“Ms. Corin, I didn’t expect to see you here. Looks like I made the right call coming today: Kyler said warmly. brushing past Tessa and heading straight for Aurelia. 

Her expression soured as Kyler ignored Tessa right in front of everyone. Luckily, Cassian was there to save her. When she was feeling the most awkward, he sat down in the chair she’d pulled out and said, “How did you know I wanted to sit here?” 

The people nearby teased them, “You two are totally in sync. I get it now. We’re not just here for dinner, we’re here to watch you two show off your love!” 

With Cassian standing up for her, Tessa felt much better. She took the opportunity to hand out wedding invitations to everyone. 

Aurelia was spot on. Tessa indeed had a bag stuffed with wedding invitations, and she was ready to hand them out to anyone she ran into. 

Aurelia was deep in conversation with Kyler, totally clueless about what was happening with Tessa and Cassian on the other side. 

Kyler said he’d put InquireMind to the test after he got back, and he was convinced it was a real game- changer. He believed the trend of Al costs dropping was only speeding up, which would bring Al into everyday life. 

He also pointed out that InquireMind’s success proved domestic companies could lead the way in tech innovation. It would reshape entire industries and change how business is done at home. 

But their conversation wasn’t just about InquireMind. Kyler also asked Aurelia for her thoughts on how international port investments and development would impact the domestic economy. 

Aurelia had her own take on it, and she spoke her mind without holding back. Kyler hung on to Aurelia’s every word, totally absorbed in what she was saying. 

The deeper their conversation went, the more surprised and delighted he felt, like he’d totally hit the jackpot by showing up that day. The two were so wrapped up in each other that Tessa didn’t have the heart to interrupt and bring up her wedding. 

Everyone could tell that Kyler admired Aurelia. He even invited her to Portview to tour his company’s operations. An invitation like that was not just an honor, but also a clear recognition of Aurelia’s talent. 

Looks like Regal Investment is about to take off. I need to find a way to get in on the action. Liam, sitting right next to Aurelia, took it all in. 

He’d seen what Aurelia was capable of before. But at that moment, he realized he’d only scratched the surface. Watching her, he knew he’d been way too naive before.

Tessa had planned to use this dinner to get closer to Kyler and announce her engagement to Cassian. But in the end, she basically handed Aurelia the chance to cozy up to Kyler, and she was seriously annoyed about it. Still, she just had to suck it up. There was nothing she could do. 

Perhaps she was so into the dinner chat that Aurelia barely touched her food. It wasn’t until she got home that she realized she was starving. She couldn’t cook, and her fridge was basically empty except for a few frozen meals. 

After searching for a while, she finally found a good microwave meal. She put the food into her microwave. Once the microwave rang, her phone rang suddenly, too. It was Wade. 

Aurelia couldn’t find anything to hold the hot microwave meal, then spotted a gold–embossed wedding invitation tucked under her notebook. 

Without hesitating, she used it to pick up her scorching microwave meal while answering Wade’s call. ‘See? Knew this thing would come in handy,‘ Aurelia thought to herself. ‘Guess it’s finally getting some use! 

Wade had been traveling for work lately, and the moment he landed in Ashmont, he called Aurelia and asked if she wanted to grab dinner the next day. 

Plus, he mentioned he’d like to introduce her to a friend. Perhaps they could end up working together in the future. In her line of work, it was all about who she knew. 

Wade was trying to help, so Aurelia had no reason to turn him down. They set a time and place for their dinner. 

After that, she put the wedding invitation aside while taking a fork to eat her food. Wade heard the noise and asked, “What are you doing?” 

“Just having some microwaved meal,” Aurelia replied. 

“Microwaved meals aren’t exactly healthy, you know. And your stomach isn’t the best, right? You should eat something more nutritious,” Wade suggested. His voice was low and smooth, kind of like a cello. 

“It’s no big deal if I have it now and then,” Aurelia replied. “It’s just easy, you know.” 

Wade thought for a second and said, “Let me order you something. There’s this takeout place I really like.” 

Takeout definitely beats microwaved meals any day. But Aurelia knew exactly what saying yes would mean. In the end, she turned him down. 

Wade wasn’t surprised, but he didn’t get discouraged either. He just thought maybe he hadn’t put in enough effort yet, hadn’t done enough to really get through to her. ‘Guess I’ve got to step up my game,’ he thought.

Jasper arrived early at the Cantonese restaurant Wade had chosen, but Wade was already there, and he looked surprisingly formal. He wore a dark shirt with a tie featuring a subtle pattern, and even his suit cuffs were fastened with matching carved cufflinks.

After sitting down, Jasper looked at him in confusion and asked, “You’re dressed so formally. Are you sure this is a business meeting and not a date?” 

Wade couldn’t help but laugh and sighed, “Honestly, I wish it were a date.” 

“So, what, she’s not into you?” Jasper asked, getting curious. “Is her taste really that high? Even you’re not her type?” 

“It’s not that,” Wade said. “She’s just not really interested in dating right now.” 

Jasper shrugged. “Sounds like she’s playing hard to get, keeping you on the hook with that whole ‘push and pull‘ thing.” 

“It’s really not like that,” Wade said, trying to set Jasper straight. “She’s great, and today is really just about business. You two have actually met before, at the entrepreneur conference. I even made sure you were seated together.” 

Jasper, in the middle of sipping his coffee, suddenly paused and frowned. “Don’t tell me you’re trying to set me up with Aurelia.” 

“Yeah, that’s her,” Wade replied. 

Jasper’s expression went cold. “Guess I’ll have to pass, then.” 

“Wait, why?” Wade asked. 

“We just don’t click, so I’m not looking to work with her,” Jasper said. 

Wade was about to ask for the reason. But just then, Jasper’s phone rang. 

The moment he saw the caller’s name, his cold expression immediately softened. “Sorry, I’ve got to run. Let me buy you a drink next time to make it up to you.” 

With that, he stood up and answered the call, his voice noticeably gentler. “Hey, how are you?” 

When Aurelia showed up, Wade was the only one there. He looked a little awkward about Jasper flaking at the last minute. “Sorry, my friend had something come up and couldn’t make it. Didn’t mean to drag you out here for nothing.” 

“That works out. I still owe you a dinner anyway,” Aurelia said, just rolling with it. 

Midway through dinner, Wade suddenly asked, “By the way, did you go to the Lucky Seven Club a while back?” 

He’d caught Aurelia off guard with the question. Aurelia had gotten wasted at the Lucky Seven Club before, so just hearing the name made her tense up. 

“Yeah, I went there once. Why do you ask?” Aurelia replied.

“I kind of did,” Wade replied. For some reason, he was visibly relaxed, letting out a long, breath of relief.
