Chapter 97 Her Husband’s Assets

Keith’s expression was incredibly gentle. “Alright, we’ll let you treat us this time. But it won’t happen again. Who lets the ladies pay for dinner?” 

As soon as he finished speaking, Keith opened his Holoband, tapped on Ava’s profile, and swiftly transferred a large sum of coins to her. 

Inside the quiet elevator, Ava heard the constant ding of notifications. She didn’t think much of it at first, but the alerts kept going off one after another. It was impossible not to notice. 

When she stepped out of the elevator, she lifted her wrist to check her Holoband and froze. It wasn’t just a few transfers, and each one had a long string of zeroes. 

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven… 

It was a whopping two million coins per transfer, and there were five notifications in a row. 

In the blink of an eye, the girl who used to live like someone from the slums had suddenly become a multi- millionaire. People usually became rich overnight, but she did it in the blink of an eye. 

Ava furrowed her brows. “What’s with these transfers? It’s not like I don’t have money to spend.” 

Keith leaned slightly closer. “It’s just some pocket money. Spend it however you like. Even though we’re legally married, we haven’t officially completed the registration process yet, and some procedures aren’t finalized. I can’t share all of my assets with you just yet.” 

Mason gently patted her head. “It’s only a bit of pocket money. Why are you so shocked?” 

Ava blinked. Just a bit, huh? 

Ryan chimed in with a smile, “This is nothing. Don’t be scared.” 

Laurent lowered his eyes toward her. “We’re husband and wife. Isn’t it natural for a husband to take care of his wife?” 

Ethan explained, “Ava, interstellar law clearly states that after a marriage is established, ten percent of the husband’s premarital assets are automatically transferred into the wife’s personal account as a gift. No matter what happens to the marriage later, the money will belong to the wife. After that, each year, part of the husband’s income is also automatically transferred to the wife’s personal account by his company’s finance department.” 

Ava was completely stunned. It took her quite a while to find her voice. “But this is way too much! The Morren family gives me plenty of allowance. I can’t even spend all of that!” 

She looked at them, innocent and sincere, making their hearts tremble for no reason. 

Ethan gulped as he gripped the shopping bags tighter, the veins standing out on the back of his hand as he tried to suppress the sudden surge of emotion inside him. 

“That’s from the Morren family,” he finally said, meeting her gaze. “This is from us. You don’t need to feel pressured. If a man can’t even afford to support his family, he doesn’t deserve to be called a man.” 

Mason chuckled and couldn’t resist lightly tapping her nose. “Aren’t you hungry? Is something this small really worth overthinking?”

“Let’s get moving,” Laurent said, glancing around. “If we keep standing here, people will start gathering to watch.” 

They got onto the hovercar. Sitting in the passenger seat Ava fell silent, deep in thought. A heavy sense of guilt weighed in her chest. The social norms of this world were so different from her previous one. No matter how casually they spoke about it, she still couldn calm down. 

“This meal is on Ava, got it? I won’t be holding back later” Ryan joked from the back seat. He didn’t like this heavy atmosphere, nor did he like seeing her frown like that. 

It was such a strange feeling. Ryan never imagined he would one day become this empathetic. 

Ethan’s fingers gently brushed along the edge of the shopping bag, his gaze soft as it rested on the clothes inside. He didn’t even dare touch them. With his eyes half–lowered, his mind replayed the moment she stepped out in that silk dress. 

She was beautiful–there was no doubt about that–but in that instant, everything else faded away. He saw nothing and heard nothing; there was only her. He liked her far more than he thought. 

They soon arrived at Mitchell’s Private Kitchen. Mason was a frequent customer here, and he even had his own private room. 

When he left home this morning for the Morren Residence, he’d never planned on going back for lunch 

anyway. 

To be honest, he would’ve preferred a private date with her, but there would be plenty of chances in the future. 

Mason entered the private room first and pulled out a chair for Ava. “Have a seat, Ava.” 

Once she sat down, he took the seat beside her. Then, he looked at Ethan. “Hey, Ethan, you sit on the other side of Ava.” 

After that, he turned to the other three. “You three were the ones holding hands and sitting close to her. We didn’t get to do anything.” 

Ryan stared at him, speechless. “Do we really need to take turns like this?” 

“Look at you, acting all innocent after taking advantage of Ava!” Mason snorted, then turned back to Ava. 

“Ava, I’m not asking you to like me more than anyone else–liking you myself is enough. But at the very least, I hope you’ll treat us all fairly.”
