“That’s Ms. Corin from Regal Investment. She’s our business partner,” the assistant replied honestly.
“A business partner?” Kyler’s frown deepened.
Nietzki Corp was one of the top car companies in the country. To become their partner, a company had to have some serious clout.
Kyler scoffed inwardly, ‘Regal Investment? That tiny, rundown company?

But then he saw how Liam was practically bending over backward for Aurelia, and it all clicked for Kyler.
His contempt and prejudice toward Aurelia only grew stronger.
Kyler couldn’t stand women who climbed the ladder through connections, and he had even less respect for those who had nothing real to offer.
Aurelia was the perfect example of both.
In his eyes, she was no different from someone selling herself for success.

“Let Liam know I’ll be waiting for him in the lounge,” Kyler said, clearly wanting to avoid Aurelia. He gave Liam’s assistant a quick heads–up and strode off.
Aurelia had no clue Kyler had stopped by. She was totally absorbed in the autonomous car project.

Liam mentioned the car would be ready to launch in two months, and he made sure to personally invite Aurelia to attend their new car launch event.

Once the ride was over, Aurelia was about to open the door and step out.

“Liam, is there something else? Just say it,” Aurelia said, thinking it was probably work–related.
Liam stammered for a while before finally blurting out, “Are you free tonight? I was hoping we could have dinner together.”
Aurelia breathed out, relieved. “I thought you were going to bring up work. What’s there to be nervous about? It’s just dinner.”
Liam thought, ‘Nervous? I’m sweating bullets over here.
“Looks like it’s bad timing. I have to head out on a business trip this afternoon. Rain check on dinner?” said Aurelia.
Liam’s face fell.
But he knew Aurelia was a total workaholic. Even if the sky was falling, she’d still put work first.
So all he could do was nod and agree to try again another day.
Still, Liam casually asked, “Where are you headed for your trip?”
Aurelia said she was going to Grendel City for the Game Developers Conference.
“Are you planning to start a game project?” Liam asked.
“Yeah, that’s the idea. I just want to check it out and learn a few things,” Aurelia replied.
“Sounds pretty cool,” Liam said.
Liam knew Regal Investment was booming these days, which meant Aurelia barely had a free moment.
‘God knows when I’ll get another shot at this,‘ Liam thought, a wave of disappointment washing over him.
After Aurelia left, Liam’s assistant came over, ready to tell him that Kyler was waiting for him in the lounge.
But out of nowhere, Liam said, “See if you can get me an invitation to the Game Developers Conference.”
The assistant was totally baffled.
He thought, ‘We’re a car company. What does that have to do with the game industry?
‘And with the new car launch coming up, we’re already swamped. Why does he want to go to a totally unrelated game conference?‘

But in the end, Liam was the boss, so whatever he said, the assistant had to go along with it.
“Kyler’s been waiting for you in the lounge for a while,” the assistant said.

Kyler had been waiting for a while. Normally, there’s no way he’d ever wait this long.
But today, he was willing to stick it out. He wanted to give Liam a heads–up face–to–face, so he wouldn’t end up getting played for a sucker.
“Hey, Kyler, sorry for making you wait,” Liam said as he stepped into the room.
Kyler shrugged. “No worries. So, I heard your autonomous car is about to hit the market?”
“Yeah, it’s coming up soon. If you’ve got time, you’re welcome to join us for the launch, Liam replied, unable to hide his pride.
“I just stopped by your test site. That Aurelia… She’s pretty slick,” Kyler said.
Liam’s smile faded, and he frowned. “Kyler, do you have a problem with Ms. Corin:”
“No. I don’t even know her,” Kyler replied.
“Then you just don’t know her well enough. She’s actually pretty talented,” Liam said.
Even so, Kyler just gave a dismissive smirk.
He was just trying to look out for Liam, but if Liam didn’t want to hear it, there was no point in pushing

“I’m not interested in her,” Kyler said flatly.

“Is the Alpite project launching soon?” Kyler asked.
“Yeah,” Tessa replied.
Kyler mulled it over and decided to take a trip to Grendel City himself.
He wanted to witness every one of Tessa’s highlight moments, including her engagement ceremony.
