Chapter 70Â
As soon as the powered human finished speaking, Frank’s fist, hard as iron and bronze–colored, came crashing down.Â
Each blow smashed right into the man’s skull, sending brains flying everywhere.Â
Chloe stared, utterly dumbfounded.Â
Chloe thought, ‘Oh my god. This is even scarier than any strength–powered human I’ve ever seen!Â
Frank’s powers were both for attack and defense; if they ever had to fight zombies as a group, he’d always be the first to charge in and make the perfect tank.Â
But Chloe still had no plans to let him join her team.Â
He was brutal, had that mean, sly look about him, not the kind of guy she’d want as a teammate. But teaming up for now was fine.Â
Chloe had been screwed over by her teammates in her previous life, so this time, she was determined to go solo, except for Emily.Â
It only took five seconds for Frank to finish his fight, and just as the other powered humans snapped out of their shock, they all raised their sniper rifles, aiming straight at Chloe and him.Â
Just then, a sudden commotion erupted in the distance, followed by screams.Â
Chloe turned to look, and her legs went numb.Â
Zombies surged in like a tidal wave, closing in from every direction, encircling everyone, and trapping them with no wayÂ
out.Â
Even from the water, zombies were relentlessly crawling out, their bloodthirsty maws wide open, desperate for flesh.Â
The powered humans stopped chasing Chloe and Frank, turning their guns on the zombies instead.Â
The endless gunfire and the heavy stench of blood in the air just drove the zombies even wilder.Â
Guns might be deadly against people, but against zombies, they were not so much.Â
It didn’t take long before the whole place was overrun.Â
Taking advantage of the chaos, Chloe dashed back the way she came. Not far away, under a utility pole, grew the mutagenic herb, the kind that could awaken powers in regular people.Â
The first wave was just regular zombies, and Chloe tore through them like nothing; zombies went flying left and right wherever she passed.Â
She finally grabbed the mutagenic herb she’d been after. As soon as she got up, Emily and Frank came running over.Â
Frank pointed toward the RV. “Get in the RV, now!” he shouted.Â
The RV had clearly been reinforced by a metal–powered human; even first–level zombies couldn’t break through its shell.Â
But right now, the place was packed; people were shoving, trampling, and zombies had already squeezed in. Getting through was no easy feat.Â
The three of them teamed up in perfect sync, almost like they’d practiced this a hundred times.Â

Frank bellowed, and right before their eyes, he grew to a towering 10 feet tall.Â
His shirt ripped apart, muscles bulging everywhere, and his skin shone with a dark golden glow, like a living bronze statue,Â
“Outta my way!” he shouted.Â
With that roar, he strode forward, carving a bloody path through the crowd for Chloe and Emily to follow.Â
After finally fighting their way to the RV, Chloe had just swung the door open when Rosalie popped up out of nowhere, trying to barge inside.Â
Chloe sent her flying with a swift kick.Â
“Why the hell not? I’m with Mr. Quinn, too! Why can’t I get in?” Rosalie yelled.Â
Chloe let out a cold chuckle, not even dignifying Rosalie with a response. Instead, she pulled out a key and handed it to Frank.Â
“Take the wheel,” she ordered.Â
Frank shrank back to his normal size and, without missing a beat, made a beeline for the driver’s seat.Â
Once Emily was inside, Chloe was about to climb in herself when Vanessa suddenly latched onto her leg.Â
Vanessa stuck her head in and shouted, “Mr. Quinn, my daughter just helped you out. Please, let us in.”Â
Chloe suddenly conjured a long ice sword in her hand, and with one swift slash, she chopped off Vanessa’s arms.Â
“Ah!” Vanessa screamed. Vanessa’s deafening wail echoed through the air, and the smell of blood grew even thicker.Â
Chloe’s face darkened as she saw an endless stream of first–level zombies surging in behind the regular ones, and even some zombie beasts joining the horde.Â
“Emily, did you clear out all the obstacles up front?” Chloe called out.Â
“They’re all taken care of. Nothing left standing; we can go,” Emily replied quickly.Â
Chloe slammed the door shut, and the deafening chaos outside was instantly cut off.Â
Frank fired up the engine and plowed straight into the zombie horde ahead.Â
Some zombie cats even jumped onto the roof, pounding on the windows with all their might, desperate to break in.Â
Luckily, the windows were made of reinforced bulletproof glass, and a metal–powered human had given them extra protection. Unless a small bomb went off, nothing could break through.Â
This RV was built like a tank, perfect for surviving the apocalypse.Â
The RV was moving fast, but despite the continuous impacts and crushing blows, it remained unharmed.Â
From a distance, Chloe could see the river absolutely teeming with fish, all of them leaping out of the water in a frenzy.Â
Every single one had mutated; their eyes were pitch–black and creepy, and their mouths had turned razor–sharp, snapping their jagged teeth as they jumped.Â
If anyone fell into the water, they were instantly mobbed by a swarm of mutant fish.Â
The fish went wild, ripping and shredding with their saw–like teeth, turning the water blood–red in seconds.Â

