In a neighboring state, Ethan had just finished reviewing several medical papers when a post about Alexander and his rumored girlfriend surfaced on his feed. 

The moment he noticed the topic trending, he tapped on it without thinking.

Something stirred in him. He reached out and wiped away her tears, his voice soft. “What is it? Why are you crying?” 

Nancy leaned into him, burying her face against his chest as she murmured, “You always show up when I need you.”

Ethan returned her smile warmly and motioned for her to go upstairs. 

Nancy turned reluctantly and headed up the stairs.
