Ryan turned around upon hearing her voice. “Almost there. Just gotta finish this last bit of work,” he replied.

She couldn’t bear the thought of her family suffering because of her, so she started bombarding Ethan with calls.

Emily knew Sophia wasn’t telling the truth, yet she simply murmured, “Okay.” 

Sophia looked puzzled. “Why are you asking about this, Mommy?”
