I promised that what I’m working on won’t take longI reassured Louis.

What if Chairman Acland approaches you again?he asked nervously.

He no longer has a reason to continue coming to see me. He will focus on Diana. It’s Diana whom I’m more worried about,I told him.

My interaction with Keith had thrown me off a little but I wasn’t worried about him. I had Kyle and Harry to protect me in case anything happened.

He let out a sigh. I’m not so sure about that,he said doubtfully.

I wondered why he was more nervous about Keith.

At the very least promise me you won’t stay up late tonight again,he then requested of me.

I promise,” I lied through my teeth.

Louis scoffed as he took another puff of his cigarette. He then moved away from the railing and drew closer to me.

My gaze was on his golden eyes that were locked onto me as well. He then stood right in front of me and lowered himself. His eye contact didn’t waver as he did so. I was taken aback by his closeness wondering what he was about to do. I leaned further back on the table when he reached his arm out, and it went past me.

I looked back and saw he was simply putting the cigarette he was done smoking in the ashtray on the table. My body was blocking it. Why didn’t he just ask me to move then? I wondered.

Liar,he then whispered in my ear as he came away from me, sending shivers down my spine and my breathing hitched.

He turned his head to look at me with a smirk on his face and then moved away from

  1. me.

Good night, Jasmine,” he said to me as he headed inside the apartment.

Good night, Louis,” I replied in a stunned tone.

That man….I thought to myself as I watched him leave, shaking my head. How

annoying. There were times I would look at him and recall the adorable boy I used to know and then there were other times he looked different…

I sat on my bed as I went through the package of my order from the night before that had been delivered. The mini microphone and the recording devices. I tested them out and they seemed to be in good condition. They should work just fine I told myself.

I then took out my phone and went to the recording I had taken of my conversation with Rebecca in the morning. It was truly heartbreaking I transferred the recording to my laptop so I could add it to my folder of evidence for Gatwick.

I then continued my report on Rebecca and Gatwick. I also finished working on the report I was working on of the young female employees of the company. I was making a list of them so it was easier to go through them that way Louis would have a hard time.

I also realized I had forgotten to ask Rebecca if she knew anyone else who had been a victim. However, it was fine, I’m sure they were among the employees I was making a list of. I didn’t have enough time to contact all of them before carrying out the plan the day after tomorrow. So I would have to rely on Louis to handle it once I handed him the evidence.

Once I was done with the reports, I then began to go through the folders I had borrowed from Louis the night before. Continuing the work I started the night before. Most of these documents were either written by Gatwick or approved by him I was just trying to understand how and what he wrote. Curious to see if I would find anything strange.

I was hoping it would be something like a strange file about an employee or something however from the employee files I had gone through there was nothing.

Although, I was looking into the documents to do résearch on Gatwick I was also finding the documents on the company quite interesting. I was learning more and more about the company. Its employees, how it operates, and its finances.

Particularly the finances of the company were still difficult to comprehend, I mean it was only day two of learning accounting. I remained patient as I went through the documents and looked up online what everything meant. Even

Another interesting aspect of my investigation, was that since I had taken more folders than I had initially intended I realized I had more documents from the prior years. In

particular from before the Carringtons purchased the restaurant. Meaning I could compare the documents Gatwick had written with the ones from the previous reports.

It was from that I found out the difference in the budget the company had after the Carringtonspurchased it. With the previous owner, each restaurant had a budget of 100 thousand (USD) for monthly operations. Now it had a budget of 45 thousand. My jaw dropped to the floor. Less than half the budget!

This is what the head chef had been complaining about to the manager the other day. The difference in the budget was insane of course he would be angry.

I also noticed the difference in profits over the years. The extra folders I had taken were from 2014 and 2013. They showed a slow but steady decline in profits from 2013 to now in 2015. How sad I thought to myself.

As the hours passed and I continued to read through the documents I still didn’t find anything that stuck out to me. I just accepted that there was nothing odd I would find and would just present what I had compiled so far to Louis.

I then began to reorganize the different documents I had sprawled all over my bed.

When I got to the accounting papers and I was about to start organizing them, it suddenly hit me. My eyes narrowed as I looked again at the accounting papers sprawled on my bed. I had organized them according to dates and years so I could easily compare them. I looked at a paper on the budgeting and expenses from 2013 and then took one from 2015 and carefully studied it. Then I took another one from each respective year and compared them. Then again.

Something was a little strange about the numbers. 1
