Having a spiritual space was just too convenient. With a simple wave of her hand, she could stash everything away, even the shelves.Â
In just five seconds, the formula shop was wiped clean.Â
There were another four or five formula shops nearby, and she cleared them out the same way, sweeping everything into her spiritual space.Â
She didn’t stop there. She emptied home goods stores and pharmacies, taking anything she possible, she would have taken the floor tiles right out of the ground.Â

The place was crawling with zombies, but they were all low–level. She didn’t run into any mutated plants or animals, so moving through the area was a breeze.Â
Mindy’s anxious voice crackled through the walkie–talkie. “Captain, it’s getting dark. Why aren’t you guys back yet?”Â
Chloe replied, “How’s it going on your end?”Â
“The survivors on the second floor have finally learned their lesson. They’re too scared to come down. And I noticed there are way fewer zombies outside,” Mindy said.Â
Chloe nodded. “Good. We’ve gone pretty far, so we won’t be back tonight. We’ll head back tomorrow evening.”Â
“Got it, boss,” Mindy replied.Â
After that quick chat, the three of them came across another five–star hotel.Â
Just as they were about to head inside, Chloe’s eyes narrowed.Â
A white bedsheet was hanging from the hotel’s fourth floor, with a single word written in what looked like blood: “Taken.”Â
Chloe stopped immediately. “Let’s go,” she said. “We’ll find somewhere else.”Â
Emily frowned, confused. “Wouldn’t it be safer if there were other people here?”Â
Chloe shook her head. “Emily, anyone who’s made it this far isn’t someone you can take lightly.”Â
She paused, and then added, “People are the real mystery.”Â
Wherever there are people, there’s a battlefield. Chloe would rather go toe–to–toe with zombies than get tangled up in other survivors‘ mind games.Â
The three of them walked away.Â
Up on the fourth floor, a man with a cigarette hanging from his lips watched the three figures walk away through his binoculars, his gaze dark and sinister.Â

“Boss, want me to go down and chop up those three bitches?” one of his men asked.Â
The man spat out his cigarette and replied coldly, “Don’t get impulsive. These women aren’t simple.”Â

The burly guy next to him sneered, “It’s just two girls and a kid. Boss, just say the word and I’ll go tie them up. myself.”Â
“Yeah, let the boys mess around with them for a few days. When we’re done, we can slaughter them and eat them,” another man added with a cruel glint in his eyes.Â
His brutish face twisted with cruelty.Â
The boss shot his men a cold look. “In this frozen, zombie–infested city, who do you thi wander the streets? Would you?”Â
At that, the two men froze, not daring to say another word.Â

Night fell fast, and within minutes, it was so dark you couldn’t see a thing. Good thing they found another hotel just in time.Â
There weren’t many zombies inside, so they took care of them in a flash.Â
The three of them settled onto the bed in a luxurious presidential suite and started unpacking their haul from the day.Â
“Chloe, I’ve already got a whole backpack stuffed with zombie cores,” Molly said, her eyes shining with excitement.Â
Emily, looking smug, pulled out her canvas bag, unzipped it, and revealed it was packed to the brim with zombie cores.Â
She even had some second–level ones in there.Â
Chloe grinned. “I’ve got plenty myself.”Â
With a casual wave of her hand, a huge pile of zombie cores clattered onto the floor. Most were level two, with a handful of level three mixed in.Â
Chloe kept the third–level cores for herself and fed the rest to her spiritual space, that gluttonous beast.Â
Bit by bit, she was sure her spiritual space would level up one day.Â
“Come on, that’s not cool! I thought I had loads, but you totally crushed me!” Emily grumbled, feeling a bitÂ
put out.Â
“What can I say? I’m the MVP here,” Chloe said with a cheeky grin.Â
All night, the world–shaking howls of zombies raged outside, but the girls still managed to fall asleep.Â

At first light, the daily grind began again: searching for supplies and killing zombies.Â

Chloe’s squad was hustling non–stop, while the powered human teams outside were losing their minds, desperately trying to figure out how to get into Riverside.Â
They had no idea that inside the city they couldn’t breach, an elite team of powered humans was already stripping it clean.Â
By nightfall, Chloe, Emily and Molly returned loaded down with loot, their faces lit up with excitement and satisfaction.Â
Emily and Molly, especially, were practically swaggering with newfound confidence.Â
“Frank, how’s the base vehicle upgrade coming along?” Emily asked.Â
Frank flashed Emily a cocky grin. “Put it this way: it can easily hold off attacks from second–level zombies.Â
“And it’ll withstand several fierce assaults, no problem.”Â
Chloe eyed the RV, which looked unchanged on the outside but now gave off a chilly, tough vibe. She was more than satisfied.Â
Molly dove into Frank’s arms, her eyes twinkling with happiness.Â
“Dad, we scored big today! We found loads of formula for my little brother!” she chirped.Â
Frank glanced at Chloe with deep gratitude, feeling his determination grow even stronger.Â
Mindy came over, beaming with pride. “I finally managed to control the mutant willow branches!”Â
It was a good day. Everyone gained something, and even Joan was looking much better now.Â
But the little baby still spent all day eating and sleeping, and looked so fragile.Â
Mindy came over to Chloe. “Boss, something big went down on the second floor today.”Â
“Oh?” Chloe replied, raising an eyebrow.Â
“It was a total mess up there. Peyton got hurt, and all the supplies that were supposed to be handed out got snatched in a mad scramble. Some folks even got trampled to death,” Mindy said.Â
Chloe listened to the second–floor drama, but she didn’t bat an eye.Â
In the apocalypse, there was no way she could look out for everyone.Â
‘Even if I feed them once, what about the next meal‘ Chloe thought coldly.Â
“Alright, everyone, get ready. We’re leaving from the north tomorrow,” Chloe said.Â
Joan had been resting in bed, and Chloe made sure Liana cooked up nourishing meals for her recovery.Â

So, everyone joined in and ate the same nourishing meals.Â
Liana’s cooking was honestly way tastier than anything Emily ever made.Â

With mouthwatering fish stew, beef stew, and grilled steak, it was next–level good. Even Molly was starting to fill out a bit.Â
Early the next morning, everyone gathered up the stuff they’d left outside and loaded it all i vehicle.Â
They split into two teams: Frank and Mindy took the driver’s and passenger’s seats.Â
They were the strongest after Chloe, so it made sense to pair them up.Â
Chloe and Emily were on the other team.Â

This way, the two teams could switch off driving duties. Even if zombies attacked, they’d be ready to defend and fight back without missing a beat.Â
Right then, a barrage of gunfire rang out nonstop outside.Â
Frank froze, his hands stopping mid–motion.Â
Everyone piled out of the RV, scanning the area.Â
“What’s going on?” Emily asked.Â
Suddenly, a voice boomed over a loudspeaker outside.Â
“Hey! We’re the military from the base! Any survivors nearby? You’ve got twenty minutes to get over here. We’ll evacuate you!”Â
Everyone looked at each other, not sure what to think.Â
After dealing with a similar gang before, nobody was ready to trust the military just yet.Â
Emily reached out with her spirit power and scanned the area outside.Â
“Chloe, they really do look like the real deal–military uniforms, military vehicles, the whole nine yards,” Emily reported. “Should we go with them?” Emily asked.Â
Chloe hesitated for a moment, then said, “Let’s just watch for now.”Â
On the second floor, the survivors were fighting over supplies when the voice from downstairs suddenly made the whole place erupt into chaos.Â
