

‘Did she even check the calendar?‘ Aurelia thought to herself. ‘April Fool’s Day? For an engagement party? You’ve got to be kidding me.’

Aurelia had just arrived in the conference room when Liam showed up as well. Porter Motors, Liam’s company, was one of Honoria Capital’s partners. Their autonomous vehicles depended on Honoria Capital’s cutting–edge chips. 

Liam’s seat was originally on the other side, but as soon as he saw Aurelia, he went out of his way to move over and sit right next to her. 

When Cassian and Tessa walked in, Aurelia and Liam were invested in their project talk. They didn’t even look up. Seeing Liam and Aurelia chatting away, one could practically see Tessa’s mood drop. Her eyes went cold for a second. 

Tessa had been trying to play matchmaker between Liam and Karlie for a while, always looking for an opening. But Liam always had some excuse ready. He never even gave her a chance. 

But at that moment, he grinned and chatted with Aurelia as if they were best buddies. He didn’t even notice when Tessa and Cassian walked in. They were so wrapped up in their conversation. 

‘Is Liam actually into Aurelia?‘ Tessa wondered, a flicker of doubt crossing her mind. ‘No way, that’s impossible!‘ she convinced herself. In her eyes, Aurelia might be pretty and capable, but there was no way Liam would actually fall for her. 

‘I’m just overthinking it. Didn’t Jasper say Liam already has a girl he’s into?‘ Tessa reminded herself, trying to stay calm. ‘It’s just business between him and Aurelia. Nothing personal!‘ Tessa knew there was no way someone like Aurelia could actually catch the attention of a guy as impressive as Liam. 

The meeting kicked off at ten, with Tessa taking the lead and running the whole show. Aurelia couldn’t help but feel a bit puzzled. She noticed Murel was nowhere to be seen.

Normally, for a meeting of such importance, Murel should act as the head of Honoria Capital. But everyone in the room looked totally unfazed, like they were used to Tessa being the one in charge at Honoria Capital. 

Aurelia had been so caught up in her own stuff lately that she hadn’t really paid much attention to what was going on at Honoria Capital. 

She’d heard Tyson mention before that Cassian had given control of Honoria Capital to Tessa. 

Aurelia always thought Cassian was saying that to keep his beloved happy, or maybe just putting on a show. There was no way he’d actually let her hold any real power. After all, Honoria Capital was the backbone of Honoria’s entire operation. 

But now, seeing Tessa calling the shots like it’s no big deal, Aurelia couldn’t believe it had gone this far. ‘Isn’t this basically Cassian just handing Honoria Capital over to Tessa?‘ Aurelia thought, a little dazed. 

‘I just hope this doesn’t end up affecting our future collaboration,‘ Aurelia thought, feeling a bit concerned. 

Over lunch, Miranda shared the morning gossip from Honoria Capital with Aurelia, finally answering the questions that had been bugging her. 

Miranda leaned in and whispered, “Apparently, Tessa has completely sidelined Murel. He was so fed up that he took an extended leave for over a month! 

“And that’s not all. Tessa’s been installing her own people everywhere. Honoria Capital might as well be renamed after her!” Miranda added, rolling her eyes. 

“She really sees herself as the lady of the house!” Miranda fumed. 

“Just give it a minute. She’ll officially be the boss soon enough,” Aurelia said, her tone casual but with a hint of irony. 

The meeting wrapped up at four, and Tessa, on behalf of Honoria and Cassian, invited all the partners out for dinner. 

Aurelia was about to make up an excuse and bail, but when Liam mentioned that Curlison would be there too, she bit her tongue and decided to stick around. She figured Cassian was probably inviting Curlison to dinner to help clear the way for Tessa. 

Honoria Capital had some connections with the Campbell family, and if Tessa wanted to take the reins for real, she’d have to win Curlison over. 

Liam had no clue what was going on in Aurelia’s head. He was focused on something else. Ever since Cassian walked in, Liam had been watching Aurelia closely, trying to catch any hint of a reaction. 

But Aurelia didn’t even spare Cassian a glance. She was nothing like Aurelia from before, who used to gaze at Cassian like he was her whole world.

Tessa and Cassian immediately got up to greet him. Since this was Honoria’s turf, everyone else wanted to make a connection with Curlison, but no one dared to cut in ahead of them. 

Tessa was all smiles, personally going over to welcome Curlison. None of her usual arrogance appeared. She was all humble. But Curlison remained indifferent toward her, barely sparing her a glance. He just shook her hand to be polite. 

Tessa, trying to win him over, went out of her way to pull out a chair for him and invited him to sit down. But the moment Curlison spotted Aurelia on the other side of the room, his eyes lit up.
