Chapter 92Â
Olivia stood up, ready to head home and grab that bank statement.Â
But when she saw how pale Briana looked, she stopped in her tracks.Â

“Briana, leaving you here alone… that doesn’t feel right,” Olivia said, sitting back down. “Forget it. I’ll just stay here with you.”Â
She didn’t want anything to happen to Briana.Â
Olivia took her hand and realized just how cold it was.Â
Briana’s lashes trembled. “I never imagined Vivian was the one who started that fire. I thinking it was just an accident, a freak disaster. Olivia, my heart aches so much. I feÂ
ive, alwaysÂ
“Shepard only fell for Vivian because she saved his life back then. If he finds out the truth about the fire and sees Vivian’s true colors, how will he react? Will he stop loving her altogether?Â
“And what about him and me? How am I supposed to act around him now? Olivia, tell me. What am I supposed to do…”Â
Briana was shaking all over, her face as pale as paper, her lips completely bloodless.Â
Olivia gently stroked her back, soothing her with each motion. “Briana, calm down. Just take it easy.”Â
The studio was filled with pin–drop silence.Â
All Briana could hear was her own heartbeat, racing wildly at first, then finally beginning to slow down.Â
It took her a few minutes to really wrap her head around this shocking truth.Â
Little by little, her rational mind started to return.Â
“Olivia,” Briana said, meeting her eyes, “if I just go to Shepard with the prison visit records and the bank statements, wouldn’t that be way too reckless?”Â
Olivia answered, “Yeah. They could count as evidence, but they’re not strong enough to hold up. Vivian’s way too cunning. She could twist anything and make it sound like you’re the one at fault.Â
“She might even turn it around and say you’re just trying to sabotage the divorce and frame her. That’d be a real mess.”Â
“I agree. Vivian would never admit it. She’d just find a way to talk her way out of it,” Briana said, biting her bottom lip hard as she tried to think things through.Â
“But why would she visit the prison for no reason? And why would she send money to the room manager? Something’s definitely off here,” she continued.Â
Olivia replied, “Let’s just lay low for now and keep digging into Vivian. If we make a move too soon, we’ll tipÂ

her off, and she’ll just go deeper underground. It’ll be even harder to get any real evidence.”Â
Briana nodded her agreement. “Alright. I’ll do what you say.”Â

“I’ll keep watching Vivian. Sooner or later, we’ll get our hands on some solid proof. When that day comes…. we’ll throw it right in her face and crush her with the truth, Olivia added.Â
Briana agreed. “Alright.”Â
“I’ll bring you the bank statements tomorrow, and I’ll figure out how to snap some pics of the prison visit records. That’s the easy part. The real problem is…” Olivia paused.Â
“Briana, what are you gonna do about you and Shepard?” she asked hesitantly.Â
Briana said nothing, her head bowed, her hair falling forward to hide her profile.Â
Olivia continued, “You two were childhood sweethearts, already engaged, totally in l between you and broke you up.Â
Vivian cameÂ
“If Shepard finds out the truth and comes back asking you to forgive him, would you… could you forgive him?”Â
Silence fell again.Â
After a long moment, Briana finally whispered, “I’m not investigating Vivian just to watch Shepard regret everything, nor do I want him begging me to forgive him either. I just want the truth. I want justice.”Â
“But you know Shepard–he’s definitely going to feel guilty and blame himself,” Olivia said.Â
“That’s on him,” Briana said. “I’ve let it all go. I don’t love him anymore.”Â
Olivia let out a sigh.Â
The lights in the studio stayed on all night, burning bright until dawn.Â
Briana ended up crashing in the studio.Â
She kept drifting in and out of sleep, never really getting any rest.Â
She tossed and turned, unable to find any peace.Â
Sometimes she’d dream about all the little moments she and Shepard had when they were head over heels for each other.Â
Other times, she’d dream about how Shepard would ignore her after they got married, acting like she didn’tÂ
even exist.Â
When she finally woke up for good, her migraine flared up again.Â
It felt like someone had tightened a steel band around her head, squeezing her temples with every throb.Â

Briana sat up and stared at the painting on her casel.Â
It was only about a third done.Â

She was lost in thought, staring at her half–finished painting, when Leonard wandered past the studio door with his hands behind his back.Â
Soon enough, he turned his head and noticed Briana.Â
“Oh, you’re here,” Leonard said, grinning. “Didn’t go home last night? Been painting?”Â
Briana quickly stood up. “Yeah, Mr. Dean. It’s quiet at night, so I get more inspiration. But I only managed a bit, so I won’t show it off just yet.”Â
Leonard lingered at the doorway, sneaking a few glances at her work. “Take your time. choices are pretty original, really creative.”Â
She grinned. “Mr. Dean, I know I’m your last student, but you don’t have to lay it on so thick.”Â
‘There’s barely anything on the canvas yet–how can you even tell?‘ her inner voice said.Â

“You’ve got real talent, and I really believe in you,” Leonard said. “I’m not just flattering you. I always speak my mind. Keep painting, Briana.”Â
“Yeah, I’ll keep working hard,” Briana replied.Â
Leonard wandered off, looking as laid–back as ever.Â
He had barely stepped out when Olivia came rushing in.Â
She was frantic, her face twisted with anxiety.Â
Olivia burst through the door with a miserable look on her face. “It’s over, Briana. I’m so sorry.”Â
“What happened?” Briana felt a jolt of anxiety. “Did Vivian find out?”Â
“You’re half right!” Olivia replied.Â
“What do you mean?” Briana asked, her voice shaking.Â
Olivia said through gritted teeth, “Last night, I got home, washed up, and crashed right away. I figured I’d grab the copy of the bank statement in the morning, but when I checked, it was gone.Â
“I asked around, and it turns out the maid thought it was just some random paper and tossed it out with the garbage. It’s gone for good.”Â
“It’s fine, really,” Briana said, trying to reassure her. “We can just print out another copy.”Â
“That’s what I thought too! But…” Olivia blurted out, her voice trembling. “I can’t find them anywhere. It’s like those transfer records vanished into thin air–there’s nothing there.Â

“And when I went to the prison, the visit records were wiped out too. There’s absolutely nothing leftÂ
Briana’s body jolted hard, shaken to the core.Â
That was the only real evidence they’d managed to get their hands on.Â
Now it was all gone, vanishing without a trace.Â
They were right back where they started.Â
“Vivian moves that fast?” Briana muttered to herself. “You’d only just started snooping around, and you were being so sneaky, but she still caught on and erased everything–like it never even existed.”Â
Olivia got more and more pissed off the more she thought about it. “Seriously, I total got way too careless.Â

“Someone who could set a fire and then charge right into the blaze without a second thought. She’s capable of literally anything… Crap, I totally screwed up!”Â
Olivia kept stomping her feet, evidently worked up.Â
Briana frowned, her brows knitting in frustration.Â
But she could only try to reassure Olivia. “Forget it, it’s gone. We’ll just have to figure out another way. Honestly, just uncovering the truth about that fire was already amazing, Olivia.Â
“If it weren’t for you, I would’ve never found out how vicious Vivian really is.”Â
“Yeah. Guess that’s all we can do,” Olivia sighed. “But Briana, this just shows Vivian must have something to doÂ
with that fire! If she had nothing to hide, why would she be so quick to erase every trace?”Â
