“Edwina, after all, you were once the Lennox family’s heiress. Seing you end up like this it honestly hurts, he said.
Desmond frowned, faking concern for the crowd, but his phony act only made Edwina feel disgusted
“Desmond, it has nothing to do with you,” Edwina said coldly.
Desmond was just trying to make himself look like the good guy Edwina, stop pretending to be tough.
If I hadn’t called off the engagement, you wouldn’t be in this mess. But let’s face it, we’re from completely different worlds. You could never marry into my family, not in a million years.”
Pauline stood off to the side, completely stunned. ‘Is this guy for real? He’s got a screw loose, she thought.
She tugged at Edwina’s sleeve and whispered. “Want me to step i
“No, thanks,” Edwina said, shaking her head.
If things get physical, I don’t want Pauline getting hurt by accident. Guys like him are just begging for a smackdown. Edwina thought.
Desmond just wouldn’t quit. “Edwina. I’m offering you a lifeline Be my mistress
“I’ll buy you a house, a car. No more hustling or degrading work like this. You won’t have to put yourself out there anymore.”
“Oh?” Edwina’s voice lilted with mockery. “If that’s what you want let’s take this somewhere less crowded.
Follow me,” she said, her tone icy as she beckoned Desmond.
Desmond hurried after her, barely hiding his eagerness, his mind swirling with both desire and contempt.
Humph, acting all high and mighty before, but in the end? Just another gold–digger who’ll do anything for cash. Once Ive had my fun. I’ll kick her to the curb without a second thought.
She actually had the nerve to mock me at Brewer Apothecary she thinks she can mess with me? She’s got another thing coming, he sneered to himself.
Edwina led Desmond into an empty hallway.
Desmond was all over her, pawing at Edwina’s hand and kneading it like he couldn’t get enough. “Edwina. I just knew it. You’ve always had a thing for me, haven’t you? We could-
He didn’t even get to finish his creepy words before they turned into a bowl of pain. “Edwina, you
Edwina showed no mercy She broke Desmond’s hand that was utching her, quick and ruthless.
Desmond was so weak from all his womanizing and lack of excuse, he was like dandelion fluff. One hit and he fell apart.
He crumpled to the ground, totally powerless to resist.
“You–you actually hit me? How dare you! Edwina. I’m supposed to be the next Cole heir! Desmond shrieked, his voice trembling with disbelief and outrage.

Even a whole squad of international mercenaries would struggle to take her down. But Desmond? A dumb, weak, sleazy creep like him. he’d only learn his lesson after getting his ass kicked.
Desmond’s screams echoed so loudly through the mall that ever the folks outside didn’t dare come in to watch the drama
Edwina only let go once she’d had enough of beating him.
She sat down on the stairs, resting one leg on Desmond like he was nothing but a footstool.
Her voice was icy, laced with biting sarcasm. “Buy me a car? Buy the a house? Why don’t you keep that cash for your hospital bills?”
Desmond was missing a few teeth, the pain so intense he couldn’t even groan.
“This time, it’s just broken bones and bruises. Next time, I’ll make sure you’ll never be a father. Ever,” Edwina said, her voice. cold and threatening.
Those icy words sent Desmond shivering on the ground.
Edwina pulled a tissue from her pocket, wiped her hand clean, then tossed it right in his face with utter contempt before stepping over him like he was nothing.
She walked off, cool and unbothered. She knew a macho guy like Desmond would never swallow his pride enough to call the
cops.
Desmond seethed with rage inside, but right now, he couldn’t even manage a single word.
It wasn’t until Edwina had disappeared down the stairs that a man stepped out at the landing above.
He wore a tailored suit, his shirt collar open a few fresh hickeys visible on his neck. His eyes glinted with amusement and interest.
A woman in a revealing outfit slipped her arms around him from behind. “Mr. Duncan, what are you staring at? What’s so fun about watching a fight?
“Or maybe you’d rather try hitting me instead? Hmm?” she teased, her voice sultry.
The woman was seductive, clinging to him like a snake.
Clenn didn’t even hesitate, he shoved her aside, and she ended up on her butt, almost rolling right down the stairs,
She stared up at him, eyes wide with fear. “Mr. Duncan, you-
“Get lost!” Glenn barked, his voice icy.
He yanked his the loose, looking totally done with her.
Fighting was usually a snooze, but watching a woman lay out the Cole family’s golden boy? Now that was entertainment.
They were both spoiled playboys, born with silver spoons and ver having to lift a finger, just living for the thrill. But Glenn was different from Desmond; he actually had a line he wouldn’t cross and would never mess with good girls or anyone who wasn’t willing.
Everyone in their circle knew Desmond was as shameless and slzy as they come, but he always put on the best act. pretending to be Mr. Perfect. Watching him get beaten down? Now that was pure catharsis.

When Edwina got back to Maberly Fashion, Pauline looked at her with concern
“Are you okay? Maybe you should keep a low profile for a while he’s the Cole family’s golden boy, after all Pauline said, worry clear in her voice.
“No need to hide. Edwina said, giving Pauline a look. She could ll Pauline was someone who knew her way around Grindel’s high society, otherwise, she wouldn’t be connected too many of the city’s rich and powerful.
Thanks for having my back today,” Edwina said.
Pauline shook her head. “I didn’t really do much.”
Tl help out with Maberly Fashion, Edwina said.
“What do you mean?” Pauline asked, a little confused.
Edwina pulled out her phone, added Pauline on WhatsApp, and sent her a bunch of pictures.
“Whoa, what is this?” Pauline clicked open the images, her mout falling open in shock.
Edwina explained. “These are women’s clothing designs. For next season, you should feature these new designs as your main lineup.
“Work directly with reliable manufacturers, drop the celebrity endorsements and use ordinary people as models, and set up online sales. If you do all that, your sales will go through the roo
Pauline was so stunned she almost forgot to breathe
Just from these sketches, Pauline knew Edwina was the real deal
Every single one of these outfits was totally on–trend, super comy, and gorgeous to boot..
Maberly Fashion hasn’t had anything this fresh and ahead of the curve for ages.
“These designs. Pauline breathed, still in awe.
Edwina added, “Relax, you don’t have to worry about copyright. These are all my original designs. Feel free to use them.”
“You drew these?” Pauline was even more stunned. ‘Edwina look I like just a college kid, but with killer style. How could someone so young have such an eye for fashion? she thought.
Honestly, Edwina had just sketched these out for fun when she was bored. If she ever needed cash, she could always sell a dew to some big–name stores and cash in big time.
But right now, helping Pauline mattered way more.
Edwina just shook her head, not about to admit it. “Nah, a friend rew them. She thought they weren’t good enough, so she gave them all to me.”
Pauline just accepted it without a second thought, it sounded reasonable enough to her.
Honestly, it was hard to imagine Edwina could be behind something this incredibile.
“You’re seriously our department’s lucky charm. Like a blessing dropped straight from the sky. Pauline exclaimed. “If Maberly Fashion really comes back to life, Leander and I are seriously going to owe you.”
