60 A meeting that can’t be avoided 

“No, not yet anyway. For the past few months he’s been awkwardly flirting with me and being suggestive towards me whenever he comes. However, I have a feeling his advances will get worse with time,” she explained. “Imagine my surprise coming out of the bathroom and bumping into him.” a 

“I’m so sorry, you’ve had to go through that,” I told her. Mike continued to comfort her and caress her with his arm around her. 

“I swear he’s been harassing me more often ever since Rebecca left,” she said. 

“Yeah,” Mike said in agreement as he thought about it. 

“Who’s Rebecca?” I asked them. 

“She’s the waitress who used to work here whom you replaced,” Mike informed me. 

“She started working here a year before Mark and I. She’s a college student like us, around 21 years old. Gatwick would always target her when he came to the restaurant. It got to the point where even the manager would try to have her out of sight whenever Gatwick came,” she explained. 

“Apparently, she…..now we don’t know if it’s true. She never told us anything,” Megan explained. 

“Tell me,” I encouraged her to go though she wasn’t sure. 

But we think Mr Gatwick did something to her that made her quit working here,” Megan said. “A few months ago, there’s a time Gatwick came to the restaurant. We didn’t see Rebecca for a while who had been on shift. When we saw her again she came running out of the staff area crying and immediately left the restaurant. The next day she didn’t come to work and the manager said she had resigned.” 

My eyes widened in horror at the story. “Oh my god,” I said in disbelief. Though they said they didn’t know if anything had happened. It wasn’t hard filling in the blanks that Gatwick must have done something horrible to her. 

“Again we’re not sure since she didn’t speak to anyone after the incident but it 

certainly looks like something had happened, I believe it,” Mike said., 

“And there’s nothing you can do about it? You said the manager is aware of the issue, perhaps he can tell the CEO, right? ” I asked.

“The man’s practically untouchable. He works with the CEO and everything that gets to the CEO first goes through him. He can threaten anyone who tries to tell on him. I’m sure if one of victims tried to sue him with more money and power his victims would lose. Even the manager is powerless. The manager just does his best to prevent incidents. He’s been trying to avoid hiring younger female employees.” 

So that explains part of the reason I was hired. Reminded me of Diana I thought to myself. He threatens anyone who stands in his way. 

“It’s probably why the manager was frantically looking for Gatwick just now. He was probably worried he was up to something.” Mike said. 

I would have to ask Louis about this when I met him to understand how much he knew. I still refused to believe he was aware of Andrew’s antics and still continued to work with him. Andrew had to be stopped because if the story about the girl I’d replaced was true then he was only going to continue. There would be more victims. God knows what would have happened to Megan if Mike and I hadn’t come to her 

rescue. 

The three of us then returned to the dinning area to continue working. Gatwick had luckily left the restaurant.

When I clocked off work I as usual made my way to collect Tony. As I walked down the street from the restaurant, I noticed a black sedan parked at the end of it. The driver and passenger side door opened. Two men dressed like/bodyguards came toward me. I already knew what this was about. 

“Ms. Towers, the chairman would like to see you this afternoon,” one of the two men informed me once they reached me. 

He waited for me to finish work, did he? How kind of him I thought to myself. 

“Tell him to fuck off,” I told the men. I then made to walk past them but I couldn’t as they continued to block my way. I then turned around and tried to turn to go back the other way, however, there were two more men behind me. Where had they come from? I thought myself, 

“What?” I said in belief. 

“He said we are to bring you whether you agree to come with us or not,” one of the men informed me.

“You’re joking, I have to pick up my son,” I told them. What did they mean whether I agreed or not? 

“He’s already being collected as we speak,” they informed me. “You’ll meet him at the chairman’s office.” 

My lips pressed together in annoyance, should have known Keith would resort to this. 

I was completely surrounded there was no where I could go. Reluctantly I yielded and let them take me. 

I was escorted to the car and made to sit in the passenger seat. I was fuming, but I suppose I should have known couldn’t avoid him forever. When we arrived at the Acland holding HQ the two men escorted into the building. The other two that had been in another car followed behind us as well. Keith isn’t four men a bit excessive I thought to myself. 

We passed the reception where we found the receptionists I always used to see when I used to come here constantly, they watched me as I was being escorted. They then whispered amongst themselves, I could only imagine what they were talking about. To think in the past I always came here but was never allowed to and now I was being allowed to see him but it was against my will. 

We reached Kieth’s office which was at the top of the building. It had been years since I had gone to Keith’s office I mean counting the 6 years of my past life that is. Upon entering the large office I found Keith standing by one of many large windows of the office looking outside. Upon entering he looked my way.
