Kyler’s expression was grim, but since he’d already made the promise, he had no choice but to follow through, no matter how reluctant he was.

Tessa had been waiting all night and finally managed to catch Darren for a conversation.

When Aurelia knocked and walked in, the woman was sitting in Liam’s lap, arms around his neck, kissing him passionately. 

She was probably just one of the many girls Liam’s been with. 

Somehow, she managed to show up at this party, so she was clearly not just anyone. 

Tessa seemed to catch on, too. She tugged Cassian’s arm and said, “Forget it, Cassian. I’m a little tired. Let’s head out.” 

She kept it classy. 

Cassian quickly reined himself in and led Tessa away. 

Finally, Aurelia went over to say goodbye to Darren. As she passed Shelley, she couldn’t help but glance at her again. 

Shelley shot her a playful wink. 

Aurelia paused for a second as a middle–aged guy with a bit of a belly walked over. 

Shelley immediately cozied up to him, putting on her sweetest act. “Honey, what took you so long? You have no idea how boring this party is. Can we go home? I’m totally wiped out.” 

The guy just laughed and indulged her, “Alright, whatever you want.” 

Aurelia went over and said goodbye to Darren. 

Darren stuck around chatting a bit more with Aurelia. He knew what Zofia had talked to her about and made sure Aurelia knew he was in her corner. 

Aurelia promised she’d work hard and wouldn’t let them down. 

After she finished saying goodbye to Eric, Aurelia was just about to head out when someone called her name. 

She turned and saw Kyler standing there, looking confused. 

With a frosty expression, Kyler said, “I’m sorry.” 

His voice was just loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. 

Aurelia thought she was imagining things. 

When she realized Kyler was actually apologizing to her, she frowned, completely confused. 

Aurelia wondered, ‘Is Kyler off his meds or just crazy?

‘Why are there so many two–faced people these days? 

‘Ugh, it’s really getting on my nerves. 

Aurelia didn’t give him the time of day. She just turned on her heel and walked off. 

Kyler’s expression turned downright frosty at that.

‘I went out of my way to apologize, and she still acts like this? What does she want from me?‘ Kyler grumbled to himself, annoyed. 

By the time Aurelia got back to her hotel room, it was already late. She was just about to hop in the shower and call it a night when someone knocked on her door. 

When she opened it, she found the hotel manager standing there. 

The manager looked nervous. “Ms. Corin, I’m sorry to bother you at this hour, but we had a situation at the hotel earlier today. Someone paid off one of our staff members to pull off a theft. Did you happen to lose anything?” 

Aurelia was on a business trip, so she didn’t have much with her. Just a quick look was enough to see if anything was missing. 

Everything was accounted for, except for one thing… 

Aurelia suddenly realized the invitation was missing and mentioned it to the manager. 

“Was it the invitation to Mr. Darren Keith’s party?” the manager asked. 

“Yes, that’s the one,” Aurelia confirmed. 

“That’s right! That invitation was exactly what they were after!” The manager kept apologizing, promised to get to the bottom of it, and even gave Aurelia a gift to make up for the trouble. 

After the manager left, Aurelia shook her head, thinking, ‘Who would’ve thought I’d run into something like this?‘ 

Darren’s party was pure gold for anyone in business. 

No wonder people would do whatever it took to get in. 

After her shower, Aurelia was about to crawl into bed when the room was suddenly flooded with light from outside. 

She looked out the window and saw fireworks lighting up the sky. 

The hotel was right by Victoria Harbor, the most bustling spot in Veyport, so it was usual to see fireworks lighting up the night here. 

The fireworks were stunning, and Aurelia couldn’t help but watch a little longer. She snapped a few pics on her phone and posted them to Instagram.