People didn’t even get a chance to scream. Before they knew it, the mutant fish had torn them to pieces and devoured mÂ
whole.Â
As the RV sped across the bridge, the sawtooth mutant fish went berserk, leaping out of the water and smashing their jagged teeth against the vehicle, making a sound that set everyone’s teeth on edge.Â
“Floor it. Get us out of here,” Chloe shouted.Â
Frank’s view through the windshield was completely blocked by a swarm of leaping sawtooth mutant fish.Â
Up close, Chloe could see that those sawtooth mutant fish were actually sporting tiny, see–through wings.Â
Watching them smash into the windshield nonstop, Chloe realized every single one was at least as strong as a first–levelÂ
mutant.Â
Those mutated, razor–sharp sawteeth were their main way of attacking, definitely their biggest threat.Â
One massive sawtooth mutant fish slammed headfirst into the windshield; its eyes were blood–red, and its teeth were way bigger and sharper than the others.Â
“Look. That’s a second–level sawtooth mutant fish,” Emily shouted.Â
The three of them inside the RV felt their scalps tingle in terror.Â
Frank gunned it, going on pure instinct, and sped the RV toward the far side of the bridge.Â
By some miracle, they made it through in one piece; scary as hell, but no one got hurt.Â
But they celebrated way too soon.Â
With a screech of brakes, the RV came to a sudden halt.Â
Right in front of them stood a massive tiger mutant beast, blocking their way.Â
Everyone tensed up again. The three of them exchanged glances and stepped out, bracing themselves for whatever cameÂ
next.Â
Standing before them was a real tiger, towering over them, easily ten times its normal size. Its jaws were so massive that it could fit a whole person inside without even trying.Â
Honestly, the three of them together would barely make a snack for this beast.Â
But a truly powerful mutant beast can always sense if its opponent is a real threat or not.Â
It kept its eyes fixed on Chloe, licking its lips hungrily.Â
“What do we do?” Emily stammered, her teeth chattering so hard, looking like she was about to burst into tears.Â
She’d never seen a mutant beast this huge before.Â
‘I don’t think I’m gonna survive tonight,‘ Emily thought.Â
Chloe shot Frank a look and asked, “How strong is that thing?”Â
Frank blinked, surprised Chloe even knew about his sensing power.Â
“Third–level,” Frank stammered, voice shaking.Â
He gulped, legs turning to jelly. Just the sheer aura of that beast was enough to make him feel like a bug.Â

Tigers are just naturally brutal. Put a third–level human up against a third–level tiger, and honestly, there’s no contest The human would get absolutely steamrolled.Â
“Chloe, if it comes down to it, let’s just bail,” Frank managed to say, his teeth clenched tight.Â
Honestly, there’s no point in even trying to fight. They would get insta–killed.Â
