Chapter 99 The Rogue Derek 

After finishing the meal, Derek got up to settle the bill. 

Vanessa tugged at Emily’s arm and asked, “Aren’t you happy about this?” 

“No, as long as you’re happy, that’s what matters.” Deep down, Emily was seething with frustration, but she forced the words out anyway. 

Now, she could finally grasp the exasperation her family felt back then, when they tried to talk her out of marrying Ethan. 

Vanessa lowered her gaze and murmured, “I know you’re upset, but…” 

Emily didn’t want to hear another word. She stood up abruptly and said, “I’m heading to the restroom.” 

She didn’t want to argue. At this point, Vanessa would have to figure things out for herself. 

In truth, the current Vanessa wasn’t all that different from how Emily herself had been back then. 

When she walked out of the restroom, she spotted Derek heading her way–he’d clearly finished paying, yet he isn’t5:26 walking back toward their table.

Drawing closer, she noticed a girl with loose, flowing hair seated at a nearby table. 

Derek leaned in, his hand resting on the back of her chair, encircling her in his arms.

Once it was done, he wiggled his phone playfully and said, “Don’t forget to hit me up, okay?” 

The girl blushed, her smile shy and coquettish, nodding eagerly. The whole scene turned Emily’s stomach. 

Irritation bubbled up inside her. She’d known all along that Derek couldn’t shake his sleazy habits. 

As Derek turned to head back to their private room, he looked up and locked eyes with Emily. 

The dining hall was empty, leaving just the two of them staring across the void. Emily’s gaze was laced with utter contempt, while Derek wore an expression of nonchalant indifference.

Emily stepped back, her voice a low hiss. “You bastard.” 

Instead of getting angry, Derek’s smirk only widened, his eyebrow arching provocatively. “Oh yeah? Want to see just how fierce I can be?” 

Fury surged through Emily, and she raised her hand to slap him, but Derek caught her wrist in a flash. With a firm yank, he pulled her straight into his embrace. 

“What’s this? Couldn’t wait to throw yourself at me?” 

At that very moment, the door to another private room swung 

open. 

Ethan and Andrew stepped out. 

Emily was standing facing Derek, while Ethan and Andrew came out through the door behind her, so she didn’t see them. 

Derek was oblivious to Ethan and Andrew’s presence. He

Those arms wrapped around her, absorbing the backward rush and bringing her to a gentle halt. 

Straightening up, Emily instinctively said, “Thank you.” 

But when she lifted her head, she found herself staring into 

Ethan’s face.
