I walked into Alexander’s office, feeling a mix of curiosity and unease. The thought of Diana still lingered like a shadow I couldn’t quite shake.
I found Alexander at his desk, calm and composed as always, though I could sense the faint tension in his posture–subtle, but there.
I closed the door behind me, letting it click shut before speaking. “So… Diana came by earlier?” I asked, tilting my head slightly, trying to read his expression.
Alexander looked up from his papers, his sharp eyes meeting mine. “Yes,” he said simply, no hesitation in his voice. “She needed my help with something.”
“What kind of help?” I pressed, stepping closer to lean casually against the edge of his desk. I wasn’t trying to be confrontational–well, not exactly–but I needed to understand the situation before my imagination ran wild.
He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers, and explained in a steady, measured tone. There’s an issue with some wolves from another pack. They’re threatening her–trying to force her out of a property she has. It’s complicated, involves her father and some legal matters tied to the other pack’s influence. She came to me because, well… she knows my position, my connections, and the fact that I can help without unnecessary conflict.”
I nodded slowly, absorbing his words. The logical part of me understood the request–it made sense in terms of pack politics. But a tight knot of unease formed in my chest. “Hm…” I murmured, carefully choosing my words. “I mean… I get that she’s asking for help. I trust you, Alexander. But…” I trailed off, suddenly realizing that I needed to voice my thoughts, even if they sounded paranoid.
“You’re not comfortable with her being here?” he asked, raising an eyebrow, his tone gentle
but probing.
I hesitated, then let out a small, almost embarrassed laugh. “It’s not just that. It’s… every time we’ve met, I get this vibe from her. I can’t put it into words exactly, but it’s there. Like she’s… up to something. More than just an innocent visit or asking for help. I can’t shake it.”
Alexander’s expression softened. I could tell he wasn’t surprised by my admission–he always seemed to know me better than I knew myself sometimes–but he didn’t dismiss me either. “I see,” he said slowly. “I understand why you’d feel that way.”
“I mean, I trust you, don’t get me wrong,” I continued, trying to keep my voice calm, even as

my pulse quickened. “I do. But you know what happened with Bella before… The obsession, the way she nearly–well, you know. I can’t afford to let another situation like that happen. Especially with your ex mate. I… I just need some reassurance.”
Alexander’s lips quirked into a small, reassuring smile, and I felt a flutter of relief in my chest. “Faye,” he said softly, his voice carrying that commanding, yet comforting tone that always made me feel protected, “Diana means nothing more than a Blood Crescent under my protection. That’s all she is. Nothing personal, nothing romantic, nothing more than a pack member who needs help because of her circumstances.”
I studied his face, looking for any hint of doubt or hidden emotion, but there was none. Only the steadfast calm of my Alpha, the man who had never let me down. “So… you’re telling me she won’t try to… cause problems between us?” I asked carefully, my fingers tracing idle patterns on the edge of his desk.
Alexander leaned forward slightly, resting his forearms on the desk, his gaze fixed on mine. “I promise, Faye. She won’t. I won’t even handle this situation personally if I can avoid it. Cole will take care of it. You won’t have to deal with her either. I won’t be interacting with Diana beyond what’s necessary, and neither will you.”
I felt my shoulders relax just a fraction, the knot in my chest loosening. “Good,” I whispered, almost to myself. “Because I… I don’t want her ever making me feel like… like I had to compete with her for….you.”
Alexander chuckled softly, a sound that was part amusement, part affection. “Faye,” he said, his tone gentle, “you’ll never compete for my attention, or affection. Not with Diana, not to anyone. You’re my Luna. And if anyone–anyone–tried to threaten that, they’d have to go through me first.”
I couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at my lips. His words were simple, yet they carried the weight of his promise, his position, and his love. I felt my heart swell with a quiet, steady warmth. “I… I know,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “I just… I needed to hear it.”
Alexander reached over, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear with the gentlest of touches. “You’re allowed to be cautious,” he said softly, “especially after what happened with Bella. I’d expect nothing less. But trust me–this situation with Diana won’t escalate. Not on my watch. And certainly not in a way that threatens you or us.”
I leaned into his touch for a moment, savoring the reassurance, the grounded presence of the man I loved. “Thank you,” I murmured. “For understanding… for taking it seriously… and for making sure I don’t have to deal with her.”
Alexander’s gaze softened, the usual sharpness of his demeanor replaced by something more intimate, more protective. “You’ll never have to worry about that, I promise,” he said. “

I nodded, feeling a sense of peace settle over me that had been absent since Diana’s brief visit. “I trust you,” I said simply, the words carrying more weight than I realized until I said them.
“And I trust you,” Alexander replied, allowing the tension in his own shoulders to ease as well. “Which is why you don’t need to be anxious. Everything is under control. You focus on yourself, on the baby, and I’ll handle what needs to be handled…the right way.”
I smiled, a real, easy smile that reached my eyes. “I like that.”
He returned the smile, though his eyes held that familiar intensity that always made me feel like he was reading my soul. “Me too,” he said quietly. “Now, enough about Diana. Let’s enjoy the rest of the day without thinking about pack politics or other wolves. Just… us.”
I nodded again, letting out a soft laugh. “Deal,”
