109 Girl’s Night OutÂ
[Music: Alibi By Pabllo Vittar & Yseult] 1Â
The club was buzzing, and it certainly wasn’t like the one Tori and I usually went to. This was a luxury club, and it was packed.Â
Downstairs, bodies moved to the beat, the celling was deep indigo and gold, and several other multiple colored lights flashed around. At the center was a marble bar that glowed from beneath, the shelves filled with liquor shining like gems.Â
I moved my body to the beat, dancing side by side with Tori and Athena. I could feel the beats thumping through my entire body, the floor beneath my heels vibrating.Â
I swayed my hips, my hand sliding down my curve, before flowing up into the air, my eyes glued to the ceiling, and I felt the liberation I needed, whipping my hair back and forth.Â
We danced, danced, danced until I was sweating and my throat was dry, and I needed something to quench it. We walked to the bar to order drinks, where the loud music was dulled.Â
“What was that thing you were doing with your hands?” Tori snorted, and I knew she was gunning for that the entire time.Â
“I should say the same for you.”Â
We laughed.Â
Athena finished three shots at the same time,Â
“Whoa! Remember, we can’t take too much. We’re on our own here,” I reminded, because we had to head back before Nico and Reed noticed we were gone.Â
I was more worried about getting them in trouble, and I can’t afford any mistakes.Â
Athena’s shoot was meant to take hours until midnight, and we should be back there before then.Â
“Don’t worry, a few shots like this won’t get ne drunk. Drink!Â
“No, no… The last thing I wanna be is drunk,” declined quickly, drinking my coke.Â
“You don’t wanna see Cat drunk…” Tori stated before taking a shot, wincing from the burn.Â
“You should probably tune it down, too,” I said, getting off the stool. “Need to use theÂ

restroom, don’t start the dance without me.”Â
“Can’t promise, Athena got some moves there”Â
“You mean besides moving like a snail?” I teased.Â
Athena gasped, placing a hand on her chest, and I laughed, grabbing my purse.Â
“Wait! I’ll go with you!” Tori yelled because the music was coming up too loud.Â
“Stay with Athena, she’s taking shots faster than she’s blinking!” I yell back, disappearing in the sea of bodies.Â
I struggled to navigate my way through all the sweaty moving people.Â
Finally, I made it out, and I no longer had to squeeze through to walk. I adjusted the rim of my dress, letting my eyes sweep the place. I have counted more than twenty security guards.Â
This place was heavily guarded. Whoever owns this club must be super rich or just paranoid. You can’t go through a single place without seeing bulky men in blackÂ
shades.Â
“Excuse me. Where’s the restroom?”Â
The security pointed to his left.Â
“Thanks!” I followed the path, and when I got there, a fucking line greeting me.Â
I spent an hour standing in these heels before I could get through. Maybe we shouldÂ
have come when it isn’t opening day. The crowd was something else.Â
It was Athena’s idea that we attend as a regular because VIP’s drew too muchÂ
attention.Â
After doing my business, I walked to the mirror to fix my makeup when my phone vibrated. I sighed, knowing who it was without checking.Â
Jenna has been sending me texts ever since yesterday.Â
Jenna: I know you probably didn’t find the files. There was no use browsing it in the first place. Ares King knows how to cover his tracks.Â
Jenna: Can we meet again? I will bring more findings to you. You may have acted like a King, but I know you’re not one of them. You don’t know anything about theÂ
underworld, which makes you different.Â
Jenna: Beware of Ares King.Â

That was the last text sent to me. Beware of Him? I don’t get what the point is. I have, in fact, thought about everything she told me that day, but it doesn’t make any sense. Mafia? Really?Â
Sure, I have heard crimes in this city are on a wave, but a crime syndicate? It really destroys the idea that Midnight is a City where your dreams come true.Â
I thought about blocking her number, but I shook my head, opening the message box with Ares as I typed.Â
I didn’t wanna do this, but here we are.Â
Me: How’s your private business going?Â
I hit send, waiting for his quick read, but it never came. I frowned, patient for the next few minutes, but nothing.Â
Even if he doesn’t reply, he always reads my text immediately. Maybe this is another plan to punish me again, as if leaving wasn’t enough.Â
Me: Enjoy your business, Mr. King.Â
I shoved my phone into my purse, my face twisted in a frown, but I fixed my smile and checked myself in the mirror one last time before I walked out.Â
Finding my way back was a problem; I kept missing paths, and even when I got to the security point, I was lost again when I got mixed in with a company of people.Â
My phone buzzed, and I brought it out to see Tori’s text.Â
Tori: Where are you?Â
I was about to type a reply when someone bumped into me.Â
“Sorry!”Â
I growled, crouching to get my phone.Â
“Yuck!” I pulled out a gum that stuck to the screen.Â
“That’s some fine ass!”Â
Smack!Â
I gasped, turning with force to a man smirking as he licked his lips, eyes skimming me up and down in a disgusting way.Â
Oh no, he didn’t!Â
“What do you say, babe? How much for that cunt.”Â

I slapped him. Maybe that will clear his drunk ass.Â
“This cunt is not for sale, asshole!” I walked to leave, but men suddenly blocked me.Â
I heard a chuckle, and before I could process it, the back of his hand collided with myÂ
cheek.Â
