Aurelia brushed past Cassian and Tessa and led Arturo around the venue.

There was an interview area at the convention, packed with hundreds of media outlets from all over the country. 

Right now, the place was buzzing. Nobody seemed to know who was in the hot seat, but everyone was crowding over to catch a glimpse. 

Aurelia and Arturo both figured it had to be some big shot from the gaming industry, so they wanted to check it out and maybe learn a thing or two. 

That was their main reason for coming to this convention. 

With the crowd so packed, Arturo and Aurelia ended up getting separated. 

Suddenly, Aurelia’s foot got caught on someone’s leg, and she stumbled forward, totally losing her composure. 

There was some audio equipment right in front of her, and Aurelia didn’t have time to dodge. She just shut her eyes, bracing herself for the inevitable crash. 

But at the last second, someone grabbed her hand. 

Aurelia felt a strong force pull her back, and then an arm locked firmly around her waist, holding her steady. 

The crowd around them erupted in gasps. 

Before Aurelia could even open her eyes, her face bumped right into a solid chest. 

Aurelia caught a whiff of that familiar, chilly fragrance, a crisp, woody undertone mixed with a faint trace of tobacco. 

Aurelia was stunned for a moment, then looked up, her gaze colliding with Cassian’s deep, obsidian eyes. 

His face showed little emotion, that trademark icy indifference lingering in his eyes. 

It was as if he’d just helped out a random stranger without a second thought. 

Once Aurelia regained her balance, she pulled away from his embrace and stepped back. 

That intense, almost aggressive scent faded away as she put distance between them. 

“Thanks,” Aurelia said. 

It was only right for her to thank him. 

But it was just a perfunctory gesture, no real emotion in her voice.

“You’re welcome,” Cassian said, his voice cool and detached, like he was just a bystander. 

After that fleeting moment, they each went their own way.

Just as Aurelia found Arturo, before she could say anything, a reporter suddenly shouted out. ‘What’s going on?‘ Aurelia thought, glancing over. 

“Mr. Locke, Ms. Rowe, over here! I’m totally shipping you two! There was that story not long ago about Mr. Locke splurging 60 million dollars at an auction just to buy jewelry for Ms. Rowe. Can’t believe I see you both in the flesh today. This is unreal!” 

That piece of gossip had been everywhere at the time. Even Mia, who was holed up filming on a closed set, had caught wind of it. 

Once the reporter brought it up, everyone who’d seen the story immediately recognized Cassian and Tessa. 

The crowd swarmed over, all eager to get a closer look. 

Cassian gently pulled Tessa into his arms, making sure she was safe from the jostling crowd, his protective instincts on full display. 

The women around them couldn’t help but squeal with envy at the sweet gesture. 

Flashbulbs went off in a frenzy. 

Tessa leaned her head closer to Cassian, drawing them even closer together. 

“Rumor has it you two are about to tie the knot?” the same reporter called out, unable to wait to ask her burning question. 

Tessa smiled and replied, “Yes, we’re getting engaged.” 

“You two are seriously the gold standard for sapiosexuals! The ultimate brainy couple!” the reporter gushed. 

She even took the chance to fill in her colleagues. “Everyone knows Mr. Locke. He’s basically a regular in all the top business magazines. 

“But let me tell you about his fiancée, Ms. Rowe. She’s got a PhD in finance from Whitvale School of Management!” 

“No wonder Mr. Locke is so into her. With a fiancée like her, who wouldn’t be proud? They’re a total top–tier couple!” the reporter added. 

Aurelia and Arturo finally squeezed their way out of the crowd and could finally enjoy some quiet. 

“I thought it was gonna be a legit interview, but it was just the gossip crowd,” Arturo muttered. “Total waste of 

time.” 

Aurelia felt the same way. 

Just as they were about to leave, a young man in a sharp suit walked over and greeted Aurelia politely. “Ms.

Corin, Mr. Keith would like to have a word with you in the VIP room.” 

Aurelia recognized him. 

He was Darren’s secretary. 

“Lead the way,” Aurelia said.

When Aurelia arrived at the VIP room, Darren was in the middle of a conversation with a few others. 

As soon as he saw her, he stood up and came over to greet her. “Ms. Corin.” 

The others also stood up, their eyes all landing on Aurelia. 

Everyone was silently wondering who this Ms. Corin was and why Darren was treating her with such importance. 

“Hey, Mr. Keith,” Aurelia greeted him, offering a handshake. 

“I spotted you carlier while I was checking out the convention, but I was caught up in something and couldn’t come over. Now that things have wrapped up, I asked my secretary to bring you here,” Darren said, sounding a bit apologetic. 

It was clear Darren was trying to explain himself to Aurelia. 

But the more he tried to clarify, the more curious everyone else became. 

‘Anyone Mr. Keith treats this way has to be a big deal,‘ they all thought. 

“I didn’t expect to see you again so soon after our last meeting, Ms. Corin. Looks like fate keeps bringing us together,” Darren said with a friendly smile. 

Darren then asked, “Do you have a game project in the works?” 

Aurelia nodded. “Yeah, it’s still in the early stages, so I’m mostly here to pick up some tips.” 

“That’s just right. Let me introduce you to some seasoned pros in the industry. They’ve got loads of experience, so you can learn a lot from them,” Darren said. 

Then, Darren turned to the others in the room. “Help Ms. Corin out, okay? Share the lessons you’ve learned, especially the pitfalls, so she can steer clear of them. It’s tough for women to start their own thing, so let’s give her all the support we can.” 

“Of course. Of course,” the others chimed in. 

Since Darren said so, everyone was quick to agree. 

After Darren invited Aurelia to take a seat, everyone genuinely began sharing their hard–earned experiences 

with her. 

Aurelia listened intently, soaking up all the wisdom and lessons from these veterans, eager to learn as much as

Halfway through their chat, one of the staff popped in to let them know the convention was about to kick off, and invited Darren and the other industry heavyweights to take their seats in the VIP section. 

Aurelia, naturally, wasn’t among the VIPS. 

She said with a smile, “Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom, everyone. Dinner’s on me next time!” 

But Darren said, “We haven’t finished our conversation yet. Let’s continue at the main event.” 

The staff immediately understood and invited Aurelia, “Please join us, Ms. Corin. We’ll arrange a seat for you.” 

“Thank you, I appreciate it,” Aurelia replied, accepting without hesitation. 

Opportunities like this were rare. She wasn’t about to let it pass her by. 

By the time they arrived at the main hall, most people had already taken their seats. 

Tessa and Cassian were seated at the main table. 

Right next to them was Darren. 

When Tessa spotted Darren’s name on the seating chart, her face lit up with excitement. 

Last time, Cassian had arranged for her to meet Darren and build that connection, but Aurelia had interfered. 

Tessa had been holding a grudge about that for ages. 

But now, the chance was right in front of her again. 

Tessa was set on making the most of this opportunity. She leaned over to Cassian and whispered, “Cassian, why didn’t you tell me Mr. Keith was coming to the Game Developers Conference? I wasn’t ready at all.” 

Cassian shook his head, “I just found out too.” 

Tessa pouted, “I thought you knew and were keeping it from me on purpose.” 

Cassian gave her a look, “When have I ever kept anything from you?” 

Just as they were getting all lovey–dovey, a staff member walked over to Tessa. “Hi, Ms. Rowe, I’m with the convention team. I’m really sorry, but it looks like we messed up your seat assignment. Let me take you to your spot.” 

Tessa froze for a second, looking stunned. “Wait, how did my seat get messed up?”
