Kelvin snapped back to reality, got up with a calm attitude, and apologized again. Sorry for bothering you today. Thanks for having me, Mr. and Mrs. Simmons.”

Gloria was pissed mainly because Helena had been treated unfairly. She raised her hand and pointed right at him.

She said, Get out. If you dare step into this house again, I swear I’ll break your legs!”

Darius thought Gloria was getting a bit too worked up. He figured forcing a relationship never worked.

If Kelvin didn’t like Helene, it was better to clear the air and call off the engagement.

But with Gloria being mad, Darius knew better than to try to talk her down.

The Simmons Group was named after Darius, but anyone who was close to Darius knew he was totally whipped. If Gloria told him to leave, he’d drop everything he’d built in a heartbeat.

The Simmons Group should really be called the Richardson Group.

The moment Gloria raised her hand to point at Kelvin, Kelvin’s eyes went wide. He froze on the spot.

That emerald bracelet on her wrist looked awfully familiar.

It was a brandnew blood ruby, the very one Edwina had bought from him.

How the hell did that blood ruby end up on Gloria’s wrist?Kelvin wondered.

In that split second, a million thoughts raced through Kelvin’s mind. He suddenly remembered the day Helene and Edwina first walked into Gibson Group together.

Peter had mentioned, Miss Simmons is here for her internship, and she’s brought someone with her.”

Who would come with Helene to the company?Kelvin wondered.

Kelvin had been investigating Edwina for ages, but always hit a dead end. Because her last name was Lennox, he’d never considered she might be connected to Helene.

Is Edwina actually a member of the Simmons family?Kelvin thought, his heart pounding.

He felt that he was about to uncover the truth he’d been chasing all this time.

Gloria’s brows furrowed. Didn’t you hear me? I said get out!”

Kelvin was struggling to stay calm, but his voice still sounded tense.

Mrs. Simmons, who gave that blood ruby bracelet on your wrist to you?Kelvin pressed.

My daughter. What’s it to you? Are you planning to steal it or something?Gloria snapped back.

Helene’s eyes widened. She tried to cut in and steer the conversation away, but Kelvin didn’t give her the chance.

He blurted out, You have another daughter named Edwina?”

Gloria got even angrier. What’s that supposed to mean? Are you playing dumb?

She went to the hospital to see your grandma before. Are you seriously telling me you don’t even know her name?

Kelvin, if you want to cut ties with both my daughters, you don’t have to pull this lame, stupid act!”

Helene felt something inside her shatter. It’s all over now. All that effort to keep this secret, and Kelvin still found out!she thought.

Instead of being upset at the scolding, Kelvin actually looked happy.

Mrs. Simmons, is she at the villa right now?Kelvin asked.

Yeah.Darius nodded. She’s resting upstairs.”

Kelvin took a deep breath, his gaze turning serious. Can I see her?”

See her?Darius was puzzled, not sure what Kelvin was planning.

Gloria shot him down immediately. No way!”

Darius glanced upstairs. Why hasn’t Edwina made a sound for so long? Ivan, go check on her.”

Ivan nodded. On it.”

As Ivan headed upstairs, Lanette didn’t have time to remove the signal blocker or unlock the door. She had no choice but to make a hasty escape.

Ivan spotted something suspicious outside Edwina’s door and instantly went on high alert.

Mr. and Mrs. Simmons, Miss Lennox has been locked up!Ivan shouted.

What?Gloria’s face went pale with worry. Go check on her and get someone up there now!”

Before Gloria could even get to her feet, Kelvin had already dashed past them and bolted upstairs.

Kelvin, who told you you could go upstairs?Gloria called out, her voice sharp with anger.

Darius quickly pulled Gloria back. Alright, let’s focus on getting Edwina’s door open first. Easy now.”

Helene was left alone in the vast living room.

She stared up at the stairs, her face drained of all color. She stumbled and collapsed to the floor.

Her carefully chosen dress was stained with spilled coffee, her makeup smeared with tears, and her hair a

tangled mess.

Helene looked a total mess, nothing like the pampered heiress she was supposed to be.

Even she thought she looked pathetic.

Helene fumed inwardly, Who even cares? All they ever see is Edwina, that shameless newcomer who came out of nowhere and took everything from me.

That bitch gets everything handed to her without even trying!‘

Kelvin raced up to the fourth floor, following Ivan’s shout. The signal blocker was still stuck on Edwina’s bedroom door. No matter how he twisted the handle, the thing wouldn’t open at all.

Gloria was already in tears. Ivan, where’s the key?”

I’m sorry, Mrs. Simmons. The key’s gone. Someone stole it. I’ll call a locksmith right now,Ivan said, sounding panicked.

Gloria sobbed, not caring that everyone was watching. My Edwina. What if something’s happened to her in there? Will they get here in time?”

If this were a regular thing, Gloria wouldn’t be freaking out like this.

But now, with a signal blocker in play, Gloria couldn’t help but suspect that some underground organization was targeting the Simmons family.

The Simmons family was loaded and influential, and honestly, it wouldn’t be the first time something like this happened to them.

Kelvin said in a low, commanding voice, Move.”

Darius reacted quickly, pulling Gloria out of the way just in time.

Kelvin took a few steps back, then charged forward and slammed his body into the door.

Using a burst of force and some martial arts tricks, Kelvin slammed into the door. It actually started to splinter.

Kelvin charged straight inside while ignoring the pain.

In the fading golden sunlight, Edwina sat by the window, her profile striking and elegant. Her skin seemed to glow with an almost ethereal light, and from the side, her long, curled lashes shimmered.

The way she was so absorbed in her thoughts made her look even more gorgeous.

Kelvin found himself completely mesmerized, unable to look away for a moment.

Edwina was quietly working on her drawing when she got interrupted. She frowned, clearly in a bad mood, and turned to face the crowd gathered at her bedroom door.

Kelvin was standing right at the front.

His arms were trembling a little. Even for him, crashing into a solid door like that was brutal. The pain was impossible to ignore.

Edwina caught the way he was shaking, and her gaze grew a shade darker.

She swept her eyes over everyone, her voice airy and indifferent. What’s going on? Is something wrong?”

Gloria and Darius hurried over, fussing around Edwina, checking her from every direction like anxious

parents.

Edwina, we found a signal blocker outside your room. Are you alright? Did anything weird happen?Gloria asked, her voice trembling with worry.

Did anyone try to hurt you? Are you okay?Darius added.

They looked like they wanted to wrap Edwina up in their arms and make sure she was safe.

Edwina shook her head. I’m fine. Seriously, don’t worry.”

Thank God,Gloria let out a shaky breath, finally relaxing.

If anything happened to her after all we’ve been through, I’d never forgive myself, she thought.

As her worry faded, Gloria’s anger flared up. I want answers. Find out who did this.

Ivan, check the security cameras right now. I want to know who was bold enough to mess with my girl!”

Yes, ma’am,Ivan said, rushing off to do exactly that.

If there’s nothing else, I’m going to get back to my drawing,Edwina said, her tone making it clear she wanted everyone out of her room.

I need a word with you, Miss Lennox,Kelvin’s deep voice broke in.
