JASMINES POVÂ
The following day as I worked at the restaurant I anxiously waited for Mike’s update on how his father surgery was going to turn out. He was supposed to come in to work but he requested to make up for his shift today another day. He had told the manager it was due to personal reasons. No one else at the restaurant knew what was going on with him aside from me. It wasn’t to speak on his situation so I kept his secret.Â
“I wonder what’s going on with Mike,” Megan asked on our lunch break after lunchÂ
service.Â
Josh was smoking in a corner of the room as he checked his phone as well as he checked his phone.Â
“Has he spoken to you?” I asked Megan.Â
“No, but he did say that he has something important to tell me soon,” she told me surprised. “Is he finally going to explain me what’s been going on with him?”Â
That meant he planned to let her know soon. I was glad he keeping his promise.Â
“I think he will,” I said to her giving her hope.Â
“I hope so,” she said a little sceptical. Oh he had to thought to myself Mike had promised me he would tell her. If he squirmed out of it I would cornerÂ
**Â
It was later in the afternoon after I had picked up Tony that I got an update from Mike.Â
My fathers‘ surgery went well! He texted me.Â
I felt a wave of relief come over me as I read his text. “That’s great news‘. I texted back.Â
‘The doctors are saying that his body is showing signs of accepting the kidney and in few days should it should be functioning properly.’ Miked added.Â
‘This is amazing Mike, I’m so happy,” I replied.Â
It was a gamble paying for the surgery knowing there was a chance his body could reject the kidney. I’m glad the gamble had paid off in the end.Â
Victoria and I over then moon. Thank you so much Jasmine you have no ideaÂ

I’m happy I could help. I replied. When are you coming back to work?Â
I think on ThursdayÂ
Alright, I’ll see you soon, then?Â
I then wished him a pleasant evening and we said said our goodbyes. My mood had significantly lifted upon hearing the success of the his fathers surgery.Â
****Â
It was late in the evening I had already put Tony to bed and decided to go to the kitchen and make a cup of tea. I also wanted to go through some documents before I went to bed.Â
As I sat down at the kitchen counter I looked at my medical report I’d received at the hospital once more. I took in the negative test results. I had almost forgotten about the report because of the Mike situation, Keith disturbing my peace and dealing with the divorce papers.Â
I contemplated as I stared at the report. I was still determined to find out what caused my sickness. I couldn’t get another check up for a while but perhaps I could conduct other forms of investigatingÂ
I remembered the dream I’d had of my mother the other day. I recalled my thoughts of how our lives had parallel each other. Perhaps my sickness was similar to hers. I didn’t know much about my mother even what she was suffering from. Again I was very young at the time and my father didn’t care for her. Neither when she was well, when she was sick nor after she died.Â
I barely talked to my father as well so it’s not like I could ask him about her. My father had me strictly focus on my ‘bride‘ training growing up and I never saw him since he was busy with brother teaching him to become the heir of the company. Not to mention I was terrified of my father, there were a few times I had been hit by him if I bothered him. So it wasn’t a surprise that after my mother died it wasn’t long before it was as if my mother had never existed. A pitiful and awful way my father had treated her.Â
With my mothers life in mind, I did remember that before she died my father had the family doctors visit her and diagnose her from the room he hid her in. It was common for socialites to have their own private doctors. In fact there were clinics specifically for rich people in the city.Â

Of course in my last life when I was sick I couldn’t go to those specialist clinics. I could contact the doctors to ask for her reports and see if there was anything I could find out about her sickness and what caused it. If it was the same then my future illness was caused a family ailment.Â
Another thing I could do was ask doctors their opinion on what could cause the symptoms. In my past life the doctors were unable to identify what had caused my sickness they said they couldn’t identify it. There was chance that if I asked the doctors now they would respond similarly to how they had in my past life.Â
Nonetheless, I wanted to ask I wouldn’t just limit my research to the Yorkshire hospital which was the hospital I had been admitted to even in my past life. I would ask other professionals from different hospitals across the country surely one of them had to know something. I would send various emails to all the different hospitals and to my family’s doctor in due time.Â
After a moment I then heard the doorbell ring. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Who was it? If it was Keith again I was going to respectfully tell him to F off. I let out a sigh as I checked the the peephole of the door.Â
My heart sank in my chest upon seeing who it was. “Diana,” I said in surprise.Â
What was she doing here in person? And at this time? It was literally 9pm. I didn’t open the door and instead turned away from it. Planning to ignore her.Â
“Jasmine I know you’re in there let me in!” she demanded from outside.Â
