Aurelia was busy getting everything lined up for tomorrow.

With graduation season coming up and the company gearing up for recruitment, her plate was seriously full.

Still, she played along with Mia. “What could possibly get you this hyped? Unless you hit the jackpot or that mutt Cassian went bankrupt.”

Mia burst out laughing. “Even juicier than Cassian going broke!”

That got Aurelia hooked. “Spill it already. Don’t keep me hanging.”

“Cassian got cheated on!” Mia cackled.

After she’d had her fill of laughing, Mia finally hung up.

But then she thought, “This is way too good to keep to myself.

She opened WhatsApp, found Cassian’s number in her contacts, and sent him a friend request.

Back when Aurelia was in the hospital, Mia was freaking out and hit up Miranda for Cassian’s number.

But when she tried to call, his phone was off.

After Aurelia and Cassian went their separate ways, Mia thought about deleting his number.

But she kept it, just in case. ‘You never know when something might come up, she thought.

Guess what? Now it’s coming in handy!

Cassian accepted her friend request in a flash, not even bothering to ask who she was.

‘Aren’t CEOs supposed to be hard to add on WhatsApp?‘ Mia thought.

But whatever, it didn’t matter.

As soon as the request went through, Mia sent Cassian a sticker on WhatsApp called “Chill.”

It wasn’t because she was actually chill. She picked it because the character in the sticker was crying, which is internet slang for getting cheated on.

It couldn’t be more fitting.

A moment later, Cassian replied with a question mark.

Mia didn’t bother replying. Instead, she spammed her Instagram with twenty emojis.

Not long after, someone in her contacts as “Arturo the Jerk” dropped a comment.

Mia knew Aurelia was just trying to keep her occupied so she wouldn’t start overthinking things alone.

And since it was their alma mater, Mia was happy to tag along.

As soon as they arrived, they spotted a welcome banner stretched across the school gate.

It read, “Warmly welcome Professor Jonathan William to our university for a visit and exchange!”

Mia said, “Looks like this guy’s a real big shot.”

The school even had the student welcoming committee lined up at the entrance to greet him.

Aurelia wasn’t really focused on all that. She called Stephen and asked if he was coming to Ashmont University for the event today.

“Nope, I go every year. I’m worn out. I’m taking a break this year,” Stephen replied.

Aurelia said, “Makes sense. Get some rest. When I have time, I’ll go with you to see Dr. Butler for some acupuncture and a massage.”

Stephen just hung up without another word.

Meanwhile, Kyler was playing chess with Stephen. Seeing Stephen clearly upset, he couldn’t help but ask, “What’s up?”

“Nothing. Come on, pay attention,” Stephen said with a hint of annoyance. “If you keep zoning out, how are you supposed to win?”

Kyler was totally spaced out, not even caring about the chessboard.

All he could think about was Tessa.

Five minutes later, Tessa texted him, saying Professor Jonathan William was visiting Ashmont University for an exchange and asked if Kyler wanted to drop by and check it out.

Kyler couldn’t sit still anymore. His moves became sloppy, pieces landing all over the place.

Stephen was so annoyed he just tossed the pieces aside. “Forget it, I’m done! Playing with you is just pointless!”

“Sorry, something came up. I’ll make it up to you and play a real game next time,” Kyler said, sounding apologetic.

Stephen didn’t even bother looking at him. He just turned and headed back to his study.

Kyler practically sprinted to Ashmont University, barely catching his breath. He was just about to call Tessa and ask where she was, but then, he spotted her right there in the crowd.

Stuffing his phone back into his pocket, he made a beeline straight for her, heart pounding with excitement.

Graduation season meant recruitment season too, so the school cleared out an open space for all the companies to set up shop and hunt for fresh faces.

Aurelia and Mia had gotten up super early just to snag a prime spot.

And they nailed it. Their booth was front and center, right on the way to the main hall, impossible to miss.

Right now, Aurelia and Mia were busy directing their staff to set up the booth.

The moment Tessa stepped through the gate, her eyes landed right on Aurelia.

Her expression soured in an instant.

When she realized what Aurelia was busy with, she gave a dismissive smirk and quickly followed after Jonathan.

The university president was right beside Jonathan, chatting away with him like old friends.

Once he found out Tessa was Jonathan’s student, he treated her with extra courtesy.

Tessa slipped in a request, “Mr. Alfred Harvey, our company is also planning to recruit new talent. Any chance you could hook us up with a prime spot?”

Alfred agreed right away. “No problem at all. I’ll have someone take care of it.”

“Thank you, Mr. Harvey,” Tessa said with a polite smile. After thanking him, she called Ascend Group’s HR department.

Ascend Group was indeed recruiting at the university today, but they’d arrived late and missed out on the best spots.

Just as they were stressing about it, Tessa called and told them she’d scored them a prime location. She told them to come find her right away.

Then Tessa led her team straight to Aurelia’s booth.

Just as Aurelia and her team finished setting up their booth and were about to start recruiting, Tessa showed up with her crew.

“Sorry to bother you, but this spot was reserved for another company in advance. Could you please move your booth over there? Thanks,” the staff member said.

Mia had just sat down to catch her breath when she heard that, and her temper flared.

“Reserved in advance? For real? So when we were busting our asses setting up, nobody thought to mention it?” Mia snapped.

Aurelia chimed in, “If this spot was actually reserved, shouldn’t there be a sign or something?”

The staff member kept his tone professional. “Sorry, this is the school’s arrangement. Please cooperate.”

“Come on, man…” Mia started to snap, but Aurelia grabbed her arm.

“Don’t blow up. Let me call and see what’s going on,” Aurelia said.

With that, she stepped aside to make the call.

Mia planted herself in front of the booth, refusing to budge. “It’s not your call. Get your boss over here. I want to hear it from them.”

Tessa marched over with her crew and told them, “Set up right here. This spot’s ours. I already cleared it with Mr. Harvey.”

Mia glanced over and thought, ‘Well, if it isn’t Tessa. Figures we’d run into each other like this.

‘Enemies really do love to cross paths,‘ Mia muttered to herself.

Mia was sharp. One look at the situation and she instantly pieced it all together.

‘She could’ve taken the easy road, but nope, she just had to come mess with me. Fine, if she wants trouble, I’ll give her trouble,‘ Mia thought, her eyes narrowing.
