Chapter 13Â

Evangelina’s POVÂ
I wake up the next morning to my alarm clock on my nightstand. As normal it reads 5:00 AM, the first round of training is at 6:00.1 should have enough time to go to training and be backÂ
before my guests get up.Â
With that thought, I quickly changed and headed down stairs. Successfully ramming into Linc on the last stair, causing him to stumble backwards. He regained balance before we could both fall to the floor. I look up into those bright green eyes filled with mirth.Â
“I know that I distract you, but you didn’t need to pretend to fall so I would catch you.” He says jokingly. I quickly stand straight and slap his arm.Â
“You caught me. You’re just so irresistible that I have to stage running into you to get close to you.” I say back sarcastically. He chuckles, then takes in my appearance and his eyes fill withÂ
concern.Â
“How much sleep did you get?” He asks.Â
“Three hours give or take.” I answer and he shakes his head.Â
“That explains why you look like the walking dead.” He says.Â
“Oh you’re gonna pay for that comment in about 20 minutes.” I say and he holds out his fistÂ
with his pinkie and thumb sticking out, and starts to shake it back and forth.Â
“Ooooo I’m shakin.” He says and I give him the ‘are you serious‘ look. He just laughs and linksÂ
his arm through mine, guiding us towards the front door.Â
“Seriously though. How can you run on 3 to 4 hours of sleep a night and still kick my ass?” He asks and I laugh.Â
“It’s simple. I am just better than you.” I say and he chuckles slightly then looks toward me.Â
“I guess you are the alpha for a reason.” He says and I nod my head.Â
“And don’t you forget it.” I say and he squeezes my arm.Â
“How can I forget it when you kick my ass in training even when you wear the silver bracelet?”Â
He says and I shake my head.Â
Yes we train, using silver. This is so that you don’t rely solely on your gift. The bracelets don’t burn because there is a layer of thick leather that is between the silver and skin. The silverÂ

still binds your healing and gifts, unless you happen to be me. I need the bracelet with noÂ
leather because of my gifts and healing being so strong. They void my gifts, but my healingÂ
still works, just slower.Â
After the 2 hour training, I head back to the pack house with Linc and Marie at my side. TheyÂ
are joking around and shoving each other.Â
When we reach the dining hall I grab a protein shake and a handful of bacon before turning to leave. Linc looks at me questioningly.Â
“I have some business to attend to. I will let you know when I need you two to join me.” I inform him and Marie. They both nod and I turn around to leave, shovelling the bacon in my mouth as I head up the stairs to change my clothes. I mostly instructed this morning’sÂ
training, so I am not as sweaty as I normally am. I really don’t have time to shower anyways. IÂ
have a feeling that my guests will be up soon.Â
After I change I make my way toward Gamma Henry’s room. I knock on the door and wait aÂ
few seconds before he opens it. He has small bags under his eyes and his hair is a mess.Â
“Do you need more time to get ready?” I ask and he blinks a few times as if he doesn’tÂ
understand me.Â
“Uh no. I’ll be fine. I’d rather speak with your Alpha before I do anything else. Are you sure heÂ
doesn’t mind we just showed up here?” He asks and I roll my eyes. Why do people alwaysÂ
think that an Alpha is a man? I mean, I guess people know me as Evan, but they know nothingÂ
about our pack or me.Â
“I am sure. Let’s go.” I say and turn towards the girl’s room. When I knock on their door, I don’tÂ
hear anything. I tune in to hear one groaning and the other moving around. After a fewÂ
moments the door swings open to reveal Talissa. Her dark gray eyes are her indication.Â
“Are you both decent enough for Henry to come in?” I ask and she nods her head, opening theÂ
door wider. I step through and see Nalissa sitting in bed with her dark blond hair stuck everyÂ
which way. She is rubbing her eyes and groaning.Â
“Ugh.. What time is it?” She asks and when she opens her eyes she makes a small squealÂ
when she sees me.Â
“It’s almost 9:00.” I answer her and her eyes widen slightly, giving away her slight surprise of.Â
me being there.Â
“Sh*t. I don’t have my list of questions ready.” She says scrambling out of bed, successfullyÂ
tripping over the sheets and falling.Â

