As the host finished speaking, the audience erupted into thunderous applause, inviting the organizer of the conference to take the stage. 

Aurelia stepped up to the podium, all eyes on her. 

Tessa’s hopeful expression froze instantly, her face filled with disbelief. 

Nearby, Jasper sucked in a sharp breath. 

Jasper instinctively pawed at Liam next to him. “Am I seeing things or what?” 

Liam shot him a look of pure annoyance and quickly brushed Jasper’s hand away, not wanting his suit to get wrinkled. 

After all, he hadn’t even met Aurelia face to face yet, so he gotta keep his image sharp. 

But Jasper, totally clueless, kept pawing at him even after being pushed away. “I must be hallucinating! How is Aurelia up there?” 

Seeing her at the conference didn’t surprise him at all. 

But seeing her up there as the organizer, giving the opening speech? That was just mind–blowing. 

The rest of the crowd was buzzing with whispers. 

Kyler frowned at Wade. “Is there some kind of mistake? Her? The organizer?” 

Wade was so focused on Aurelia that he didn’t even hear Kyler’s question. 

When Kyler didn’t get an answer and turned to look at him, he saw nothing but undisguised admiration in Wade’s eyes. 

No one in the room was more shocked than Tessa. 

She actually found herself clapping for Aurelia. 

The faint sting in her palms was like an invisible slap in front of everyone. She hadn’t seen it coming at all. 

Aurelia was cool and collected, not showing a hint of nerves, even though it was her first time running a show this big. 

With all the chatter in the room, she didn’t rush or falter, her voice steady and clear. “Good morning, esteemed guests, partners, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Aurelia Corin, the acting organizer of this conference…” 

“Turns out she’s the acting organizer, someone realized. 

But even that was enough to leave everyone stunned.

Tessa caught on instantly, her face going pale as the realization hit her. 

The more Benjamin favored Aurelia, the more it confirmed all those rumors swirling outside. 

Benjamin just wouldn’t acknowledge her, no matter what she did. 

Even though everyone’s attention was on Aurelia, Tessa couldn’t shake the feeling that they were all laughing at her behind her back. 

Every glance in her direction made her squirm. 

After all, Benjamin would rather back an outsider than give her the time of day. 

And to make things worse, Liam and Jasper were right next to her, caught up in a lively discussion about Aurelia. 

Liam said, “See that? Aurelia’s not here as anyone’s plus–one. She’s the organizer! That means she has the final say on the guest list. If she doesn’t want someone here, just one word from her and they’re out.” 

Jasper nodded, a little impressed. “Yeah, that’s true.” 

Liam’s eyes were dark and intense as he watched Aurelia on stage, his voice full of admiration. “She’s not anyone’s accessory. She’s herself.” 

Meanwhile, Tessa, showing up as nothing more than Cassian’s “plus–one,” felt her face drain of color, a cold shiver running straight through her. 

She wobbled, barely able to stay on her feet. 

It was like something massive was closing in, ready to swallow her whole and leave her gasping for breath. 

“Cassian,” she called out, her voice shaking as if she were lost at sea, reaching for anything to keep her afloat. 

Cassian was the lifeline she clung to. 

So she was reaching out to him for help. 

But right then, Cassian was completely focused on Aurelia up on stage, his refined profile betraying no

So intently that he didn’t even hear her voice. 

Seeing this, Tessa unconsciously clenched her fists and raised her voice. “Cassian, I’m not feeling well. 

Only then did Cassian snap out of it. His eyes were cold at first, but when he met her gaze, they warmed up. “What’s wrong?” 

“I’m not feeling well,” Tessa said. 

“I’ll take you to the hospital,” Cassian said without hesitation. 

Liam called after them, “You’re heading out already? The conference just kicked off.” 

Cassian explained, “Tessa’s not feeling well. I’m taking her to the hospital. Go ahead without us.” 

With that, Cassian didn’t wait for Liam to say another word. He just led Tessa out of the room. 

Standing on stage, Aurelia could see the whole crowd at a glance, easily spotting who stayed and who left. 

But she didn’t dwell on it. After wrapping up her speech, she invited Ryan to come up and speak. 

Since Ryan had a sprained ankle and was having trouble walking, Aurelia personally went over to help him to the stage. 

Wade caught it and frowned at Kyler. “Did Mr. Walker hurt himself?” 

Kyler was totally distracted by Tessa leaving, barely paying attention. “Did he?” he muttered. 

“You didn’t notice he’s walking weird?” Wade pressed. 

With Wade pointing it out, Kyler looked again and saw it and found something was definitely off. 

“No wonder Aurelia’s been glued to Mr. Walker and hasn’t bothered with the other guests. She was just making sure he was okay,” Wade said, the realization hitting him. 

Kyler hesitated for a moment. 

He remembered that when he visited Ryan at the hotel, he’d definitely caught a strong whiff of herbal medicine. 

‘So they were walking side by side when they left the hotel just because Mr. Walker was having trouble getting around? Not for some other reason?‘ Kyler wondered. 

For a split second, Zofia’s words flashed through Kyler’s mind. 

He pursed his lips, his face hardening.

Just then, Ryan took the mic and started speaking. 

He began by thanking Aurelia for inviting him to the conference, and for looking after him. 

It just proved Wade was right. 

Kyler didn’t have time to dwell on it. 

Ryan got straight to the point, bringing up the recent news reports. 

“I know everyone’s curious about which company I’ll end up partnering with,” he said. 

It was true. This was the hottest topic in the tech world lately. 

Kyler was one of the many keeping a close eye on it.

“I wasn’t planning to announce this so soon, but lately, some people have been riding on my name for publicity. To minimize the impact, I’m making this announcement ahead of schedule,” Ryan said. 

He didn’t mention anyone directly, but everyone in the room knew exactly who he meant.

Ryan went on, “After careful consideration, I’ve decided to team up with Regal Investment to co–develop the next generation of high–performance chips!”

For the first time, Kyler really gave Aurelia his full attention.
