Chapter 48 Dinner Out TogetherÂ
From the second floor, Jane looked through the glass window and watched the couple walking toward the building. She mudged Cassius with her elbow.Â
“My eyes aren’t messing with me, right? That’s really your cold and expressionless cousin.Â
She was stunned.Â
“What the hell is going on? He actually knows how to act like a gentleman”Â
Jane was in shock. She knew Mason well and knew what he was usually like. She truly couldn’t connect theÂ
man in front of her with the one she knew before.Â
“I honestly thought he had no interest in anyone at all. I thought he was cold–natured. I thought his life consisted only of work. I thought he was boring and had zero interest in women.”Â
Cassius glanced over once, then looked away. He stayed calm.Â
“She triggered the forced match. That kind of thing comes from the most basic instinct in the genes. Whether he admits it or not, love at first sight isn’t some made–up story.”Â
Men were only cold to women they didn’t like. When it was someone they liked, they didn’t bother keepingÂ
up appearances.Â
As Louis spoke, he picked up a pieÂ
of peach and handed it to her. He smiled.Â
“Jane, you should understand that better than anyone.”Â
Jane shot him a glare.Â
“If you want to tease Christian, do it to his face.”Â
“That guy is boring as hell. I’m not stupid enough to dig up his past in front of him.”Â
Louis‘ eyes curved with a mischievous smile.Â
“Well, watching them later on should be fun too.”Â
Cassius looked at the two of them, who clearly loved stirring up trouble. He felt helpless. The old saying really was true. Birds of a feather flock together.Â
“Ava, over here.”Â
After they walked in, Jane stepped out of the private room and waited at the door.Â
Ava hurried to pull her hand out of Mason’s grip. She tried several times and still couldn’t pull free. Her face turned red, and she felt very awkward.Â
Mason acted like he didn’t notice her reaction. He held her hand and walked over. He pulled out a chair and let Ava sit first. Then he spoke.Â
“Do you have anything you can’t eat?”Â

“No. Anything is fine.”Â
Under several pairs of blatant stares, Ava felt incredibly embarrassed. Her face burned.Â
Jane glanced at Mason.Â
“You’re paying today. If I don’t order a lot, I won’t feel better.”Â
“Order whatever you want.”Â
Mason dropped those words and sat down next to Ava.Â
FinishellÂ
He was tall and long–legged. There was clearly plenty of space. He still moved his chair closer to her. After he sat down, his leg pressed against hers. The warmth of his skin passed through the thin fabric. Ava was startled and quickly moved her leg away.Â
Mason looked straight ahead. From the corner of his eye, he noticed her slight movement. The next second, he reached out and took hold of the hand resting on her knee.Â
This man.Â
Ava grew nervous. She tried to pull her hand back again. She still couldn’t move it. She felt his thumb lightly brush across her hand a few times. Her body trembled.Â
Jane looked at her.Â
“If you’re cold, we can ask them to turn up the heat.”Â
Ava clenched her teeth. She could only pretend nothing was wrong.Â
“No. My leg just cramped for a moment.”Â
Louis‘ eyes shifted slightly. A faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.Â
“Since everyone is here, let’s order. We’ve been out all day. We still have things to do tonight.”Â
He continued speaking.Â
“Mason, I’ll have to trouble you to send Ava back to the Morren Residence later. We won’t go the same way. It’s really not on the way.”Â
Mason felt pleased. He didn’t show it on his face. He only nodded calmly.Â
Ava looked at Jane.Â
“Are you working late tonight, too?”Â
Jane glared at Louis and warned him not to talk nonsense. Louis only smiled.Â
“I’m not wrong. If you don’t believe me, ask Cassius.”Â
“We do have some things tonight. You don’t need to worry. Mason will definitely send you home safely.”Â

Louis knew when to stop. He didn’t want to push things too far and end up sleeping alone.Â
Ava spoke with guilt.Â

“I really troubled you and Louis today. I took up your whole day.”Â
Jane smiled. Under the table, she kicked Louis right in the leg.Â
“Don’t say that. Your matters are always important to me. Just treat whatever Louis says as nonsense and ignore him.”Â
Louis looked at her with an aggrieved expression. Cassius also spoke.Â
“Ava, you’re Jane’s sister. That makes you our sister, too. We can’t be careless about anything related to you.”Â
Mason ignored the silent exchange between them. He spoke again.Â
“Let’s order.”Â
The private room’s dedicated server brought over the menu. Jane took a look and listed several dishes. She then handed the menu to Ava.Â
“See if there’s anything you like. Order whatever you want. He can afford it anyway.”Â
Ava glanced at the menu. It was beautifully made and carried a lightly scented smell. The prices were shocking. One dish cost almost half a month of her old living expenses. She was stunned inside. The cost of living on the Capitol Planet was beyond the reach of ordinary people.Â
