The powered humans started making faces and burst out laughing at the soldiers. 

“What a bunch of losers.” 

“Powerless trash.” 

Some even went as far as to moon the soldiers right there. 

“That’s crossing the line!” the soldier standing in front of Chloe spat, unable to hold back his anger. 

He was in his twenties, just the age when young men were brimming with passion and fire. 

Humiliated like this, he clenched his fists, eyes practically shooting flames, jaw tight with rage. 

A powered human nearby flicked his finger at the young soldier, taunting, “Yeah, we’re pushing you around. So what? What are you gonna do about it?” 

“Come on, you gonna hit us?” scoffed another powered guy. 

The young soldier’s fists clenched so tight one could hear his knuckles crack, ready to lunge at the powered humans. 

An older soldier caught his wrist and gave him a warning shake of the head. “Don’t make things harder for the lieutenant.” 

The young soldier’s face went from blue to red. Then finally he dropped his head, defeated. 

Faced with the official authorities backed by powered humans, the soldiers felt utterly helpless. 

After the apocalypse, firearms gradually lost their edge. With zombies, mutant creatures, and powered humans growing stronger every day, it was only a matter of time before guns faded into history. 

But the military was made up of stubbornly principled folks, holding tight to their old values. 

They cared most about protecting and evacuating civilians, and most of the supplies they secured went straight to the people. 

The soup kitchen ran by the base, for instance, cost quite a hefty bill every single day. 

At first, a lot of powered humans signed up with the army. But it didn’t take long for them to figure out that rolling with the military meant barely enough to eat or wear, and sometimes even having to give up their own supplies to the civilians. 

Most people were inherently selfish. 

Few people would share their meager supplies with others when they could barely feed themselves. 

Plus, all the refugees just assumed the military was there to serve them, like they were entitled to whatever the

Over time, the divide between Richard’s crew and the military just kept getting bigger. 

Chloe frowned, deep in thought. ‘No wonder the military vanished after two years into the apocalypse in my previous life. 

‘This can’t go on. We need a plan that’ll actually last.’ 

But she wasn’t military herself, and she definitely didn’t have the time or energy to preach to a bunch of hard- headed soldiers. 

Of course, if she ever had to work with anyone, she’d pick the military first. 

At least she could count on them. No need to worry about anyone stabbing her in the back. 

Seeing the soldiers clenching their fists in anger but clearly holding themselves back, the powered humans only got bolder, acting even more outrageous. 

The military stood on the north side, while the official powered humans gathered to the south. 

Chloe and her crew were at the very edge of the military’s southern row, right next to the official powered humans. 

She didn’t try to hide today. Dressed in a light tracksuit with her hair pulled into a casual high ponytail, she looked neat and crisp. 

And it wasn’t just her; every member of the Blaze Squad looked energetic and clean. 

It didn’t take long for a few troublemaking powered humans to start giving them looks. 

Tristan, a tall, skinny guy, got bored when the soldiers just brushed him off and didn’t react.

Suddenly, Chloe’s striking figure caught his attention.

‘I’m not trying to mess with her. I don’t dare.‘ Charles panicked inside. 

Chloe glanced over with a teasing smile, catching sight of Charles, who looked like he wished he could just disappear. 

She stepped out from the group and said, “Charles, you want to have some fun with me too?” 

Charles jolted like he’d been electrocuted when Chloe called his name. He shook his head like a bobblehead and waved his hands frantically in front of his chest. 

“No, I swear!” he blurted out, looking like he might cry any second. 

Chloe was so OP she could take out their captain before he even knew what hit him. 

Charles’s panicked reaction got the powered humans around him cracking up. 

“Bro, you’re seriously pathetic!” 

“Look at you, losing your nerve over a girl. What’s wrong, man? Scared she’ll break you? Or have you messed around so much you can’t get it up anymore?” 

They glanced down at Charles’s crotch, grinning with those dirty, knowing smiles. 

Charles’s face turned livid. 

Just keep laughing, you assholes. Later, you’ll be the ones crying, he fumed to himself. 

He quietly switched spots with someone to his right.

At the same time, Elio also quietly swapped places with someone else.

himself from sheer terror,

Noah reached out and pulled Chloe behind him, standing protectively in front with those handsome, innocent eyes.

The mutant cheetah sprawled on his shoulder shifted around, rolling its eyes dramatically up. 

It thought, ‘Idiot, what’s so special about Chloe? She’s so fierce; say the wrong thing and she’ll kill the guy on the spot. 

‘If you really can’t get over her, just forget it. I’ll find you a beautiful lady cheetah instead. 

But Noah was totally clueless about what his cheetah was thinking. 

Its dramatic display only made the powered humans laugh even harder. 

Charles and Elio quietly edged away from the scene, each trying to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the chaos. 

‘Just don’t let any blood get on me when the fight breaks out, both of them thought. 

Tristan was way out of line. Not only did he try to pull Chloe into his arms, but he also threw some trash talk at the soldier standing right in front of her.
