Tessa’s vacation was over, and she was slowly getting back into the swing of things at work But the moment she stepped into the office, Ewan ambushed her right at the entrance. He’d been staking out the building for almost two weeks, showing up every single day.

‘What else could he do? It’s not like Tessa ever answered his calls, Ewan thought helplessly.

After the fireworks fiasco, he got thrown under the bus and became the scapegoat. All the blame landed on him, while Tessa just made herself scarce and let him take the heat.

The game got pulled from the market, and now he was drowning in lawsuits and demands for compensation.

Even if he drained every last cent from his family’s savings, it still wouldn’t be enough to fill the hole he’d dug himself into. Desperate and out of options, he had no choice but to come looking for Tessa.

“Ms. Rowe, you finally showed up. Seriously, you have to help me this time or I’m done for,” Ewan pleaded, grabbing her suit jacket so she couldn’t get away.

“Let go,” Tessa replied, her expression frosty.

It was the middle of the morning rush, with people streaming in and out of the entrance. Making a scene like this was the last thing she needed in front of everyone.

“No way! You have to help me out first. I’m really at the end of my rope here. Just do me this favor! Come on, it’s nothing to you, just some cash!” Ewan pleaded.

Ewan wasn’t stupid. He knew that if he let go now, he’d never get another shot at talking to Tessa.

“Security! Security!” Tessa shouted, her voice rising in panic.

Ewan’s face twisted with fury. “So you think you can just cut me loose, huh? Now that everything’s blown up, you want to pretend you had nothing to do with it? You were the one who planned the fireworks, pitched the whole thing, even brought in the designer. And now you want to pin it all on me? Not a chance!

“If you don’t help me, I’ll call a press conference and tell the reporters everything! We’ll see who gets destroyed, you or me. I’ve got nothing left to lose, so I’m not scared to drag you down with me! If we’re going down, we’re going down together,” Ewan yelled, his voice shaking with desperation and rage.

Ewan was truly out for blood now, ready to do whatever it took.

Push someone to the edge, and there was nothing they wouldn’t do.

Tessa wasn’t just flustered anymore. She was actually scared out of her wits now.

Ewan was about to lose it, but as soon as he saw who it was, his bravado vanished. “M–Mr. Locke,” he stammered, suddenly looking a lot less tough.

Tessa instantly felt safe, like someone finally had her back.

She gripped Cassian’s sleeve for dear life, as if it was her only lifeline.

“Let’s talk upstairs,” Cassian said, his voice calm and commanding. With that, he led Tessa away.

Ewan hurried after them, not daring to fall behind.

The security team quickly moved in, clearing out the crowd of onlookers.

They ordered everyone to delete any photos or videos they’d taken, making sure nothing got out and everything stayed under wraps.

Aurelia, Miranda, and the newly hired assistant were all asked to go along with the inspection as well.

Miranda muttered under her breath, clearly annoyed. “Who’d even want to snap pics of her? What’s the big deal? We’re here for a business meeting, not to get caught up in some drama.”

The security guard gave a friendly smile. “Sorry, but these are Mr. Locke’s orders. She’s set to be the future Mrs. Locke at Honoria Capital, so I hope you all understand.”

Miranda was about to protest again, but Aurelia cut her off.

Aurelia showed her phone to the guard for inspection, and reminded Miranda and the assistant to do the same.

She still had business to handle and didn’t want to get caught up in this mess.

Once the security guard finished checking their phones, he let the three of them through.

Aurelia had come to see Cassian.

She was here on business.

After the fireworks fiasco, Tessa bailed for vacation as soon as things blew up, leaving Cassian to step in and handle all the Ascend Group stuff for her.

So that was why Aurelia showed up at Honoria Capital.

Once the three of them got upstairs, the secretary, Chloe, informed them that Cassian was handling an urgent matter and asked if they could wait for a while.

Aurelia glanced at her watch. She had half an hour to spare, so she nodded in agreement.

Chloe led them to the lounge and promptly served them tea.

The conference room next door went dead silent for a long moment.

Even with the glass between them, Miranda could feel that icy vibe.
