Chapter 111 In Two MinutesÂ
Alexander lifted the blanket and wrapped Emily completely inside it.Â
The person beneath the covers lay stiff and motionless.Â
At this moment, she was still Ethan’s wife in name. They had a marriage certificate, and they had a daughter.Â
The relationship had broken down, but that bond still existed.Â
What Emily was doing now was, without question, a slap in Ethan’s face.Â
No matter how little he loved her, he would at least be angry, wouldn’t he?Â
After tucking the blanket around Emily, Alexander rested a hand on her waist and looked toward the figure at the doorway with a relaxed, languid tone. “Mr. Wilson, what a rare guest. What made you suddenly find the time to come see me?”Â
There was not a trace of panic in his words, only an undercurrent of provocation.Â
Ethan stood backlit at the door, his sharp gaze falling on the chair nearby. Draped over it were Alexander’s jacket, along with Emily’s jeans, T–shirt, jacket, and underwear.Â

The two sets of clothes were tangled together, inexplicably intimate.Â
Hidden beneath the blanket, Emily’s heart pounded wildly as she imagined Ethan’s reaction.Â
He might retaliate against the entire Carter family, or he might grind her into the dirt and make sure she never rose again.Â
He was Ethan. A man so proud. Could he really tolerate the humiliation of catching his wife in bed with another man?Â
The air seemed frozen. Ethan didn’t speak for a long time.Â
The longer the silence stretched, the more violently Emily’s heart raced, as though it were about to burst out of her chest.Â
Ethan strode into the room, his piercing gaze locking onto Alexander’s hand resting on Emily’s waist.Â
In the dim light, his handsome face was taut, yet the fury Emily had imagined never came.Â
He only growled her name. “Emily. I want to see you in two minutes.”Â
With that, Ethan turned and walked out.Â
Just then, Alexander spoke up, “Is there something you can’t 2/5 say here?”Â

Ethan halted, but he didn’t answer Alexander. Instead, he addressed Emily again. “You have a little over a minute left.”Â
His words were an order, leaving Emily no room to resist.Â
Even though he was not visibly angry, she didn’t dare defy him.Â
If Ethan ever truly lost control, he really would destroy the entire Carter family.Â
After speaking, Ethan stepped away. The door was not fully closed, leaving a narrow gap through which it was clear that he was still standing outside.Â
Emily didn’t waste a single second. Wrapped in the blanket, she got out of bed and hurriedly pulled her clothes on.Â
Watching her, Alexander let out a low, amused chuckle. “That afraid of him?”Â
Emily didn’t respond, but she knew all too well that Ethan couldn’t tolerate betrayal.Â
He might endure ambiguity, but now she had been lying naked beside Alexander.Â
Two minutes later, Emily pulled open the hotel room door.Â
Ethan didn’t turn back to look at her. He walked briskly down 3/5Â

the corridor and said as he went, “Follow me.”Â
There was no emotion in his voice, and Emily couldn’t tell what he was thinking.Â
All she could do was follow.Â
At the end of the corridor, Ethan pushed open the stairwell door. He went in, and Emily followed.Â
Once the door closed, Ethan stood right by it, as if deliberately blocking Alexander from entering.Â
Emily watched everything unfold, fear and shock churning inside her.Â
For five years of marriage, she had loved Ethan, respected him, and even imagined that after a divorce, she would stop caring, stop respecting him, and stop loving him.Â
But she had never felt fear like this.Â
Ethan leaned against the door and calmly lit a cigarette. As he lowered his head, the flame from the lighter illuminated his face. His expression was dark, devoid of any hint of a smile.Â
There was something chilling about him, enough to make one’s heart tremble.Â

Only after he exhaled the first cloud of smoke did Ethan lowerÂ

his gaze to Emily. “Come with me somewhere.”Â
Emily looked at him. Seeing how calm he was, all her assumptions instantly turned into a joke.Â
So this was it. When a man truly didn’t love a woman, even being cheated on barely mattered to him.Â
If Nancy were the one who had done this, he would probably be losing his mind right now, breaking down, going mad.Â
Emily’s heart plunged into an icy abyss. She wanted to cry and wanted to laugh, but in the end, she realized she could do neither.Â
It was not until Ethan had already started down the stairs and saw that she had not followed that he turned back and said, “Emily, I’ve already been very patient.”Â
His words were both a warning and a concession.Â
But Emily no longer cared.Â
After all, he had never truly cared about her.Â
