99 The new executive assistant 

JASMINES POVD 

I woke up the next morning feeling excited for the day. 

Following Louis‘ guidance I woke up to get ready at the time he did. I helped Tony get ready for school as usual ate breakfast with him. And sent him off as usual with a big kiss on his forehead. 

“Is this office appropriate?” I asked him as I spun around for to see my outfit. I was dressed in a burgundy smart feminine suit. 

“Yeah, you look stunning,” he complimented 

“Thanks, but your tie isn’t,” I commented as I made my way to him and fixed his tie for him. This was what the third time? 

He was looking down at me with a strange smirk. 

“Are you sure you want you want to come with me today? You can stay home or do something else before you start,” he asked. 

“No I would be bored at home anyway,” I assured him I wanted to start today. After Thursday and Friday when he left me at home I kind of bored. 

“I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone as excited to work as you,” he said to me. 

I was genuinely excited to start working because of all the new skills I was going to learn about running a business. 

We left the apartment and made our way to the car. Along the ride to the HQ Louis and I went through the things I would be expected to do. 

“By the way, I’ll have to go and check on the restaurants as your representative right?” I remembered. “For the restaurant I was working at how will my coworkers and the manager perceive me now after everything?” I asked him. 

I hadn’t spoken to Megan or Mike after the incident on Thursday but when I spoke to them they were curious about how I knew Louis. Obviously if they see me now as his assistant they’ll have even more questions. 

“Oh about that, I kind of lied to them about that already,” he told me.

I cocked an eyebrow at him. “Go on,” I asked him to explain. 

A nervous expression appeared on his face. “To kind of explain our connection. I told the manager that I sent you there to covertly investigate Gatwick, confirm if the rumours were true and catch him in the act.” 

My lips parted not expecting that. “That’s quite the tale…” I started. “So I was your spy?” 

“I know the story plays up my role and makes me look like I was aware of the Gatwick situation the whole time but I didn’t know how else to explain our relationship,” he explained. 

“It’s not a problem,” I told him. It wasn’t about taking credit for the situation, I was glad Gatwick was caught. 

“And it’s the same story I’ve told everyone at the HQ the same story so they know why I picked you for the position as my assistant.” He went on. 

When we arrived at the garden house headquarters which were on the other side of the cities business district. Louis me inside. 

It was a modest sized building not a massive skyscraper that I imagined the Carrington group HQ was like. After all the garden house had been a smaller but fast growing multimillion dollar company compared to the Carrington and Acland groups. 

Louis led me through the entrance hall and indicated various areas of the hall. Reception desk, security check etc. We went to the elevator and he took me to the top floor of the building. 

“This is the floor you’ll be working on with me,” he told me. Just ahead of the elevator was a hallway with two security guards stationed on either side. And just before the hallway was a desk was stationed by the floor entrance and woman seated behind it. The 

way the was floor was structured was very similar to the Acland top floor. Louis and I approached the desk. 

“Good morning, Mr Carrington,” the woman greeted Louis. 

“Morning” he greeted back. “Jasmine, this is Carmen Deepak, the front desk secretary,” he introduce me. She was a middle aged woman with long dark hair, brown smooth skin and wore a fine formal dress. 

“Ms Deepak this is Jasmine Towers my new executive assistant.” He introduce me to

“Pleasure to meet you, Ms Towers,” she greeted me with a smile. 

“Pleasure to meet you too, Ms Deepak.” I replied smiling as well. 

“Ms Deepak, will show you around the floor and building, introduce you to other employees and also to your office,” he told me. “I have some work to take care of right now but ill check on you later.” 

“Okay,”I agreed. Louis then left, going through the hallway. 

Ms Deepak then stood from behind the desk and had me follow her through the hallway as well. 

She showed me around the floor, introducing me the employees that worked on the floor. the different department managers; HR, finance, marketing etc. She gave me my personal access card which I would use to enter the different areas of the building. 

“Down this hallway is the CEO’s office,” she told me as she pointed in the direction. 

Finally she led me to an office. The door was written had Andrew Gatwick on the door 

label. 

“This will be your office,” she told me as she opened the door. “We’ll remove the name on the door soon and put yours.” 

It was a lovely office. There was a desk in the center with a desktop computer. Some bookshelves with folders on them. There was a small seating area. It had a comfortable feel to it and quant. It was quite spacious too! I mean it wasn’t as big Keith’s office for example but it was still quite big. 

“As for the tasks you will be doing. For now, the CEO is handling most of the work Mr Gatwick was doing because it’s part of the investigation into his crimes. So luckily the rest of the work he was working on that’s remaining won’t be too much especially since you’ve just started the job,” she explained as she went to the desk.
