Evan and Rence didn’t say a word. They just drove their SUV, never rushing or falling behind, quietly tailing the group. 

Frank was totally caught up in figuring out how to use his metal power to upgrade their armor. 

So, Chloe ended up behind the wheel. 

Emily couldn’t help but ask, “Chloe, why did you let those folks tag along?” 

From what Emily knew, Chloe was never the type to be easygoing, and she was all about avoiding hassle. 

“One of them is a space–powered human. They could be useful to us,” Chloe replied. 

Emily looked even more confused. She asked, “But aren’t you someone with space powers, too?” 

Chloe smiled and explained, “Every ability can be used in all sorts of ways. 

“I can only use my space power to store supplies. But Renee’s, even though her space isn’t that big, she can actually use it to attack.” 

Emily was completely baffled. She asked, “How can space powers be used to attack?” 

Chloe explained, “Let me put it this way: Renee’s spiritual space covers roughly 3,500 cubic feet. In a fight, she can control that whole area around herself, rendering any powered humans inside it powerless. 

“If the gap in power is too huge, though, it won’t have any effect. 

“Or take plant powers, for example. Mine are focused on healing while Mindy’s are all about attacking. Most people with plant powers just help plants grow.” 

Emily was stunned. She never imagined one power could have so many different forms. 

“I get it now,” Emily said. 

The road was rough and uneven, with ice and snow frozen solid. Still, the refitted base truck cruised along smoothly, never faltering. 

Evan and Renee’s SUV wasn’t nearly as fortunate. It jolted and slipped across the icy road, barely managing to keep up, though every second felt like a potential crash. 

Emily didn’t say another word. Instead, she focused, using her sprit–powered abilities to check out everything around them. 

Just then, Chloe heard the system’s voice ring out in her spiritual space. 

The System asked, “Host, would you like to convert your mutagenic herb into mutagenic liquid?” 

Suddenly, the base truck screeched to a halt. 

The SUV behind them barely managed to stop just a foot and a half behind the base truck after skidding for dozens of yards 

on the ice. 

Evan wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his heart still pouling. 

“What happened up ahead?” Renee asked, holding her daughter lose as she leaned forward to look out the window. 

Seeing no zombies around, she finally relaxed and closed her eys to sleep.

She needed to get enough rest so she could take over driving for Evan later. 

Chloe was buzzing with excitement as she communicated with e Spiritual Space System.

She asked, “Wait, are you saying you can convert even more of the mutagenic herb into mutagenic liquid? And it’s the purified stuff?” 

The System replied, “Right now, I can only purify two doses of mutagenic liquid. Do you want to go ahead, Host?” 

Chloe did her best to keep her excitement from showing, forcing herself to stay calm even though she was practically bursting inside. 

She said, “Go ahead.” 

Mutagenic herbs and mutant flowers were treasures nurtured by nature itself. They were super rare and valuable in the apocalypse. 

Normally, once they ripened, they’d start wilting almost the moment one picked them. Good thing Chloe had her spiritual space, or there was no way she could’ve kept them around this long. 

“What do I need to trade for it?” Chloe asked. 

The System answered in its usual robotic tone, “Space power.” 

Chloe was totally stumped. She asked, “What the heck is space power?” 

The System explained, “Space power is the strength of your spiritual space. It comes from the energy you provide.” 

Chloe mulled it over. She said, “So, if my spiritual space needs ten points to level up, and I only have three right now, I can use cores or energy stones to increase my points. 

“But if I want to exchange for something, I’ll have to spend some which means I might end up with just two points left?” 

The System replied, “Affirmative. Would you like to proceed with the exchange, Host?” 

“Yes,” Chloe answered instantly. 

There were still three ordinary people in the group, and Chloe wanted to help them all become powered humans. 

As for Linda and her kids, Chloe remembered that they’d already awakened their powers in the previous life. 

So, Chloe figured that they didn’t have much use for the mutagenic liquid. 

The System said, “Host, mutagenic liquid conversion complete. Make sure to gather energy stones soon to restore your space power.” 

“Understood,” Chloe replied. 

Chloe had a whole team to take care of, and her spiritual space devoured energy stones like a gold–eating beast. She needed to hunt down more energy stones, and fast. 

Chloe pondered, Joan is just an ordinary person, so she definitely needs a dose of mutagenic liquid. 

Liana has been doing an amazing job with the logistics lately. S has really helped make everyone’s lives a lot easier. 

‘She needs a dose, too. 

‘As for the baby, she is just too little and not strong enough. The utagenic liquid might be way too much for her.

“Wait, what?” Joan blurted out, her eyes wide. Liana echoed, “Seriously?” 

Liana was helping Joan feed the baby, and when they heard Chloe’s words, both of them just froze, totally floored. 

They thought, ‘Something that can actually help us become powered humans? 

‘Holy crap. 

They glanced at Chloe, awkward and unsure. 

“W–What are we supposed to do with this?” Joan stammered. 

Liana was so grateful that tears welled up in her eyes. 

She’d always thought of herself as just an old lady, a burden who was lucky to get a bite to eat. 

Never in a million years did she think she’d get a shot at mutagenic liquid to awaken her own abilities. 

“Chloe, I…” Liana managed, her voice thick with emotion. 

Tears streamed down her face as she struggled to find the words, completely overwhelmed with gratitude. 

Joan shot a look at Frank, clutching the mutagenic liquid as if it were burning her fingers. Her heart screamed for it, but she just couldn’t bring herself to take the plunge. 

To her, this felt like a blessing straight from the heavens. 

Joan thought, ‘Does this mean I can really have powers, too?‘ 

Frank shot Chloe a grateful look, then turned to Joan and Liana. 

“Go ahead and accept what Chloe gave you. Once you’ve got powers, you’ll be able to do even more for the team,” he encouraged. 

Joan and Liana nodded solemnly, determination shining in their eyes. 

After the baby finished her milk, she drifted off into a peaceful sleep, with Molly keeping a watchful eye on her. 

Chloe said, “Hold off for now. Wait until we’ve found a place to cash. 

“Awakening powers isn’t as simple as just popping a pill. You nee the right timing and circumstances. 

“The power liquid is more like a booster. It works best when you are pushed to your limits, like when you are starving, freezing, caught in a storm, or literally fighting for your life. 

“That’s when your hidden powers are most likely to break through. If you take it at that moment, you’ll get way better results, like twice the effect for half the effort. 

“It’ll make whatever powers you awaken way stronger and more lid.” 

Joan and Liana understood what Chloe meant and nodded solely, determined to hold off until the timing was just right. 

Everyone was curious, but nobody dared to ask Chloe where the two bottles of mutagenic liquid had suddenly come

The narrow road soon came to an end, and up ahead stretched a main highway running north to south. Scattered along the roadside were a bunch of houses.
