Chapter 49Â
Alpha NicholasÂ
12 years oldÂ
Come on, Nicky. It’ll be fun! My best friend Tony whines. We’re sitting in the breakfast hall filling our stomachs before school. There’s a school field trip today only he doesn’t want to go, and neither do Ryan, Cole, or Adrian. We all attend high school in the local town which holds a mixture of students including humans, werewolves, and even some witches and while both the werewolves and witches are fully aware of each other’s presence, the humans have no idea about any supernatural existence and that’s just how we like it. There has to be an extreme reason for telling a human that you are supernatural ar you can get in serious trouble.Â
“I don’t see how going into another territory intentionally looking for a Rogue pack is fun. Have you forgotten how dangerous they can be? I see the flicker of pain flash across Ryan’s face and as much as I don’t want to drag up his painful memories, I need to make Tony think about this. Ryan’s dad was killed by Rogues while on border duty 2 years ago and I know it’s left him brokenhearted. And while I understand Tony’s reasons for wanting to go there, it’s still a fucking crazy idea.Â
“Since when did you become so sensible?” Tony asks with a hint of amusement in his tone. I get why he asked I’m usually the first one to be up for doing anything but I recently started my Alpha training and already it’s opening my eyes. Yes, I’m only 12 and I won’t take over the Alpha position until I am at least 18 years old but between school, family, and some chill time there’s not a lot of time left for training and with so much to learn our trainingÂ
starts early.Â
“Since Dada Alpha started training him to be a big and strong Alpha man,” Cole says while flexing his muscles and wiggling his eyebrows. The whole table erupts into laughter myself included while I playfully punch him in the arm. “You’re such an ass!” He shrugs while still having a huge smirk across his face. I have been best friends with these guys since we were all pups in nursery andÂ
one day they will all be my warriors.Â
“You wait smart ass. The day will come when I will make you regret those words!” Suddenly he stops smirking and gulps as he swallows back what would have been his next smart–ass comment and once again the whole table bursts into laughter. Even though I will be his Alpha, I will never treat them badly unless there is a need which would mean something bad has happened but… Well, he doesn’t need to know that, and I’m going to enjoy teasing him about it for the next few years at least.Â
Tony lets out a sigh as he pushes away his half–eaten plate of food. “It’s ok, I get it, I do. You need to be more careful than the rest of us. You’re going to be Alpha one day and your pack needs you but me… my dad… we need answers. We need to know if the rumors are true. We need to know if she’s still alive, and I’m willing to risk my life to find out. As long as I get the information back to my dad then I don’t care what happens to me but none of you should risk you selves for this and I was stupid to even ask you.”Â
Tony’s mother disappeared 8 months ago and the rumour mill has been rife. While some believe that she is dead, there are also a lot of people who suspect there’s more to it. The official story is that she was killed by Rogues while out on a run. It’s assumed that she must have gone past the border but there’s one rather big problem with that story and that’s the fact that her body was never found.Â
