Chapter 104Â
Chloe shot him a nonchalant glance and took the core.Â
“What’s up?” she asked.Â
Evan shook his head vigorously, then nodded just as fiercely. Finally, Renee nudged him aside and spoke up.Â
“Excuse me, are you guys looking for a base?” she asked.Â
“Do you happen to know where any base is?” Chloe asked.Â

Chloe only remembered Bluehaven Base, but it was pretty far from here. If there was any news about other bases, she wouldn’t mind hearing about it.Â
Renee said politely, “At first, I heard on the radio that a few small bases were taking people in, but then the broadcasts stopped. Lately, I got word that there’s a huge place called Bluehaven Base.”Â
Chloe raised an eyebrow, not giving anything away.Â
“So, here’s the thing. We haven’t seen anyone else on the road, and we were hoping we could follow you. Is that alright with you?” Renee asked.Â
Worried Chloe might refuse, she quickly added, “We really won’t cause you any trouble. I’m a space–powered human, and my husband is a strength–powered human. He’s strong in a fightÂ
‘Space–powered?‘ Chloe thought to herself.Â
She arched her brow, intrigued.Â
Space powers were super rare, and there were two types. The first kind could only store supplies.Â
The second type was way more impressive. They could control an area around themselves, as large as their spiritual space. This was called a space lockdown.Â
This ability wasn’t for attacking. Its main purpose was to prevent other powered humans from using their abilities within the controlled area.Â
This ability was seriously scary. It mainly let her back up her team, making sure that within her lockdown zone, no one got out alive.Â
Chloe figured the woman with the soft eyes standing before her was probably the second type.Â
As long as she stuck close to her husband, any powered human ught in her lockdown would be totally powerless.Â
But their abilities were just level one, which meant they were no match for Chloe at all.Â
Renee noticed Chloe’s gaze never left her, like she could see rig through her, no matter how hard she tried to hide, Rence couldn’t help but feel a jolt of surprise,Â
‘She’s definitely a real badass, Renee thought to herself.Â
“What’s your name?” Chloe asked.Â
“I’m Renee, and my husband’s name is Evan,” Renee replied.Â
Chloe paused. “Renee?”Â

Renee nodded vigorously, though she was still a little nervous inside.Â
“Alright, but if you give us any trouble, I won’t hesitate to take you out myself,” Chloe warned.Â
Hearing that, the two of them lit up with joy.Â

Then Renee pulled out a few boxes of pull–apart bread from her spiritual space. “Madam, this is our offering for followingÂ
you.”Â
Emily’s eyes sparkled, and she grabbed the boxes right away. “Nice move.”Â
Chloe was speechless.Â
She was just about to say it wasn’t necessary, but Emily was already on it.Â
‘She’s such a little loot goblin,’ Chloe thought. ‘She wouldn’t let even a single crumb slip by, let alone boxes of bread.’Â
Just then, Frank walked over, his eyes zeroed in on the giant centipede sprawled nearby, and he broke into a wild grin.Â
“Awesome! It’s a metal–powered mutant. Boss, that shell could be turned into some seriously tough armor. And those claws? Perfect for making weapons,” Frank said, practically buzzing with excitement.Â
“You know how to make gear like that?” Chloe asked, surprised.Â
Chloe hadn’t expected Frank to have that kind of know–how.Â
Frank was practically bouncing with excitement, rubbing his hands together as he stared at the centipede lying in a pool of blood. “Of course! Just watch me.”Â
With that, he grabbed his machete, which was so corroded it looked like it was about to fall apart, and headed over.Â
As he passed Evan, he said, “Hey, dummy, you’re an earth and strength–powered human, right? Come help me break down this mutant centipede.”Â
With just the two guys around, all the heavy lifting was obviously their job.Â
Evan froze for a moment, and then hurried over. “Oh, got it! On my way!”Â
But the centipede was absolutely massive. No way they could chop it up in a hurry.Â
Renee hesitated for a moment, then said, “I still have some room left in my spiritual space. Would you trust me to store the centipede in there?”Â
Chloe glanced at her and gave a friendly smile. “How big is your piritual space?”Â
“About a hundred cubic meters. It should be enough to stash the mutant centipede,” Renee replied.Â
A hundred cubic meters? That’s a decent size, but even with all at space, it barely fits one mutant centipede. She must not have much else packed in there, Chloe thought.Â
“Okay,” Chloe said.Â
Renee was over the moon.Â
This meant Chloe was letting them join up. With someone this dass leading the way, they knew they’d be safe from nowÂ
- on.Â
Renee went to stash the mutant centipede. Just a moment ago, the road was totally empty. Now, out of nowhere, all kinds of survivors started popping up.Â

Chapter 104Â
Everyone rushed in, hoping to snatch a piece for themselves.Â
Chloe didn’t bother with them at all, just kept moving forward with Emily right on her heels.Â
“Are you sure there’s a tanker truck up ahead?” Chloe asked.Â
Emily nodded hard. “Positive.”Â

They kept moving, and along the way, they ran into a bunch of vel–one zombies. Chloe and Emily wiped them out instantly.Â
Just then, a mechanical voice echoed from Chloe’s spiritual space. “Ding! Congratulations, Host. The Phantom Zombie has been successfully upgraded. Please accept it.”Â
Chloe suddenly stopped in her tracks.Â
“Boss, what’s up?” Emily asked, turning around with a puzzled look.Â
Then, out of nowhere, a cute little girl just popped up right in front of them.Â
“Wait, is that the zombie you kept in your space?” Emily blurted out.Â
But then she shook her head. ‘No. That Phantom Zombie is hideous. Its face is a mask of frozen, rotting flesh, with those creepy gray–white eyes.Â
‘How could something so monstrous become such an adorable little girl?”Â
“That’s her,” Chloe confirmed, nodding.Â
After the transformation in the spiritual space, the Phantom Zombie now looked completely different, but underneath it all, it was still the same terrifying Phantom Zombie.Â
She was like a mute robot, just waiting for commands.Â
The moment the Phantom Zombie appeared, every zombie and mutant within three hundred feet bolted as if their lives depended on it.Â
“Whoa, that’s insane! With the Phantom Zombie on our team, we could totally rule the world now!” Emily exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.Â
Emily was so hyped her smile nearly wrapped around her head.Â
14r powerhouse, a true boss in the zombie world.Â
Chloe was thrilled too. The Phantom Zombie was nowÂ
With level–two zombies already super rare, the Phantom Zomb was the absolute boss of all zombies.Â
“Phantom Zombie, go grab a level–two zombie for me,” Chloe olered.Â
The Phantom Zombie disappeared in a blink, andÂ
them.Â
iceconds had even passed, she popped right back in front ofÂ
Both Chloe and Emily couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath.Â
“Holy crap, a level–two mutant zombie.Â
spirit–powered! Emily gasped, eyes wide in disbelief.Â
The level–two mutant zombie was held firmly in the Phantom Zmbie’s grip. It was massive, but with its spirit crushed, it wasn’t even trying to resist.Â
Even when it caught the scent of living humans and tried to reach out, its body wouldn’t budge at all.Â

Emily was all hyped up and ready to go, thinking Phantom Zombie would do the dirty work and take out the zombie herself. But what happened next totally caught her off guard.Â
“Holy crap, Phantom Zombie! You almost got me killed!” Emily shouted.Â
Phantom Zombie just let go and dropped the live level–two spir–powered zombie right in front of Emily.Â
Emily barely managed to dodge as the zombie swiped at her.Â
