Chapter 104 The Scandal Explodes! Kael Panics! 

Nova felt humiliated by Derek’s words. 

She looked at Kael–he’d been walking toward her so determinedly, but now he’d stopped, like he was torn between choosing her and saving hin 

company. 

Luminarise Tech was Voss Group’s lifeline. Losing them would be a disaster. 

Nova let out a bitter laugh. Her heart ached, but she wasn’t surprised. She’d seen this coming. 

A reporter frowned and asked, “Mr. Voss, you just said we’re spreading lies and threatened to sue us. So is the divorce rumor fake? Are you still with Nova?” 

Sloane smiled softly. “The truth speaks for itself.” 

Her vague answer was enough–reporters immediately assumed she was too modest to admit the truth. 

Derek chimed in, “Mr. Voss wasn’t defending Nova. He was upset because you were being too harsh on Sloane. He cares about her–that’s obvious.” 

The reporters gasped. “Wow, Mr. Voss is so sweet to Ms. Reed! I’m shipping them!” 

Sloane blushed, playing the part of the smitten girlfriend perfectly. 

But Nova’s face drained of color in an instant… 

Derek chuckled and clapped Kael on the shoulder. “Mr. Voss, the press conference is about to start–don’t hold us up. Let’s head over.” 

In that split second, Nova’s face turned as pale as a sheet. 

If Kael abandoned her now, she’d be branded a homewrecker forever. She’d never be able to escape the hate. 

But Kael stayed silent. His face was dark, like he was agreeing with Derek and Sloane. 

Sloane’s smile widened. 

Kael was hers now. Nova would be left with nothing but shame. 

She took Kael’s hand, her voice gentle. “Let’s go…” 

The reporters jeered at Nova. “There’s no need to explain anymore! Nova is the one to blame!” 

“Get her out of here!” 

Nova’s smile was bitter, tears unconsciously welling up in her eyes. 

As she watched Kael turn a blind eye to her, a memory washed over her–as if time had folded back, and she could see the young boy he’d been years ago, choosing her without hesitation. 

She remembered his gentle voice, clear as day. “Nova, don’t wrong yourself. And never forgive the 26–year–old me…” 

She wiped her tears, her lips trembling. 

In that moment, she felt eerily calm. 

She’d wanted to keep things civil, but Kael and Sloane had left her no choice.

Being kind to them was just being cruel to herself 

She clenched her fists, ready to speak up–1 have something to expose–but before she could finish, a loud slap echoed through the crowd. 

Kael shook off Sloane’s hand and backhanded her across the face. 

Sloane stumbled back, her hand flying to her cheek. She stared at Kael, shocked and humiliated. “Kael… what did you do? 

Kael’s face was furious. He pointed at her, his voice cold. “I never hit women. But you? You’re not a woman–you’re a shameless liar who’s been tormenting my wife. You deserve every bit of this.” 

The crowd froze. Then, cameras started flashing wildly. 

Nova stared at Kael, stunned, then she let out a bitter laugh. 

Sloane’s cheeks burned. She tried to regain her composure, her voice shaky. “Kael… Mr. Lawrence is still here. You can’t-” 

Derek’s face darkened. He stepped forward, his tone sharp. “Mr. Voss, is Nova really worth it? She’ll destroy your company! If you explain now, I’ll let Luminarise Tech keep investing.” 

It was a threat. Lose Nova, or lose everything. 

Sloane held onto hope. Kael loved his company more than anyone. She walked up to him, her voice quiet. “Kael, the company matters more. I can help you fix this– 

Nova watched, her heart sinking. She knew Kael’s true nature better than anyone–affection, sincerity, all of it was just a passing cloud to him. Nothing mattered more than profit. 

Her pale lips parted, and she was just about to say something. 

But Kael stepped back, disgust in his eyes. “Save your lies for the press conference. You’ll need to explain this little stunt to everyone.” He walked toward Nova, ignoring Sloane’s ashen face. 

He took her hand, his gaze earnest. “Nova, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know Sloane would post that video. I was looking for her to stop her–please, don’t misunderstand.” 

Nova stared at him. If she hadn’t seen how he’d hesitated earlier, she might have believed him. She pulled her hand away, her voice cold. “Is that 

true?” 

Derek stormed over, his face red with anger. “Mr. Voss, I thought you were smart. But you’re throwing everything away for a woman who’ll ruin you! Our partnership is over.” 

Nova tensed. This was it–Kael would choose Luminarise Tech. But then, Kael put his arm around her shoulders, his touch warm and steady. 

He looked at Derek, his tone calm but firm. “Mr. Lawrence, partnering with someone who abandons their principles at the first sign of trouble is the worst mistake Voss Group could make. My wife is innocent. She’s honest, and she’s kind–unlike certain cowards who resort to underhanded tricks that wouldn’t stand the light of day!” 

Sloane’s face turned white. She couldn’t believe Kael was choosing Nova over his company. 

Nova stared at Kael, shocked. He was actually defending her–publicly, in front of everyone. 

Had he really changed? Or was this just another trick? 

She scoffed. 

Derek was furious. He was used to being fawned over by everyone–never had he endured such blatant mockery. 

“We’ll see how long your company lasts!” He stormed off.

Kael held his ground, neither deferential nor overbearing. “Fine–then you’d better keep your eyes open, Mr. Lawrence! We’ll see if it’s my wife who’s being petty… or if someone’s got a heart as venomous as a snake`s!” 

With that, he took Nova’s hand and strode toward the press conference hall. 

Nova tried to pull away, but his grip was ironclad–she couldn’t break free no matter how hard she tried. 

Behind them, Sloane stood frozen. Her makeup couldn’t hide how pale she was. Kael had chosen Nova–he’d given up Luminarise Tech, and he’d humiliated her. She was ruined. 

Unless… 

She pulled out her phone, her hands shaking, and dialed a number, her voice hoarse. “I need you to do something. Take the videos I sent you and play them on the big screen at the press conference. On loop.” 

The videos were from the past four months–kisses, hand–holding, nights together. She hadn’t wanted to use them, but Kael had left her no choice. 

If she was going down, he was going down with her. 

“Got it,” the voice on the other end said. 

Sloane hung up, taking a deep breath. She walked toward the venue, her steps heavy.
