“For these twenty–five years, we have missed you so much. That year, you told your father and me that you had someone you loved. We only said we did not agree, yet you were cruel enough to stay away for over ten years and never come home. You never even brought your wife back for us to meet her. When we finally heard from you again, it was already the final farewell. Julian, how could you be so heartless?”Â
Rachel tightly clutched the photo and tearfully continued, lamenting, “There is not even a family photo left at home. Do you know how painful it was when I raised Tylissa alone? Did you ever think about how your father and I felt?”Â
Julian was the eldest son. They were naturally stricter with him.Â
Yet he never let them down.Â
The only time father and son truly clashed was when Julian said he wanted to marry a woman with no registered identity. No one knew where that woman came from.Â
Yet she completely captured Julian’s heart. He was even willing to give up everything just to be with her.Â
Rachel stayed in the room for a long time. Only when the morning light fully brightened did she finally step out.Â
She had barely gone downstairs when she saw her younger son, Anthony. From far away, she already smelled strong alcohol.Â
Her head buzzed as anger surged.Â
“You were out fooling around all night again! Do you have any respect for your father and me? You drown yourself in drink every day. You are already seventy. You are not young. When will you grow up? Can you stop making us worry? Your brother is gone! When will you take on the responsibility of the Clarks?”Â
The more she spoke, the angrier she became. She quickly stepped forward and harshly slapped his face.Â
Anthony’s head turned from the blow. He paused before casually saying, “Mom, Dad is still holding things up. I am just a useless nobody. Everyone knows the second son of the Clarks is trash. Too bad my brother is gone. Your hopes died with him.”Â
“Anthony. Clark.” Rachel forcibly suppressed the anger in her chest. “You probably do not know this, but Capitol Planet is about to be shaken up. The Morren family has brought back a second young miss. She is twenty–five and has awakened her elemental power. This has never happened in history.”Â
Anthony lazily listened with no interest. Then, he heard his mother continue.Â
“In a few days, the Morren family will hold her coming–of–age ceremony. Clean yourself up and go represent the Clarks.”Â
Anthony stared at her in disbelief. A mocking smile slowly spread across his face.Â
“What? Trying to play matchmaker again? This time, you like the Morren family’s second miss. Mom, she is only twenty–five. Can you stop meddling? I am not worthy.”Â
“Oh. By your standards, probably no one is worthy,” he coldly continued. “My brother was forced by you to stay away for over ten years. You refused to acknowledge my sister–in–law. Yet after she died, you rushed to claim her. Can you cut the act? It makes me sick to watch.”Â

Rachel trembled with rage. “You unfilial beast!”Â

“Yes, yes. I am an unfilial beast. Satisfied now?” Anthony coldly smiled before continuing, “Calm down. If you get so angry that you die, what if someone comes and takes your seat as First Lady?”Â
“Anthony!” Rachel loudly snapped. “Once you leave the Clarks and lose this surname, who would look at you twice? People are polite only because of your father. Look at yourself over these years. Ever since your brother left, you have been completely ruined.”Â
Her voice sharply rose. She grabbed something nearby and angrily threw it at him.Â
The argument downstairs woke Tylissa.Â
When she knew Anthony was fighting with Rachel again she pulled the blanket over her head and tried to block out the noise.Â
Yet the shouting only grew louder. Tylissa could not fall back asleep.Â
She slowly sighed and got up. It was time to step in again.Â
“Grandma. Uncle Anthony.”Â
Tylissa’s soft voice sounded from the stair railing.Â
Seeing her, Rachel quickly restrained her anger. “Tylissa why are you up. Did this scoundrel wake you?”Â
Tylissa walked down the stairs. “Grandma, let us sit down and calmly talk.”Â
She turned to Anthony and firmly spoke, “Uncle, Grandpa had been working all night. Grandma did not rest well. You stayed out all night and came back to argue. As a son, that is not right.”Â
Anthony indifferently looked at this niece. As she grew older, he could no longer see his brother in her.Â
If that paternity test report still existed, he would doubt whether she was truly his brother’s child.Â
Anthony once wanted to kindly treat this orphaned niece. Yet he could not.Â
When he looked at her, he felt no warmth.Â
He and his brother had been very close. His brother was much older.Â
When he was young, his brother almost raised him alone.Â
Their father was always busy with work. Their mother had many husbands and many children.Â
The love she gave them was very little.Â