As soon as her head made the ‘thunk‘ sound against the hardwood Henry bursts out laughingÂ
from behind me. I try my best to contain my laughter, by biting my lips, but my shoulders areÂ
slightly shaking from containing the laughter. It doesn’t help that Talissa is buckled overÂ
laughing and Nalissa is still trying to get untangled from the sheets.Â
“It looks like she is fighting with a ghost and the ghost is winning.” Veena snorts in my head.Â
After her comment I start laughing, I can’t help it. Nalissa finally gets up and glares at all ofÂ
- us.Â
“Ha Ha. real funny.” She says grimily.Â
“It really is.” Henry says from behind me. After a few moments we all calm down and I headÂ
toward the chair in the corner of the room and sit.Â
“You all can sit. We will talk in here.” I say and while the girls sit, Henry looks at me inÂ
confusion.Â
“I thought we were going to speak with your Alpha?” He asks and I look from him towards theÂ
girls. They smirk at each other knowingly and I smile slightly.Â
“I am the Alpha, Henry.” I say looking back at him and I see his jaw drop slightly.Â
“This.. Is your pack?” He asks and I nod. He slowly walks toward the bed and sits on the edge next to the girls. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to assume. I just don’t know many female alphas.” HeÂ
apologizes and I see a slight red creep up his neck.Â
“It’s fine.” I say and look towards the girls.Â
“I’ll give you time to ask questions, but first I need to lay some ground rules.” I say and they allÂ
nod their heads. “You are here to train. I expect all three of you to take it seriously. We are aÂ
very skilled pack that trains three times a day. Since it is summer the kids are out of schoolÂ
they train as well. We have many species here, not just wolves. You will be respectful to ALL members of this pack, in turn you will be respected here. You will learn to use your gifts inÂ
many ways, including battle. Lastly and most importantly, while you are here you will not haveÂ
a title or use your full names. Henry you are fine, but Talissa, you will be Tali and Nalissa, youÂ
will be Nali. Both of your shortened names stand out still, but your full names stand out even more and people will make the connection.” I say and I see them nodding.Â
“Why can’t we use titles?” Henry asks and I look at him.Â
“Because one, my pack does not use titles from outside packs. While you are here all people are equal and two, seventy percent of my pack strongly dislikes the royals and I don’t want trouble if the girls are addressed as princess. Plus we are technically rogues so we don’tÂ

recognize royals as our superior.” I answer and he nods his head.Â
“Why does your pack not like royals?” He asks and I sigh.Â

“For more reasons than one that I am not going to get into.” I answer and his brows furrow inÂ
frustration.Â
“Will we be safe here?” He asks and I nod my head.Â
“Yes. Even if it gets out that you all are from the royal pack and the girls are princesses there will be no violence. But I cannot promise that my pack will be most welcoming and willing to train with you all. Even if I order it, I can’t keep track of all the members in my pack.” I answer.Â
“How many members do you have?” Nalissa asks.Â
“In the veil there are 483 members.” I say and Nalissa’s jaw drops.Â
“What do you mean by ‘in the veil?” Henry asks.Â
“The veil hides. As you saw last night, only people who are welcome are able to come in. Outside of the veil I have a few subgroups that make up 312 more people.” I answer and HenryÂ
sucks in a breath.Â
“You have over 700 members?” He asks and I nod my head. “How is that even possible?” HeÂ
asks.Â
“Like I said, we have more species than just that of wolves. There are witches, fae, vampires, many shifters and hybrids.” I say while he is nodding his head.Â
“How did you get different species?” He asks, surprising me with the fact that he is not disgusted with multiple species.Â
“Respect. My pack helps everyone who needs it. Covens and other packs even ask for help and guidance. They are included in my calculation of subgroups outside of the veil” I answer and his eyes widen in shock.Â
“Really? How come we never heard of the rogue pack who helps everybody?” He asks slightly rudely. I clear my throat and give him a pointed look.Â
“Because we do not want to be known. The groups we deal with know not to speak of ourÂ
dealings. And it isn’t like the royal pack has any dealings with other species.” I say and heÂ
looks down, but I can see the frustration he has. “Any other questions?” I ask and they allÂ
shake their heads.Â
“Okay I will give you time to get ready and then I will introduce you to my Beta and HeadÂ
Gamma.” I say and Henry’s eyes meet mine.Â

“Head Gamma?” He asks and I nod my head.Â

“I have one gamma for each hundred people in the veil and two that go around to each of our subgroups, or allies as you would call them. Then a head gamma who deals with them. I have had to restructure the pack since we have accumulated so many members.” I answer and stand up. “I will be back to get you in an hour. Breakfast should be arriving soon.” I say andÂ
turn towards the door.Â
“Thank you.” Talissa says so lowly that I can barley hear her. I am going to have to figure outÂ
why she is being so timid.Â
“You’re welcome.” I say as I walk out of the door and toward my office. I am not sure how well this is going to go, but if the goddess has guided them to me, then I trust that.Â
