<Don’t Say You Love MeÂ
Chapter 25 AbsurdÂ
Lucky DrawÂ
It was truly absurd. She had to ask another woman to convince her daughter to go visit her parents.Â
At one point, Emily even thought that she might as well just give up on such a child.Â
But then, remembering her parents‘ repeated and earnest pleas, she stopped in her tracks. Emily clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug deep into her palms.Â
Just a few seconds later, she turned around and said to Ethan, “I drove here. I’ll follow your car.”Â
Ethan saw the redness in her eyes, a sign she was on the verge of tears, yet he didn’t offer any concern. He just replied casually, “Alright.”Â
Nancy also looked at Emily and finally spoke up, “Ms. Carter, don’t worry. Once we get to the kindergarten, I’ll do my best to talk to Sophie. She’s a well–behaved girl.”Â
Emily knew there was a double meaning in Nancy’s words, but she couldn’t afford to lose her temper at this 1/6 moment.Â

Nancy’s seatbelt and then closed the door for her. It was as if this once–aloof man had finally been smitten.Â
It seemed only Nancy could make him so eager to do these little things.Â
Emily sat there in her car, not starting the engine. Leaning back on the seat, she stared out of the window at the street. Everything was a blur in her teary eyes.Â
Her heart ached terribly. It was the pain of seeing Ethan’s affection for Nancy and her daughter choosing Nancy over her.Â
She’d never done anything wrong to them, yet this was how they treated her.Â
Emily was lost in this sea of pain until the phone rang, which snapped her back to reality.Â
Looking down, she saw it was Ethan calling.Â
She answered with a husky voice, “What’s going on?”Â
“Aren’t you following us yet?” Ethan asked.Â

By the time they reached the kindergarten, the teachers. had already brought the kids to the school gate to wait for their parents.Â
Sophia was standing at the front of the junior–class line. When she saw Nancy, her eyes sparkled with excitement, but soon, a look of sadness and disappointment cloudedÂ
her face.Â
Emily immediately sensed something was off with her daughter and felt a sharp twinge of worry. Unable to contain herself, she called out, “Sophie.”Â
As a mother, she was worried that her daughter might have had a tough time at school.Â
Sophia looked in the direction of the voice. As she saw Emily, she was about to wave happily, but then the anger she’d been holding onto flared up again.Â
It was because her mom didn’t take her to school that she was late and missed out on the little gold star.Â
Sophia ignored her, and the smile on Emily’s face 16:21Â

For days, Emily hadn’t made any effort to mend the rift with Sophia.Â
She knew Sophia had her own mind and wanted to be close to Nancy, so she didn’t interfere.Â
If Emily hadn’t noticed her daughter’s distress, she wouldn’t have called out.Â
But her attempt to reach out was met with cold shoulders. How could it not break her heart?Â
Since Sophia was born, Emily had always envisioned being a part of every step of her daughter’s life.Â
But now, as her daughter was in school, this was her first visit to the kindergarten.Â
The teacher spotted Nancy and greeted her with a big smile, “Mrs. Wilson.”Â
However, Nancy didn’t correct the teacher. She just smiled back and waved at Sophia, saying, “Sophie, comeÂ
here.”Â

school tomorrow? I don’t wanna go to my great–grandpa’sÂ
anymore.”Â
Nancy hugged her tightly and stroked her back gently. Even though she had no clue what had happened, she soothed her in a soft voice. “Sure, sweetie. From now on, I will take you to school. Stop crying, okay?”Â
Sophia was much comforted, yet her shoulders still heaved with sobs.Â
Just then, Ethan stepped over. He bent down and gently patted Nancy on the shoulder, whispering a reminder. “Tell her.”Â
Nancy glanced at Ethan and offered a soft smile. “Okay, got it.”Â
After that, she took Sophia’s hand. “Sophie, can I talk to you about something?”Â
All this while, Emily stood nearby, watching the interaction between her daughter and Nancy closely.Â
Sophia nodded, sniffling. “Yeah.”Â

your grandparents. Will you go?”Â

Hearing this, Sophia instinctively glanced at Emily, who stood a few fest away in plain clothes, looking rather unassumingÂ
When Emily called out to her earlier. Sophia had actually felt a twinge of joy.Â
But then she remembered being late for school because of her mom that morning, and her mood socredÂ
Without much thought, she flat–out refused. “Nancy, I don’t wanna go. I wanna go home and take a bath.”Â
She felt so dirty since she hadn’t bathed the night before.Â
It was an expected answer, but Nancy still coaxed patiently. “Sophie, just stay with your mom for one night. okay? On the weekend, your dad and I will take you out to play. How about that?”Â
