Chapter 92 Intense–Nova Tore Off the Mask!Â
The call went unanswered.Â
Nova bit her lip, a mix of grievance and anger boiling inside her. Her heart grew colder by the second.Â
A sudden thought made her panic. She quickly dialed her grandmother’s number–but after several rings, no one picked up.Â
Nova’s hands shook. Her grandmother had a weak heart. If she saw the news…Â
Desperate tears rolled down her cheeks.Â
Just then, Matt pushed open the door. “Ms. Hale, are you almost done?” His tone made it clear he was growing impatient.Â
Nova hastily wiped her tears. “Almost. Give me a minute.”Â
She clung to one last hope and called Kael again.Â
This time, he answered.Â
His voice was panicked. “Nova, the news online isn’t true. Don’t believe it. Where are you? I’ll come find you-”Â
Nova closed her eyes, pained. He’s still lying.Â
But she didn’t have time to argue. She needed to sign the contract first, then settle things with him once and for all.Â
She took a deep breath, forcing calm into her voice. “Kael, I don’t care where you are. Get to the nursing home right now–my grandmother might see the news. I need ten more minutes here. I’ll meet you there as soon as I’m done.”Â
Her voice cracked at the end.Â
Kael heard her desperation. “Okay, I’m on my way. Don’t worry.”Â
“Hurry!” she urged, then hung up.Â
Nova took a minute to compose herself, then rushed back to the private room.Â
She forced a smile. “Sorry for the delay, Mr. Vega. Let’s sign the contract now.”Â
Matt still wore his polite smile. He handed her a glass of wine. “The terms you proposed are quite reasonable.”Â
Nova didn’t want to drink, but she couldn’t refuse–not with work on the line. She took the glass. “I’m glad you’re satisfied.”Â
Matt laughed, his eyes scanning her up and down. “I heard you and Mr. Vos’s aren’t getting along. Have you thought about finding a new boyfriend?”Â
Nova’s smile froze. “What do you mean, Mr. Vega?”Â
Matt raised an eyebrow. “Exactly what you think.”Â
He stepped closer, his gaze lingering on her face. “Guess why Kael asked me to come today?”Â
Bang!Â
Nova’s eyes widened. It felt like someone had stabbed her heart. Before she could react, Matt was right in front of her. “You’re a smart woman, Ms. Hale. Come with me, and I’ll give you everything you want.”Â
He reached out to touch her cheek–soft, just as he’d imagined.Â

mind wasÂ
Nova felt a wave of disgust. She slapped his hand away, grabbed her bag, and headed for the door. Her mind was reeling, but she knew she had toÂ
escape.Â
A bitter laugh escaped her.Â
So this was why Kael had sent Matt–not to help her, but to pimp her out. She’d been stupid to think he’d wanted to save her dignity.Â
Matt was used to being fawned over. He’d never been rejected so coldly. His face darkened, he chased after her, grabbed her arm, and pulled her intoÂ
his arms.Â
“Ah!” Nova paled. She struggled frantically, hitting him as hard as she could. “Let go of me! There are security guards downstairs!”Â
Even as she said it, she knew it was useless.Â
Men like Matt–part of the elite–could crush her like an ant. And with Kael “backing” him, she stood no chance.Â
She was trapped, like meat on a chopping block.Â
Tears blurred her vision. She mustered all her strength and kicked Matt in the stomach.Â
“Get off me!”Â
Matt grunted in pain, staggering back against the table. He cursed under his breath.Â
Nova took the chance to run. As she rushed down the corridor, she saw a group of bodyguards ahead. Hope flared–she opened her mouth to shout forÂ
help.Â
But before she could make a sound, a hand clamped over her mouth.Â
“Shut up.” Matt’s voice was malicious in her ear. The fake politeness was gone, replaced by ugly greed. “You don’t want this getting out, do you? Imagine the scandal–Ms. Hale of Voss Group seducing her business partner.”Â
Twisting the truth. Disgusting!Â
Nova shook her head, tears streaming down her face.Â
But she was no match for a man’s strength.Â
Then, through her blurry vision, she saw a familiar figure in the center of the bodyguards.Â
It was Kael!Â
She’d recognize his back anywhere.Â
Why is he here? She’d told him to go to the nursing home.Â
Her mind racing, he managed to wrench free of Matt’s hand, ready to call out to Kael–but Sloane’s sudden appearance dealt her a crushing blow.Â
Seeing Kael, Sloane ran toward him like an excited bird, throwing herself into his arms. “Kael! You’re finally here! I’ve been waiting so long…”Â
Kael took her hand and hurried her into a private room. The door slammed shut–shattering Nova’s already broken heart.Â
Thoughts flooded her mind.Â
He’d promised to go to her grandmother. Instead, he was here, being affectionate with Sloane.Â
He’d given her a contract–only to hand her over to Matt.Â
Her temples throbbed. The pain in her chest was unbearable.Â

Matt scoffed. He removed his hand from her mouth, his voice dripping with cruelty. “Stop dreaming. Kael doesn’t care about you.Â
“He didn’t even lift a finger when Josh harassed you, did he? Even when Josh died, it wasn’t Kael who did it.”Â
Nova froze.Â
“You want to know why?” Matt sneered. “He couldn’t afford to break ties with the Cohen family.”Â
It was like a sledgehammer to her skull. Josh’s death hadn’t been Kael’s doing–he’d lied to her. To him, her safety meant nothing compared to the company’s interests. And she’d stayed here, fighting for Voss Group’s profits like a fool.Â
She wanted to cry, to disdain herself for being so naive.Â
Matt smiled. “Wake up. Men are realistic. Women come and go–profits are forever.Â
“I don’t like forcing people, Ms. Hale. Cooperate, and I’ll sign the contract. Refuse…” He nodded toward the closed door. “You saw Kael go in with Sloane. What do you think they’re doing right now?”Â
His taunts stabbed at her. Nova shook her head, tears soaking her face. Her heart felt numb, yet the pain was still sharp.Â
Kael and Sloane must be happy together, while I’m here, humiliated, insulted, and trapped.Â
She trembled, cold sweat soaking her back.Â
Matt noticed she’d stopped struggling. He smiled in satisfaction, loosening his grip to lift her into his arms.Â
But before he could, a powerful kick sent him crashing to the ground.Â
“Ah!” He writhed in pain, looking up angrily–only to freeze when he saw the man standing over him.Â
“M–Mr. Thorne…”Â
Corin glanced at Nova, who lay on the ground, weak and disheveled. His heart twisted.Â
He clenched his jaw, his eyes icy. He kicked Matt hard.Â
“You like preying on women?”Â
He grabbed Matt’s collar and punched him in the face.Â
“You like abusing your power?”Â
“Mr. Thorne, let me explain-” Matt begged, blood dripping from his nose.Â
Corin slammed Matt’s head against the wall. Blood splattered. “Then let’s see how you like being ‘preyed on“.”Â
Matt’s body shook. He’d never seen Corin so furious.Â
Corin stood up, pulling out a handkerchief to wipe his hands. He looked down at Matt like he was garbage. “Jaxs!”Â
Jaxs rushed over.Â
“Throw him into that gay bar. Don’t stop until he’s on the brink of death.”Â
He tossed the handkerchief aside in disgust, then strode toward Nova.Â
