Chapter 57 

The burly guy up front flashed a toothy grin when he heard that. 

“Hell yeah, we stick together through thick and thin. When there are women, we all get to party, he laughed. 

As he laughed, he flashed his yellowed teeth, and the stench coming off him was enough to make you gag. 

His eyes narrowed with greed and lust as he hefted a fire axe on his shoulder, swaggering closer. 

The skinny guy, pinned down, kept shooting calculated glances at Room 3, his eyes full of anticipation. 

He clenched his palm tightly. 

Why hasn’t he come out yet?‘ he wondered, growing impatient. ‘Man, if you keep hiding, they’re gonna do something to 

your woman. 

His plan was solid; he was sure the guy in Room 3 would come out swinging. 

Even if that guy was a badass, he was still outnumbered. When both sides were beaten down, he’d play the winner, score the knockout beauty from Room 2, and the wild, busty chick right in front of him. 

Still, nothing was happening. ‘Is he chickening out?‘ the skinny guy thought, getting impatient. 

With the door wide open, the skinny guy was pinned down, keeping his eyes glued to Room 3’s door down the hallway. 

Chloe and Emily stood shoulder to shoulder, taking a step back each time, but the man just kept stepping closer. 

When they finally ran out of room, the two girls exchanged a glance, instantly reading each other’s minds. 

“Don’t be scared, pretty girl. With a face like yours, I will make sure you have a good time,” the man leered. 

His buddies behind him roared with laughter. 

Just a second ago, the two girls were shaking with fear, but in the blink of an eye, their faces turned cold and determined. 

Emily darted back, suddenly whipping out a pitch–black heavy crossbow and aiming it right at the burly leader. 

The leader’s face went pale. “Back off,” he barked. 

The moment the words left his mouth, six steel–tipped bolts shot out in a blur from the crossbow. 

His head looked like a porcupine, bristling with bolts. He hit the floor, twitching like crazy, eyes wide and blood pouring out of his wounds. 

Chloe suddenly flashed a smile, her beauty blooming like a garden in full spring, so stunning. 

“Come on, let’s all play together,” Chloe teased, her voice dripping with playful menace. 

She reached out into thin air, and a 3–foot–long ice blade appeared out of nowhere, gripped firmly in her hand. 

The seven burly men recoiled in terror, stumbling backward. 

“D–Don’t come any closer,” one of them stammered. 

Chloe just smiled, her ice blade trailing along the ground as she stepped right over the burly guy’s corpse. The blade picked up blood, carving a long crimson streak across the floor. 

Chapter 57 

“Weren’t you begging for some fun?” she taunted. 

Emily quickly loaded six more bolts into her crossbow, staying glued to Chloe’s back.

The seven men’s eyes flashed with malice as one of them shouted to the others, “Let’s gut this bitch and avenge Boss” 

“For Boss,” they yelled. 

They charged like a pack of rabid dogs, but Emily was ice–cold and ruthless. She let loose a bolt, and the lead thug dropped instantly, twitching in a pool of blood, his eyes wide open, never finding peace. 

Six left to go. 

Chloe flashed through the crowd like a phantom. In less than two seconds, she came to a halt, her ice blade stained crimson with fresh blood. 

An eerie silence hung in the air for a heartbeat. Then, six heads tumbled across the floor, followed by the heavy thud of six headless bodies collapsing. 

The scent of blood drove the zombies in the hallway into an even wilder frenzy. 

At some point, two zombies showed up at the top of the stairs, their faces a sickly gray as they crept closer, letting out ghastly, grating laughter. 

Chloe didn’t budge. Instead, she turned her attention to the skinny guy in Room 1, bound and helpless, staring at her in stunned disbelief. 

Fear flickered in his eyes. He tried to speak, mouth agape, but he was struck dumb; no words came out. 

Not in a million years did he think it would end like this. 

It was downright horrifying. 

