Aurelia suppressed the surge of anger within her and took out her phone, ready to call Alfred. 

But before she could dial, she heard Alfred’s voice. 

It was coming closer. 

First, Tessa said, “Mr. Harvey, sorry for the hassle.”

“Ms. Rowe, there’s really no need. It’s just a phone call, and you and Mr. Locke even came all the way here,” Alfred replied politely. 

He added to Tessa, “If things get too busy on your end, just let me know. I can send some staff from the school to help out.” 

“Thanks, Mr. Harvey. I really appreciate it.” 

As workers carrying things passed by, Cassian, worried Tessa might get bumped, gently steered her toward himself, his hand protective on her arm. 

In the next moment, Tessa found herself pulled securely into his embrace. 

Tessa tilted her head up and flashed him a sweet smile. 

“I’ll head back now. If you need anything, just give me a call,” Alfred said, turning to them as he saw everything was running smoothly. 

“Alright, really appreciate it. We’ll owe you a dinner next time,” Cassian chimed in. 

This time, Cassian was the one who spoke up. 

Alfred waved his hand. “Mr. Locke, you’re too kind.” 

After Alfred left, Cassian and Tessa headed into the venue. 

Aurelia took a deep breath, forcing herself to tamp down the sudden flare of anger inside her. 

Even so, she went ahead and called Alfred. 

Alfred picked up and immediately apologized. “Ms. Corin, I was just about to call you. I’m really sorry, but there’s been a problem on our end. We need to make some changes to the venue you booked.” 

“But Alfred…” Aurelia started. 

“Ms. Corin, I owe you one. If you ever need anything from me, just let me know. I won’t hesitate to help!” Alfred cut her off. 

He didn’t even let Aurelia finish her sentence, 

That meant the decision was final. There was no changing it now, 

Of course, with Cassian stepping in himself, there was no way Alfred could say no. 

After all, he wouldn’t have landed this position if Cassian hadn’t been pulling strings for him all these years. 

Honoria Capital had set up internship and job placement programs for students at Evergreen University, making it way easier for grads to actually find work. 

They even dropped a whopping 60 million dollars to fund a brand–new tech building on campus.

She did all this just to help Cassian expand his connections, hoping he’d cash in on those favors someday. 

‘So now Cassian really is calling in those favors, Aurelia thought. ‘But not for himself, it was for Tessa. 

Aurelia’s fingers curled tightly, her mind blank for a moment. 

After a pause, she said quietly, “Understood.”

Alfred, clearly feeling bad about it, tried to smooth things over. “Venue B is a bit smaller than Venue A, but it should still be fine. Plus, I’ll make sure InquireMind gets free promotion on the school’s official website, forums, and app.” 

“Thank you,” Aurelia replied. 

Before hanging up, Alfred apologized again. 

Everyone had gotten their own place in the world and their own struggles. 

Aurelia understood. 

After all, that was just how things worked. Everything ran on favors and connections. 

She didn’t have the luxury to worry about all that right now. She had to call her team and get the venue reset, fast. 

When she got back after making the arrangements, she saw that Walter had already picked up the sign that had just been tossed in the trash and cleaned it off. 

As Aurelia walked over, he shot her a questioning look. 

“Move it to Hall B,” Aurelia said. 

He got the message right away. 

He didn’t say a word, just got to work. 

By the time the team from Regal Investment arrived, Aurelia and the attendant were already busy tidying up the place. 

With some extra help, the pace picked up a bit. 

By the time they were almost done, it was already three in the morning. 

Aurelia couldn’t help but feel guilty for making everyone work overtime so late at night, so she decided to treat everyone to some food and drinks as a small thank you. 

She was just about to place an order on her phone when a delivery guy suddenly showed up with snacks and drinks. 

Turned out, it was more food and drinks. 

He called out to the people inside from the doorway, “Is Tessa here?” 

“That’s me,” Tessa said, getting up from her chair and heading to the door. 

The delivery guy said, “Mr. Locke sent you some coffee and snacks. Could you sign for them?” 

“Sure,” Tessa said, signing for the delivery. Then she called Cassian, her voice bubbling with joy. “Cassian, I got the coffee and snacks you sent. I thought you’d already crashed for the night.”

“Not tired at all. Just sitting here bossing people around. How could I be tired?” Cassian replied.

“These past couple days have been non–stop, and I barely got to spend any time with you. Once Helix Tech finally hits the market, we’ll go on a proper vacation, just the two of us,” he promised. 

Tessa was completely lost in her own world, sweet–talking on the phone with Cassian, not caring one bit about the people 

around her. 

Aurelia checked the delivery apps, but the soonest anything would arrive was an hour from now. She figured she might as well just drive over and pick it up herself. 

She hadn’t even taken two steps when Miranda and her crew showed up. 

Everyone was carrying bags, each packed with snacks and drinks. 

Spotting Aurelia, Miranda grinned and called out, “Aurelia, I brought coffee, sweet drinks, and snacks for everyone, just something to help us recharge and stay awake.” 

Aurelia let out a sigh of relief, thinking Miranda really could handle just about anything these days. 

Sometimes, thanks to Miranda, Aurelia actually got a chance to catch her breath and take a quick break.

By seven in the morning, Tessa was getting her hair and makeup done at Vanity Beauty. 

Karlie was right there, helping her pick out the perfect jewelry. 

There were so many choices that Karlie just couldn’t decide. She was totally spoiled for choice. 

Karlie couldn’t help but sigh again. Cassian was just so good to Tessa. 

It was enough to make her feel a little envious. 

Tessa was just closing her eyes for a quick rest when her phone rang. It was Alina, calling to let her know she’d invited a bunch of ladies from the socialite circle to come support her at the IPO roadshow today. 

“A lot of the socialite circle will be there this time, so make sure you leave a great impression. These women are backed by powerful networks and family ties. You never know, they might end up investing in your projects or buying shares in HelixTech. That could be a huge boost for your career,” Alina said. 

Alina had worked so hard to get into the socialite circle, all just to pave the way for Tessa. 

Tessa asked, “Is Mrs. Porter coming?” 

Alina said, “Nope, she’s not coming. You know this already. Aurelia’s got her completely brainwashed.” 

Tessa curled her lip, full of disdain. “Aurelia must’ve been talking trash about me to Mandy and her son. Otherwise, Mandy wouldn’t be so dead set against me, especially Liam.” 

We were friends for years, and yet it only took a few words from Aurelia to totally brainwash him. 

Now he was all distant and barely even talked to her. 

Back then, he was always the life of the group chat. Now, he was practically a ghost. 

She even dropped an invite for the roadshow in the group chat.

‘So Alina doesn’t want me at the event…‘ Karlie thought, feeling pretty bummed about it. 

‘Honestly, I was hoping I’d get to see Liam there,‘ she sighed inwardly. 

Tessa knew exactly what Karlie was thinking, so she comforted her.
