Chapter 120 Returning the Gifts 

Emily cut Ryan off, her eyes red as she said, “I understand.” 

She gave him a small smile, her gaze filled with gratitude. 

She knew what he was trying to say. 

The truth was that Emily understood all of it. 

After thinking it over, she didn’t go to see Alexander. Instead, she packed up everything he had sent and drove it to his residence. 

The person who came to the door was a housekeeper. When she saw that it was a young, attractive woman, she more or less guessed what was going on.

He first had dinner arranged for her and then got straight to the point. “I’ve prepared some gifts. Go to Robinson Manor and pay Ruth a visit.” 

Fearing that Emily might refuse, Matthew added, “Just consider it doing this on my behalf.”

Emily knew she couldn’t argue her way out of it. Reluctantly, she agreed.

Emily fastened her seat belt, nodded, and drove off. 

When she reached the entrance of Robinson Manor, she was surprised to see Ethan’s car.

Carrying the gifts inside, Emily saw Ruth sitting in a cushioned chair. She wore a hat, with a blanket draped over her legs. Sitting on either side of her were Ethan and Nancy. 

They were in the middle of a conversation and had not noticed Emily enter. 

Ruth held Nancy’s hand, her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled warmly. “Andrew told me everything. You really went to great lengths for my surgery. You even humbled yourself to speak up for others. I’m so touched. No matter what happens from now on, I’ll always be on your side. I won’t allow it if Ethan tries to hurt you. If you ever feel wronged by him, just tell me. I’ll deal with him for you. Andrew and I will both be your family.”