She flashed him a smile, so beautiful that it was unreal, her petite frame almost fragile, but that smile was pure nightmare fuel, sending chills down his spine and making his skin crawl. 

“D–Don’t come any closer,” the skinny guy choked out, his voice shaking with terror. 

Chloe stalked forward, ice blade in hand, every slow step landing like a sledgehammer on the guy’s chest, making his heart pound in his throat. 

The ice blade scraped along the floor, screeching so loud that it was pure nightmare fuel. 

Emily wasted no time, dropping the two zombies in a heartbeat. She whipped out a cloth and casually wiped the blood off her crossbow bolts. 

“Please, don’t kill me. I’m begging you, please,” the skinny guy whimpered, his voice shaking with fear. 

His face was pale, and with his body tied up, he could only wriggle backward like a helpless worm. 

“What’s with all the fear? I just wanted to play with you a little,” Chloe said, her tone cold and mocking. 

“N–No,” he stuttered, barely able to get the words out. 

He didn’t even finish before Chloe’s ice blade pierced straight through his throat. 

“Ah.” The two women in the room let out ear–piercing screams, their voices slicing through the air. 

Chloe just gave them a chilly glance, then turned and walked out.

But before Chloe could leave, her leg was grabbed from behind. She turned to see the desperate woman from earlier, the one who’d knocked on the door. 

“Please, girl, help me. Just give me something to eat. I’m starving. I’m about to lose it,” the woman pleaded. 

Chloe just stared down at her, cold and emotionless, then shifted her gaze to the baby tossed carelessly on the floor. 

The baby’s face was very pale, lips tinged blue, obviously long dead. 

“Get lost,” Chloe said coldly. 

The woman clung to Chloe’s leg, throwing a fit and refusing to let go. “You killed them. Now there’s no one left to protect me, you have to take responsibility.” 

She shot a nervous glance at the dead guys outside, shivered, then bit her lip, trying to muster up some courage. 

“You have to take responsibility for me,” she whined. 

Chloe just snorted, lowering her head to meet the woman’s eyes. “Responsibility? Sure, let me help you out, straight to hell. See you there.” 

As soon as Chloe raised her ice blade, the woman instantly let go of her leg and frantically crawled away, her face very pale. 

“No, please, no,” she cried out. She cowered under the table, trembling uncontrollably. 

Chloe frowned, her eyes lingering on the blood–soaked corpses. The heavy stench hanging in the air wouldn’t just lure zombies; it was bound to bring mutant beasts sniffing around, too. 

“There’s no other choice. We have to get out of here today,‘ Chloe wondered. She resolved, her nerves taut with urgency. 

Just as Chloe was about to say something, the burly, bearded guy from next door suddenly spoke up. 

“Hey, pretty lady, you’re like a war god come to life. Seriously, that was epic,” he shouted, awe written all over his face. 

“Please, gorgeous, let me follow you. Let’s team up; you call the shots. I will do whatever you order,” he begged, practically groveling. 

He nervously swallowed, sneaking a glance at the ice blade in her hand, still dripping blood, but he didn’t dare unlock the reinforced door. 

“Whatever you say, I’ll do it. I’ll be your most loyal lapdog, no questions asked,” he fawned. 

Emily couldn’t help but let out a snicker. This tough–looking middle–aged dude was actually kind of amusing when he talked. 

Seeing Emily laugh, Frank gave a goofy grin, too, but there was a flash of shrewdness in his eyes. 

“Hey, girl, you look like a good person. Can you talk to your leader for me? Let me come with you guys, please?” he begged, sounding desperate. 

Emily shook her head hard. “No.” 

Frank looked discouraged. “Man, you guys are really a tough nut to crack.” 

He kept babbling away, but Chloe and Emily were already making their way 

downstairs. 

“Wait up, guys. Don’t leave me behind,” Frank shouted, sounding totally desperate. 

Frank scrambled to unlock the security door, about to run after them, but then doubled back into his room.
